Report a phone call from 08453003950 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Mr Bliar's piggy bankI received a call from this number on the 1st of Dec, asking for my dob and address. I didnt give it for obvious reasons, but the caller said it was the tax dept. I then received two calls at 8pm last night while I was driving.
This evening after going online, I phoned the tax credit helpline as I had received them some two years ago. The very helpfull Scottish girl said that no one had contacted me (although I do have an overpayment! which I will sort out), and she said that anyone who was phoning should have left a note on the system. She also had no knowledge of the 09453003950 number, which although able to call me at 8pm last night was unavailable when I called tonight at 7.30 pm. Certainly makes you wonder.
Unfortunately since Nuuu Labour opened our doors to every scam artist worldwide, as well as giving our home grown variety easy pickings by leaving data lying on trains etc, how the hell do we know who is who?. The Tax Credits girl was quite sorry for having spooked me, but as I said to her, its better to know, so until I know for certain, no info being given to callers. - SantosI received a call from this number as well, she claim to be from HM REVENUE AND CUSTOM, this sound very dodgy, dont fall for this scam, there another group of people sent me a fake court letter demand payment for unknown fine, it say i should call them with my payment details, BE CAREFUL

- JkRecieved various calls from this number, with threatening voicemail messages left each time. I didn't answer, as I never do to 0845 numbers. Genuine requests from companies of any kind should be provided in hard copy through the post. Giving any personal details to a cold caller is is putting yourselves at risk of identity theft & fraud. If this number is genuine they would be sending you a letter regarding your personal situation with them , they wouldn't be calling on mobile numbers that haven't even been provided to them. If this is not a scam, then the government have once again put all of our private data at risk by implying this system. The same can be said for certain banks & other service providers. If you owe them money, they will write to you with full details of what you owe, and when you should pay. They should not ask for personal details over a 'cold call'.

- ACI work for a large accountancy firm in Edinburgh.
So I asked the tax department there for advice on the constant hanging up calls.
NO Customs and Excise or Inland revenue Employee is allowed to contact you By phone directly, without sending at least two letters in the 1st instance, they would then call you to make an appointment for you to visit your local tax office, or for an officer to visit you to sort it out, they cannot and will not take pre-emptive action against you.
This scam is based on the lost data of a few years ago.
Anyone posting on here stating that this is genuine is part of the scam. and should be laughed at. And their IP address noted and sent to the police.
IT IS A SCAM, IF YOU DO SPEAK TO THE SCOTTISH MAN, ASK HIM VERY DIRECT QUESTIONS. I. E. The exact state of teh account in question, where the amount owed accrued etc, and suggest he calls your solicitor or acountant to deal fully with the matter.- Caller: Liars Utd (hmrc scam)

- Tax Dodging MoronsYou all have a very clear choice - call the number left for you quoting the GENUINE reference number - they will tell you what we were calling about & make arrangements for payments .....
OR ... wait until the distraint officer/sherrif officer/baillif turns up at the door - or it could be CCJs - try getting credit with them. We live in such a paranoid society. - In writingLies all lies From the last poster
HMRC for one thing wouldnt call you about tax or tax credits, thats inland revenue.
You WOULD be contacted in writing initially, Twice minimum, before a pleasant call to arrange an office visit, No CCJ's in scotland. if in doubt, dont give it out.
If they call get the callers full details, name, office, extension number. then next morning visit your local tax collection office in person, after all if you owe any money to the tax, you CAN pay in person there, with all these details. or better still... record the call. and tell the lying idiot on the phone that you are recording them. So as you can check with the police.
These are the same kind of jokers who tell you you've won the spanish lottery without even entering it
Oh and all you lying scammers posting on here... it's a jailable offence to impersonate HMRC officials five years minimum!
Hope you like barlinnie food- Caller: Done beleive a word of it
- lies?
- HRMC Fraudhttp://www.hmrc.gov.uk/security/examples.htm
Tells all about the phone scam, as said above, call into your local collection office. Oh and if the call call the police, and customs and excise, they'll trace teh calls, and put this scum out of business- Caller: Scummy pikey thieves
- Tax Dodging MoronsTo "in writing" Have you been in Barlinnie for the past 5 years? HMRC was created by the merger of Inland Revenue & HM Customs & Excise who no longer exist. Check the website. www.hmrc.gov.uk (you cant have the .gov domain if you are an imposter) Most people have been contacted in writing, but if not there are no statutory regulations meaning they have to send it in writing. You are, for once, correct when you say there are no CCJs in Scotland (this would be because there are no County Courts) there is however action in your local sheriff court which can lead to bankrupty (or sequestration as it is technically called in Scotland) And in my experience when is being told you owe money ever a "pleaant call" You could not pay it at most local offices as they only process the paperwork rather than payments.
Hope you like Barlinne food - for impersonating someone with brains enough to operate a computer. - Tax Dodging MoronsTo "HMRC fraud" did you read the link - the one about telephones only references you saying oyu will get a tax rebate - not that they call informing you of an outstanding balance.
- MarkFor crying out loud - this is not, repeat not, a scam! I just called HMRC and they said I was on their dialling system because I had money owed! It actually transpires that HMRC actually owes me money and the call was in error!

- SamI got a call today literally just a minute ago, from the number 08453003950. Ive read most of the comments above about it being Debt recovery, or things to do with tax, however i think that this is rubbish, simply due to the fact i am well under the age of 16, meaning i can not legally work, let alone pay tax or owe money. I have other family members who are also under the age of 16 who have received these calls, and so i am led to believe that it is a scam. Major companies have been warned about answering to this number as it has been said to withdraw money from your account.
I hope this helps in some way. :) - Sam- AgainI got a call today literally just a minute ago, from the number 08453003950. P.S They rang on my mobile, why not land line? Also ive only had this number for a few months, i dont make calls from it, i only receive calls, and no one apart from a few family members knows the number...so how could they get a hold of it? I havent been using at all so how could it be listed on a database? - Dave AI never answer 0845 calls - when I received a call from this number I came to check here and was intrigued to find that it might be an HMRC number or a scammer - I am an accountant and deal with HMRC a lot - mostly their numbers come up as withheld - anyway today the number turned up again so I decided to answer it - it was in respect of an amount owed by a client of mine and there's no way they would know as much as they did without it being genuine - they gave me a number to call back on (18453021426)- it is definitely a genuine HMRC number dealing with chasing outstanding debts.
- aCCOUNTANT OF 20 YEARSI work at a busy accountants office and have done for over 20 years. This number is DEFINITELY A GENUINE CALL FROM HM REVENUE & CUSTOMS. If you have been called you owe them some money. Simple as that really!
