The call is from The Hothouse Roof and Energy Company, if you google them they have a website and a phone number 08450304455,plus an email address.

I dont know why any business phone canvasses,i bet they never get a positive response.

Yet another nuisance call from an automated machine. Incessant chatter from an annoying woman asking about energy saving. If she'd only hang up that would have saved lots of energy!
Couldn't use the phone for several minutes. Just as well I didn't need to make an emergency call, cause 'she' was keeping the line open.

The company is owned by a guy called Willie Taylor , his daughter is the voice. His company is based in Manchester , and registered in Blackburn.

I was called repeatedly on Sunday by this survey company What can be done about it?

stupid automatic call system. its all recorded on my answering machine. their machine doesnt realise it was asking my answer machine to take part in a survey

Called on 3rd May at 3.52 p.m. (When we were cleaning out the gutters!!!) Recorded message started saying it was a market research company "operating in your area" (Knutsford,Cheshire). I hung up at that point.
We've been registered with TPS for many years but it still doesn't stop them trying. We've now gone ex-directory so, hopefully, over time these unsolicited calls will stop.

Got 2 calls from this outfit.  Didn't respond to their automated nonsense. bound to be some sort of scam trying to flog stuff.  Immediately reported them to TPS

I had the same recorded marketing message this afternoon.  We're with TPS and Ex-Dir too.

I rang The Hothouse Roof and Energy Company on 0845 0304455 and the woman I spoke to explained that the research is being undertaken by Curved Air Marketing Solutions.  She also said that because it is MR, the rules about cold calling are different (?) wrt TPS and Ex-directory.  Not sure about this destinction...ICO could advise?

She directed me to the website (www.curvedairmarketingsolutions.co.uk) and told me to click the 'Opt out' button and enter the telephone No to be unsucribed.  This I have done, as well as emailling the directors via the links in earlier posts.

Received one of these calls - just hang up as soon as patter starts. Number is TPS registered and ex directory.
My new phone -  Panasonic KX-TG8524 has Call Bar "feature" - enter number in list - any future calls with CLI of 08450304400 will be met with Busy tone and no ringing of phone.  Can't wait!

Why oh why are all these nuisance calls from companies based in Manchester?? Have they got nothing better to with thier time up there then disturb people in the evenings when they are trying to relax after a hard days work. So have had kitchens, energy efficiancy, loans, solicitors, double glazing, and accident claims all from companies based in Manchester, unbelieveable GET A LIFE (and a real job)

Recorded message on answerphone asking to take part in an energy consumers survey and would be entered into a prize draw to win £50's worth of Marks and Spencers vouchers.

Started off as a recorded voice carrying out an energy survey. I hung up. I am registered with the TPS for what it's worth.

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) aims to reduce live "direct marketing" calls and is unable to stop calls from organisations who are conducting research. Research calls are not deemed as direct marketing as they generally relate to information gathering or seeking of opinions whereas the purpose of a direct marketing call would be to sell or market a product or service.

If you want to stop these calls you will need to contact the companies that make them directly or inform the caller that the call and any future calls from them is not welcomed. Additionally, you can also request that they suppress your details. They are obliged to comply with your request. If the company continues to call disregarding your request you may seek further guidance from the Market Research Society (MRS), furthermore the MRS has a code of conduct which all members must comply with. Just got call from 08450304400. Automated voice claiming to be from some energy company to do a survey. Option to press 9 to opt out which I did without thinking. Now worried in case I've done something stupid!

A recoded message message said "press 9 to opt out of the energy survey" which I did then the call ended. Seemed okay but should I have presses anything at all?

oh joy i was feeling so left out but now i can say Yes finally i have received my very own nuisance call by this number, approximately 8 minutes ago a lovely woman propositioned my answer phone with the chance to win £50 of vouchers, thankfully my machine is not easily led on so let her waffle for a bit before timing her out :D

research really should be classed as marketing/selling as what other reason could they have for gathering information on what we buy or use but to try and encourage us to buy or use something different.

This type of telephone "spam" would be eliminated instantly if the perpetrators were charged a few pence for each call. It relies on inconveniencing thousands of people in their homes in order to find just one gullible idiot who will buy one of their "whatevers".

Also, a worldwide system which charges 1p to send one email would instantly eliminate email spam also. Count me in!

If you're a legit company then what are you doing calling my unlisted number!!!
