I have got a missed call from 08450700872.

0845 0700827 is a British Gas number for sure.

I am in the process of switching both gas and electricity from British Gas to another supplier, as British Gas's customer service is a shambles and I don't want to pay them my money for the exact same products that I can get from a more professional company.

These calls from 0845 0700827 will most likely be related to leaving British Gas, no doubt they will try to convince those whom they call to stay with British Gas. Fair enough, they are entitled to do that once, not several times a day though. Once they have been told to stop phoning and that they have lost a customer, they should simply accept it and stop phoning. Goes to show what an unprofessional company they really are.

I've had three of these calls today, I didn't pick the phone up as I don't answer the phone unless I know who it is. I've got an answerphone, so if they needed to contact me, they can leave a message and I'd call back. Now I know it's British Gas I'm going to complain to them as there isn't even gas in this area!

I've had a call from this number on three consecutive days this week, when answering I get no reply.  If it is British Gas, I don't appreciate sales calls let alone hang ups.

08450700827 just had them phoning me as well. A couple of weeks ago one guy called and wanted to check the gas line or change some equipment or contract or whatever... I told them, that I would not own the flat and therefore they shall contact the owner. seems they are stupid.

Called my mobile twice yesterday, I wised up after reading this page and didn't answer.  Called again this morning while I was waiting for a call from the garage, and I answered without checking.  Very persistent guy on the other end, asked whether I would confirm I was Miss X, and my address without even saying who he was.  Immediately, I asked if it was a sales call, and he was silent, before eventually blabbering that it was "More like a courtesy call", and that he "Wanted to check that everything was okay with my gas account as I'd had it for a long time".  I asked again if it was a sales call, and he said he was just going to ask if I'd be interested in "Other products".  I said no, and asked them not to call again.  He said "I'll give you a call later".  I told him there was no point, I don't talk to cold callers, and he said "I'll call back later anyway, when you have a minute.  I WILL be calling back".  I told him not to bother wasting his time and hung up while he was still threatening to call back.  I'll be calling T Mobile now and asking them to block the number.

From the sounds of it, it would appear that they are using an auto dialler.  Having worked in a similar situation before, these machines will dial a list of numbers, and match answered calls back to an agent at the company.  If you answer the phone, and it gets cut off, then it is because all of the agents are handling calls and are unable to talk to you.  These are known as drop calls.  As for TPS, this only applies if you have had no contact with the company previously, if you have ever had a quote or query with the company, they can contact you.  The best thing to do is to answer the call, hope there is an agent ready to take your call, and clearly state that you do not want to be contacted by them again (no need to call the other phone line)

I had one missed call from this company then had another missed call from the same telephone number again i called the tel number back as I did recognise the number it was British Gas I am not a British Gas customer any longer so have no reason for them to be calling me.

0845 0700827 triggered my Fax Machine to start operating.  Whatever the message as it did not come through, the Fax Machuine re-seting itself.  I do not know who the caller was or how they new my number is also a Fax number.  I have experinced calls from this number before and belive it originates in the Sheffield area.  It may well be British Gas on the lok out for business!!!!

For the 2nd time in the last week I received a call from 08450700827. In the 1st instance I answered the phone swiftly (within 1 to 2 rings) but no one answered at the other end. More recently I let the phone ring. It only did so once before the ringer went silent.
If nothing else it undermines the confidence to simply answer the phone, you never know what antics might be thrown at you.

Ive had the missed calls from them twice for last two days. luckily they are trying to reach me on my old mobile which I keep silent and hardly use it.

I was with bg, left it a year ago, and experienced many problems with this [***] company including passing my details to debt collectors because of someone had neglected his duties. Ive got all payments settle down and Im nothinh due to them any more. I thought maybe they called regarding to this but seems it was just a scam call. Dont know why they bothering to call cause at the property where I live now, Im not responsible for gas (although there is account with bg) and have an electricity with npower.
they're just bag of bollocks.

We'll see. I switch off silent profile and wait for their call.

I think that it is pretty clear that this is not really BG. It is very easy to spoof a caller-id number. I had one of these calls today and didn't answer it. It is still worth leaving complaints though - but politeness is more likely to get results. Abuse, though it may make you feel better is most likely to be ignored.

British Gas! Whats going on? When I call them to inform them I do not want to be called twice a day, I have to WAIT to give MY OWN DETAILS, and it could take up to 28  DAYS before they stop calling me...........Its Harassment

Fortunately, they stopped. I did not pick up, cause wasnt at home when they rang.  and now, for last three days they've been quiet.

Had a hang up this afternoon.  I am with the TPS and still the b&£$ards persist in calling.  I have registered a complaint with Ofcom.  Perhaps if everybody let ofcom know what is going on they may be able to rein these people in - but I doubt it!

I have had loads of calls ok these jokers. I finally managed to speak to one of them today only for them to ask to speak to my husband. Funny that seen as they called my mobile number and all the utility bills are in my name?? We are with E-on so dont know why they are mithering me 24/7 as i have never been with them.

Ive found the best thing is to tell them they have the wrong number, that shut her up.

There is not a day goes by when I don't have calls from this number - about 3 per day.  I am an ex-British Gas customer and I left because they were the most expensive.  Despite numerous calls to them, they were still requesting payments via diect debit for 6 months.  Be sure to cancel ny SOs or DDs immediately when you leave them - they won't stop taking your money.  Customer service - a shambles and ironically the waiting time to speak to an adviser was around 20 mins.  Frequently got cut off - they never called me back despite have my number.  Obviously all staff were engaegd in this scandalous practice. I shall follow the advice of one poster; answer the call and ask them not to phone me again.
