08453003950
Report a phone call from 08453003950 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- accountant0845 300 3950 IS a genuine Revenue number. Essentially it is the Tax Credits people whose main number is 0845 300 3900 but, if you have come address this from 1471 "ring back" and you call it, then you will be put through to the first available Revenue officer. That person my have absolutely no idea why you were called in the first place.
As others have said it's best if you don't call them back but let them call you again and/or write a letter to you.
Revenue staff use this outbound number at all hours of the day/week.- Caller: HMRC
- accountantsorry ... ."address" in the second line (above) should be "across".
- N ThompsonReceived a call from this number, answered it, they hung up after a few seconds. Called it back from a land line not my mobile, and spoke to a lady on 'switch board'
Gave her no information that she desired, and she claims to have been 'collecting debt' from me??? I dont owe a penny to HM Revenue.
MY ADVISE DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO AND CONTACT THE HM REVENUE & CUSTOMS NUMBER STATED ON THE WEB SITE.- Caller: CUSTOMS SWITCH BOARD
- R.BibiWHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS CALL BACK ON THE NUMBER STATED IN THE MISSED CALLS ON PHONES???
HMRC DO NOT expect customers and taxpayers to call back on the number they called on!!!
LISTEN TO THE VOICEMAIL!!!
08543021427 - SELF ASSESSMENT. IS NOT on the website but it works because that is MY DEPARTMENT!!!
084530039**-TAX CREDITS!!
PEOPLE..YOU KNOW THAT YOU OWE A DEBT!!!
AND YOU KNOW HMRC WILL CONTACT YOU..
WHY HIDE?? Dont bother claiming that we shouldnt be contacting you because you KNOW you've got a tax bill with us but your just burying your head into the sand!!!- Caller: HMRC
- R.BibiALSO if you are expecting a CALLBACK..
You need to be aware that we work with a Dialler... we need to give 20 minutes before we can recall you but it is not guaranteed the call will be made on the same day!- Caller: HMRC
- DiggerDear Posters,
Reading this forum is like watching a game of tennis - with opinions jumping back and forth continuously. Having received a missed call and message from 0845 300 3950 on my mobile from the prescribed "scottish" (mid-lothian) accented gent; I googled the number and arrived here. Now, I do actually know that my tax affairs are not entirely in order and decided to take the plunge and oblige the request to call 0845 302 1427.
The guy who answered was snivelling and confessed to being a trainee. There was the murmur of a call centre in the background. (My scam radar was at this point picking up mixed messages). Again I braced myself as I surrendered my full name, date of birth and home addresses! Yikkes! However, the guy definately had the inside word on my tax affairs. He knew exactly where the area of interest lay and its' vital statistics... He gave me 28 days to sort out the issue.
So, unlike other posters, I will endeavour to keep this forum updated on the outcome of the issue or if anything untoward occurs as a result. So far, the number appears to be legitimate, the staff well informed and that the call is something that ought not to be ignored.
More soon.
Digger- Caller: Unknown - possibly HMRC
- smithDigger they have called me twice at 7.30 p.m.However the one last nite I could not understand a word he said because of his quiet strong scottish accent, Are they ringing to ask you to return your tax return as I have never had any tax credits or the such, But i do need to return my tax return...
- briIt's HMRC call centre, a dialer that dials out. Which is why when you call in they need your tax reference number to access all your details and tax affairs - then have to confirm security with you.
It can be for chasing numerous things. Tax Credits. Self Assessment debt, or unreturned SA Tax Returns (which DOES have to be returned as it's a legal document - even if you weren't SA).
And yes they do work nights and weekends. On the website you'll find alot of their helplines are open till 8pm etc. It's only local offices that aren't. - SimonI am a qualified accountant and have been in practice for numerous years. Those are my credentials. I too get these calls from HMRC Collector of Taxes in respect of clients who are in arrears with their Self Assessment tax payments. THese calls can be any time of day and night and also weekends, much to my annoyance as I work from home.
HMRC policy is to not give out confidential information until security checks have been passed. I agree with this, therefore, I too give THEM nothing until they pass MY security checks. This inevitably leads to an impasse.
I'm blowed if I know why they think that calling taxpayers' accountants is going to produce earlier settlement of arrears so I tell the caller (always Scottish in my experiences) to contact my client, after all it's HIS liability not mine and I have no intentions of paying my clients' tax bills. - becky0845 302 1420; they left a message asking me to call back regarding my tax credit. They said i would just need my NI number. I called the official Inland revenue number (from a previous letter) and they new nothing about it. Dont give out your details!
- WBSThey called, asked for my address and had my self employed ref no.
I asked them for a geographical number - which they were unable to supply (all of HMRC websites provides geographical numbers for those called from abroad).
They told me to check HMRC website for self employed helpline number - I did this is NOT it - http://search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kbroker/hmrc/conta ... 37&raction=view
I have called my local tax office who have no record of the call being made (all calls are logged), nor any reason to speak to me.
I called two other HMRC no.s with similar numbers, they say they did not have these extensions listed - HMRC - 0845 302 14 56 (not 27 - they no they advised me to call back on) and HMRC- 0845 300 3900 (not 50 as call came through on) - wbsp.s. Why would someone call me from the tax credits number and ask me to return the call to self assessment number? Doesn't make any sense
- robWhat a waste of time !
I just had the same fierce phone call at 6.15pm, threatening legal action, asking for my full name/NI etc. They gave our company's correct PAYE reference number, and asked me to call 0845 302 1424 as I refused to give the Scottish lady any details.
I called one of the main HMRC numbers, who confirmed that the number is real (after holding for 10 minutes), but they didn't know for which department !
So I called the number...
It turns out that we had paid our company PAYE using the previous month's reference number, and they couldn't allocate it without my confirmation !
doh ! - WBSNOT genuine. HMRC should not call mobile phone no.s. Nor would their debt collections be left to a part time university student, nor would 'self assessment' be calling from 'tax credits' extensions.... etc.
Nothing about this checks out - as the 4 calls I made to my local tax office and HMRC extensions verified.
Plus - when I called HMRC the first thing they ask for is your NI number - not your name and address, or your tax reference number. Please don't be fooled. - EvaldasI see many replies sounds like written by scammers. If some organisation calls, I think they MUST have your details allready just becouse you had been registering with them long time ago. When I do tax returns, I allways get the letter from them after I've submitted my accounts, it says how much I have to pay or how much they will pay to me.
Check with them via this directgov site: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefi ... MRC/DG_10014875- Caller: SCAM!!!!!

- A SmithI didn't take the call personally and had somebody in the house pass onto me by email. The caller knew my name, and claimed to be from the HMRC something-or-other and didn't leave a name.
I googled and phoned back the HMRC on +44 151 210 222 (ex-pat helpline) and then +44 151 471 8436 (Nottingham office) who then said that they couldn't find that 0845 specific number in their list ("though most of our numbers do start 0845 302 xxxx"). *There was no note in the computer system* of anyone having trying to contact me.
HMRC *do* apparently have a very similar number: 0845 302 14 _13_. As such (and having wasted an hour playing telephone bingo with the teal HMRC) I'm inclined to believe it's a scam.- Caller: "HMRC"
- PatIt's quite simple.
NEVER EVER give out your details to someone who calls YOU.
How can you tell who is calling you or know who's posting on here? Could it be employees from the HMRC or scammers trying to dupe you or a debt collection agency desperate to get money?
YOU CANNOT TELL and that's what scammers know and rely on. They can say anything they like and if they make enough phone calls to enough people then at some point they will catch a mug.....Don't let it be you.
ONE THING I KNOW FOR SURE:
The telephone numbers are NOT linked to the HMRC despite the very convincing posts on here. A previous post claimed they were genuine numbers and only people who owed money were rung. NOT TRUE. My husband has been phoned. We found the number of our tax office...nothing is owed.
If you do owe money to the HMRC and this is a debt collection agency then they need to come clean and tell you that.
ALWAYS CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF:
Be sensible. Do not phone the number left by these people. Find the number of your tax office yourself. If it is a scam and you phone the number they give you then the thump you hear is the sound of them falling off their chair laughing.- Caller: NOT the HMRC
