Answered phone to a girl talking about someone who was a bit of a [***] in the past. Charming.

Had this same bunch of cowboys ring my up both yesterday and today, offering free doors and windows. Both times they just hung up when I said I wasn't interested. We're also TPS so they shouldn't be calling anyhow.

Presumably they're just a call centre somewhere so don't really give a toss. I'd like to know who they're calling for though so I can lodge a complaint and maybe lose them the contract.

    Totally unprofessional bunch of yahoos.

Further to my post of 22 Nov. The company is called Feature Homes of Dundee, although I can't trace them through Google. I got one caller to give me her name (Cheryl), but when I asked for a post code she hung up. I have reported this call to tps and today received acknowledgement. They cannot stop the company directly but include any response to complaints in their regular report to the ICO who take into account the number of complaints received.
So folks, get complaining, the more the merrier. Reminder,
    http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/cgi-bin/tps_complaints.pl
Incidentally, I let them know that I would be complaining to the tps and have not been disturbed by them again.

Thanks for the company details, Jonathon. We've just had another call from this bunch (Saturday, 1pm). Sent away with a flea in their ear.

Will be filing a complaint with TPS next.

It's a tempting thought but the domain www.featurehomes.co.uk is currently available. Wouldn't it be fun to register it and set up a website where people can leave comments about them? :o>

Got a call from them today. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Thanks to this website I will not be answering and have submitted a complaint to the TPS. Submitting the complaint only takes a few seconds and the more complaints sent in, the more likely something will be done about it. Perhaps someone could invent an auto-complainer to combat auto-diallers.

Two calls in the space of 10 minutes, all I heard was beeps, then hung up.

Asked for the householder. When asked who they were, they wouldn't say. When told that they shouldn't be cold-calling us, the caller became abusive and said 'well you'll have to just register with TPS'. We told them we are already registered. They then terminated the call.

I spoke to them without being hung up on. They said they were calling from Weatherseal and when challanged about being ex-directory and on TPS they advised they got my number from a database and would remove it from their list.

    Amused!
Just received a call from them (19:57), asking to speak to the home owner, I asked who they were looking for and was once again told the home owner...  I was having fun by the time I had asked 7 times who they were looking for, there was no mr or mrs homeowner here, did they have another name they would like me to try?!

The man said "I'll call back later!" and put the phone down...

And guess what, if he does phone back, there still won't be a mr homeowner or mrs homeowner here!

I have an ex directory number and tps!

Same as some of the others... been called on this number maybe eight times this month and the caller hangs up every time I answer and doesn't leave message when I don't.

    Hi,

    Classy stuff on this site.

I just got a call from them 10 minutes ago. Same number, and frankly they have been trying me for months.

I answered and had a very young girl on the phone who was being prompted by an older lady in the background (obviously a new phone monkey).

She started off with the standard line i've heard many times before "your postcode has been selected for our free window replacement offer", "can you tell me how many windows you would replace with this offer?".

Me being a bit sleepy and wanting to get my bearings on this call asked her to repeat the question.

The prompting woman can on and quite sharply said "you sound a bit sleepy shall we call back?" to which i repeated the request for her to say the opening statement again.

Prompt lady says "It's quite simple, how many windows would you have replaced with our offer?". To which I reply "Thats somewhat of a silly question really isnt it?".

Prompt lady then says "Its not silly, you sound a bit thick, how many windows would you have replaced in our offer, 2, 4, all of them?".

I repeat "It is a bit obvious really." Trying not to laugh too hard.

At that point she called me a prick and tried to hang up - BUT FAILED TO PUSH THE RIGHT BUTTON and was subject to me laughing at her for another ten seconds.

    Made me feel better anyways.

Overall thou, worst call of this type i'd every received. Even the 1471 message breaks the law, as it doesnt have the companies name on it.

Making the complained to ofcom and tps now.

    Best Regards,

    Jac - Edinburgh

Oh and for those leaving comments about it being a beep then hanging up. It is to do with their auto dialer software and call centre setup.

Their computer feeds numbers to their phone staff at a constant rate, if they don't have enough people there to take those calls, or it is setup wrong then you get a dead call where the comp hangs up after a second.

Or they are just pinging your phone numbers to see which ones are real numbers from a large batch of automatically generated numbers.

Both cases are illigal in their own way. The dead calls have to be below about 2%, i think, from latest ofcom rulings. And the 1471 number has to leave clear indication of who was calling.

    hmm....

I may have made a doosy here. I thought i'd add some extra pressure and searched for the company name Feature Homes. Nothing came up as other people mentioned. So i thought i'd go try Weatherseal which someone else mentioned.

They have a nice site and many offical credits so i doubt they would be using such a crap telesales technique. I gave their number a call to say that one of this bunch had said they were calling from Weatherseal and obviously such a reputible company wouldnt use such nasty call tactics.

The guy was very nice to me and took it very seriously, as you would expect if someones company name was potentially being dragged through the mud.

Ending the call i felt a bit chuffed that they would lay in the corperate boot to our TPS campaign and get these muppets shut down. I went back to my computer to check out the weatherseal site and to my shock noticed this....

    http://www.weatherseal.co.uk/featurehome.php

Could it be that Weatherseal = Feature Home?!?!

Could I have managed to complain to source?!?

Their site says they are a Cheshire company, but the guy I called was in a call centre in Glasgow.

Maybe i'm just being paranoid. He's probably reading this now!

    Hello Weatherseal guy.

    :)

I doubting it's from Future Homes, i think its just another name they are dishing out, i live in edinburgh - why would a window company in Rugby call me.

I think they are just pulling names from the phone book to say.
