If you are not sure please call HMRC direct yourself to verify this company first. Call HMRC on this number from the HMRC website instead - TEL 0845 300 3900
- SteveJust missed call on my mobile. No message left
- I am SpartacusIt does not matter who is behind this. The bottom line is...thanks to the scum debt collectors, grasping arrogant banks and tele-sales vermin, the telephone is now only fit to be used in the following scenarios:
(1) Between friends, family and known acquaintances, where the numbers calling and being called are 100% known.
(2) To/from organisations where the numbers calling and being called are 100% known and are 100% above board.
The 08453003950 number is not clearly identifiable as being genuine, so should be ignored. If it is HMRC, then they only have themselves to blame if this now tarnished number is ignored.
Any reputable group, HMRC included, have zero excuse for not ensuring their outbound numbers are open, above board and well published.
The number of highly suspicious characters Posting here saying we are all idiots, is ample evidence that there is something very fishy about this number.
If in any doubt, don't answer the phone. Life is far too short to waste any of it answering scam/scum calls.- Caller: No Idea

Now go away like a good little boy and remove yourself from the gene pool! if you post agin on this forum then you just prove what I say is correct as someone from the HMRC would not be paid enough to bother... GIVE UP, YOU ARE WEAK AND BEATEN- Caller: Not the HMRC
- lynnI work for HMRC.
the reason we ask you to answer questions on i.e. what is your business address? your NI Number is so that we have the correct person on the phone!
Plus more of the time we call you on that number is because you own HMRC Tax if you want it to go ahead and tell your employees that you have PAYE, CoTax, VAT outstanding I will tell the Bosses!
and anon! THE NUMBERS ARE FOR OUR DEBT MANAGEMENT OFFICE!!! - JIMI can't believe how stupid half the people on this is!
I work in HMRC Debt Management Office. We are the last contact before legal action. So all you people that want to ignore the call hope have a good reason for it apart from this sad website! - MrsFJust had call from this number whch was silent to begin with and then a REALLY bad line where a lady asked for " Miss S J F******* " Well F******* is my MARRIED name so it would be MRS...... that got me a bit suspicious to start with..... All she said was that she was "from Revenue and Customs about..." and then the line went dead!! Called the Regular Tax credits line and she confirmed there wasnt anyone trying to contact me, but that it may be a housekeeping call, just to check if everything was still the same as when we previously applied for tax credits. Oh and also Tax Credits hadnt updated my details from my MAIDEN name so according to them I am still MISS T*********!!!!!!!
If I owed money to them then this would have been flagged up on my annual review (as was the case) and they would adjust my current tax credits to recoup this overpayment!!! Over the years hwere my situation has changed and my tax credits have been overpaid somewhat they have ALWAYS writen to me, NEVER rang!!! I will assume if it is correct then they will write to me, otherwise I will think no more of it.- Caller: APPARANTLY HMRC ??!?!?!?!!??!
- Also not HMRC!!Response to Jim - 26 Oct 2009 - if you are bona fide then why are the details your so called office seem to have are not correct and also if you are last contact before legal action then how come there has been no contact before especially on the paper kind ie letters!!!! If this is a sad website then you are even sadder for looking up your own number and responding to genuine issues that people have with the way you and your colleagues conduct business!

!!! THIS IS NOT HMRC !!!
!!! DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION WHEN THEY CALL !!!
!!! DO NOT ANSWER ANY CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER!!!
This website and the telephone number have recently been brought to our attention.
HMRC when collecting overpayments will write to you in the first instance regarding any overpayment or incorrect payments, a reminder will be sent, then a notice to take action if you fail to comply. This is a formal process they we need to pursue before taking any action, be it legal action in the court or referral to debt recovery, be it internal or an external debt recovery process.
It is worth noting that this scam is very well organised, it seeks to obtain as much information about you as possible under the pretence to verify your identity for security reasons, it operates on your fear that it is genuine by using the pretext they are HMRC and that they are from the recoveries department.
It is also worth noting how far they are prepared to go to convince you they are genuine, it is very clear they have left messages on this website claiming to be people confirming they are genuine as they have received paperwork from them. There are also bogus claims from people claiming to be from HMRC stating the number is genuine and making comment about this website, HMRC do not condone any defamatory or derogatory comments against this website, HMRC nor has any of its employees’ have not made these comments.
HMRC advice is that any person receiving a call from this number is advised that they should contact their local police office with as much information as possible, including names of the people calling, what was said on the telephone, what information was asked for, how often they have called.
HMRC 4/12/2009 - gavinthis is a scam i received a call and i dont get tax credits and dont have any outstanding tax bills so what do they want MY DETAILS DONT GIVE YOUR DETAILS ITS A SCAM
- -Scottish man calls repeatedly asking me to call the suspicious 08453021420 number. Note that this is different to 08453021427.
Note that Called IDs can be spoofed. In other words, the 08453003950 ID number reported by 1471 might be falsified.- Caller: unverified
- JasonI am in Finland and get +358 8453003950, realising this was an English type number I searched 08453003950, it bought me here. Scam? it would appear so, although I know HMRC are chasing me for zero returns, threatening court action - Thats going to look good in court. However, it seems unlikely that their telephone system would automatically add Finland country code onto their telephone number.
- sophiethis number calls me all the time! but when I pick the phone up they hang up...everytime...without fail...getting rather annoying!!!
- joanNo genuine official from HMRC would makes posts on a public forum like this to pass information or to insist a phone number is genuine.
To the idiots on here who foolishly claim "i work for HMRC", what are you doing on internet forums?! if you reallyy do, go do the work that we taxpayers pay you for.
If anyone receives a call, DO NOT give or "confirm" any information whatsoever, not even your name. They are scammers fishing for personal information to build a database. Ask them to write to you at the address on their file and then hang up.
No legal service of documents or a genuine debt demand can be conducted by phone call. - AlanI had this number call my mobile, a nmber which almost no one has, but it hung up - luckily as I am abroad. HMRC, who don't have this number, would currently argue that I owe them money, so the comment that this is tax credit probably comes from the scammer who is phoning.
