They use an automated dialler which, when it connects, connects to the next available operator. Unfortunately their call centre is currently extremely understaffed, so quite often there is no available operator who can take the call - hence the hang-up.

The database used is old and inaccurate - so there are charities, municipal offices, PLCs, the self-employed and all sorts of other things being called which have absolutely no relevance.

The call-centre staff have minimal training, are paid minimum wage and are fed a diet of b***-**** by management. For all that there are some educated, personable, polite people working there because it happens to be their best, or only, option in the current economic climate.  Union representation is badly needed but will not happen.

Apologies to all those who are annoyed by the calls - believe you me, many of us are even more annoyed at having to make them. The best advice I can give, if you don't want to register with the corporate section of the TPS, is to write in to the company, recorded delivery, and instruct them to take your contact details  off the database.

Rodger, we are instructed that we must give neither the actual reason for our call, nor mention RTA, unless the person we are speaking to confirms they are the business owner, partner, director or a family member.

Workers have been sacked for revealing this.

Unfortunately mate thats what they want.
They are targetted upon how long they stay on the phone, that's why they call anybody.
So it ties up your line, and they get mostly what they want apart from a sale.
Such scum.

Phoned their head office on 0161 432 8181 and asked them to remove my details which they said they would do...time will tell!!

Complete con merchants, Do not trust even if you do want to sell business. I've been conned by RTA BIG time

They called me on the mobile- 'can I speak to the owner of the business'- I said the home phone was on TPS, did it cover the mobile, and he put the phone down. I've no idea if they can get round TPS by calling mobiles but if so it needs sorting out.

Ckandra, you are very brave coming on and trying to justify a company that obviously doesn't deserve it. But is it really the only thing you and the rest of the staff can do? From what I've read here they're not a very reputable company and apparently of little use to the fraction of companies they call who are actually interested? Unless these business close due to lack of genuine custom I'd always recommend everyone looking for a job to avoid them at any cost. It may fix a short term hole but may also put off future employers and others if you say you've had to stoop so low. It really should be illegal to cold call but until it is I can only appeal to people to look for a better job and be patient, this isn't real work or productive in any ways.

Received yet another call from this number, and hung up as soon as I answered.. Grrr. What can we do to stop these people?!

I have had loads of calls from these people talking about selling my fencing business.  I have asked them at least three times to send information to my email address but nothing has been sent.

I can only assume that the people phoning are paid when the phone is answered and nothing else is required ?

Have had numerous calls from this number. They never speak. Just hang up when I answer

they keep calling us on silent too.  over and over and over.  

I have typed business for sale into google and it brings up their Adword at the top of the page.  Just to get rid of my frustration I have clicked on their site from this adword 20 times.  This should cost them a few quid.  If everyone that they call and hang up on does this we could cost them some good money, which might lead them to find out why and stop bloody calling us!

These idiots call my mobile on a daily basis and hang up every time without speaking.  Annoying feckers, at least let the poor sod you are annoying have the privelage of hanging up on you.

Why would you work for a company like this????

You can only do that once a day otherwise google recognise you and it doesnt count.  Could get other people to do it though.
