Definitely confirmed as British Gas.

Idiots have called me twice today so far, plus once last Friday.

If they ever finally put someone on the other end, they're going to get an earful...

They call many times a day really pisses me off anytime you pick it up they hang up. This has happend for months on end. Something needs to be done about this.

Two years of many annoying calls from British Gas. The last call was from this number. We have spoken with British Gas many times and told them to not contact us. They have ignored our entry on the TPS (Telephone Preference Service). As they have ignored our requests, we then contacted the Energy Ombudsman on 01925 530263 - who advised us how to complain. As our problem was more than 9 months in duration and as we had already complained during the telephone calls from British Gas, the ombudsman advised us to write to Andy Eley at British Gas stating the history of the complaint and asking for a "full and final position" regarding the complaint, and that when we receive this we can then complain formally to the ombudsman. The address the ombudsman gave us is the same as on https://www.britishgas.co.uk/complaint and this is Andy Eley, Head of Complaints, British Gas, PO Box 1577, Southampton SO18 9EX.

Hope this helps, if enough of us complain to British Gas it might make aq difference.

Answerphone just picked up a silent call from this number. They ignored our entry on the TPS!

I just got one of these silent calls.

According to ofcom here:

They must now follow up with a call by a live operator within 72 hours and they can't use that call as a marketing opportunity, without my consent.

So....

If they don't call within 72 hours, I'll be phoning ofcom to report the silent call abuser. I've done it before... it's easy.

If I receive a live operator call within 72 hours, they'll get dogs abuse...

Managed to speak to someone today, sounds like they are on autodial and go to an operator if someone picks up and IF there is an operator free. Just tell them you are in rental accommodation and not in a position to switch gas/electric suppliers as would be a breach of contract.
This gets rid of them and should stop the calls.

I keeping on getting this...I wonder if anything other than a tap on the wrist will be done about this. May be we should form a petition?

Although it is almost a year since the last entry, british gas are still annoying people with this call.  I am in the process of switching from BG to another supplier and have received two calls today, when I answer there is no one on the line.  Thanks to this site I know who it is from and will just let it ring if I get anymore.

Got a call from this number on Friday 12 Sept at 3pm. Didn't answer. I am not a British Gas customer. I have been previously. I am also on the Telephone Preference Service list, so they are not supposed to spam you with these calls.

Get 5 or 6 calls a day from this number 08450700827. Phoned BG but got nowhere with their fuckwits in customer services.  Just gonna tell them to F**k off when it next phones.  Most of the calls are silent.  Left BG months ago coz they are completely useless on every single level.  Registered with TPS but BG wont take any notice of that, truly vile company.

British Gas called me from this number for the second time in a week. They won't take no for an answer. Telling them to go die from a horrible disease doesn't help apparently. For this reason, I plan to move to another supplier, even knowing that this may lead to more harassment from these nazis.

I got a missed call from the above mentioned number 08450700827.. Anyway,i was able to find out from this site that its most likely to be British Gas. More also that i've just paid a final bill to leave them for another energy company. I detest unsolicited calls from someone who is not based in Uk no matter which coy interest they may represent.

called back on 08450700828 and left details to be removed from yheir list. Very simple and I hope it works!!!

Thanks to this site found out who it is and we're in the process of changing provider too so thats a coincidence - not!

It is British Gas presumably trying to get me back as a customer. Never on this earth! I have complained to the TPS with whom I am supposedly registered. We all need to complain!

we're with British Gas and must get over 20 calls a day, ive told husband to switch but doubt this will stop them.
its frustrating as whoever rings up we tell them to stop but they dont communicate that to anyone so have to do the same thing again and again...

I've received 4 calls from that number over the past 2 weeks. They hang up as soon as I answer.

Had this number calling for about the last 3 months about once every two weeks. Always between the hours of 18:00 and 20:00 (just when I'm trying to get my daughter to sleep!!!). Finally had enough tonight and found this site which is great. Have filed a complaint with OfCom and suggest everyone does the same (http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/nuisance/silent/) as OfCom only investigates a number when there are sufficient complaints against it.

I received a call from this number on my mobile, it was from British Gas trying to sell me gas and electricity even though I am with another supplier. Very pusy sales technique would not take no for an answer. He said he was calling from india. Refused to sign up to THEM!
