i dont have any account with barlcays i dont know why i received a call from them, seems may be some one is using my phone number, i called them and they said they cant do anything i have to visit a barclays branch, who has the time to go to a barclays branch, when you dont even have anything to do with barclays no accounts or any other products with them, i told them whoever is using my phone number is doing so fraudulently, and still they cant do nothing

This was Barclays Fraud.  I called them back on the above number as I missed the call (checking here first).

The automated system recognised my registered phone number that I called from and proceeded to reel off the last 3 days transactions plus the one they had refused (after spending an age going through different call centre menus!).  At no point did the automated system ask for my account details nor PIN etc.  I had to confirm I had made the transaction they had declined (knew how much and to whom).

Ive had constant phone calls from this number for 2 weeks now! If this is genuine shame on Barclays for dealing with things this way.  Automated phone calls? maybe a more personal message by a human might catch someones attention

It is genuine.

I was suspicious, so I called a trusted Barclays number and asked them to patch me through to the correct service. Turns out they had blocked my card because I had been spending more than usual in online payments.

I suggest you do the same. Start from a known Barclays number and have them patch you through.

As for details, they asked the card number, my name and my age on my next birthday for identification purposes.

If it's Barclays Fraud they have no right to phone me as neither me or my wife have any accounts whatsoever with them. Very suspect...!

got a call from this number saying they are barclaycard fraud department, did'nt trust the recording and option of which months I was born and called barclaycard and they say that they had not tried to call me and it was a fraudulent call and they would ask different security questions, just don't give out any information EVER

Received this automated call about an hour ago and it is genuine.  Some-one has my bank card details and Barclays had declined several suspicious payments.  Never asked for pin numbers or card numbers or anything - did ask security question though.  Something only Barclays would know.  If they had not been on the ball I would have been down almost £2000.  If you can't confirm any of the recent transactions then you are put through to a real person who was very helpful. Didn't answer the call but glad I called them back - card cancelled and awaiting a replacement.

Not a scam, completely genuine and a service I am very happy to receive.  Thanks Barclays!

I just called them it is a genuine call all they ask for is dob out of 3 options nothing else to prove its you then read out the last 5 transactions made on your account then you ask you to confirm if these are correct or not if not they connect you to the Barclays fraud team.

Had 5 missed calls from this number on New Years Eve!! Automated service that ended up triggering the answer machine. Only one of the messages actually gave details of who they were and how to contact them - Barclays fraud dept. Phoned the number today - another automated service saying they were trying to contact someone who doesn't even live here and that it was vital that she called them - as I had pressed the number that indicated I wasn't the said person the message said they could not proceed with the call and I should ask the mystery person to call them. No human intervention! so I called Barclays fraud line from internet numbers - spoke to 'human being' who said I should call into my local branch and tell them that they had the wrong number for their customer!! When I explained I am very busy and don't have time to do their job for them I was told to just ignore all the calls I keep getting!!!!!  So outcome is unless I use my valuable time (and money to park in town) our mystery person runs the risk of fraud on their card, and I continue to get hassled by calls that I know are to the wrong number!!! Great system Barclays - thank god I haven't (and have never had!) an account with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a call from this no. today, I called back on barclays fraud department number and they have verified that this no. is genuine.

reply to it. I replied and I discovered that some [***] made 20transactions with my debit card.

Not geniune, this is a new phone and my name is most definately not Maxwell and nor am I with barclays. Try again scammers!

This IS a genuine number for barclays fraud team. Call their 0160423230 to confirm it. I got a call from this 0845 number when I incorrectly entered details for a transaction.

This is 100% genuine. I, like a few who have posted on here was a bit sceptical about it because of the automated service. However, i rang the number back and the robot confirmed the name of the account in question, then asked me to confirm my date of birth (from a choice of 3) and then went through the previous 5 transactions. If i didn't recognise 1 or more i was asked to press '2' on the keypad. Then i was put through to a real person who again went through the transactions, though more detailed, and once it was clear i hadn't made these purchases the operator said my card was being blocked immediately and will recieve a new one within 3 working days (after requesting my address). Again, 100% genuine, make sure you ring them back as it could save you a lot of problems!

Can confirm that it is definitely 100% genuine, had a call from this number, was an automated service, I had to confirm my DOB and also had 5 transactions read out to me, was a bit suspicious of one so decided to press option to speak to the Fraud Team, they confirmed to me what the transaction was for, which I could then remember doing! So it is definitely NOT a scam!

I was just called by this number what a great service i had made quite a few very small purchases via paypal for items outside the uk they rang me within 30 seconds of me completing the transaction all those people that moan about them calling prob have more money than sense and deserve to get ripped off!!

This company have called me 4 times today and left voicemail messages too.  They are really persistent and need to be stopped.

Barclays fraud number, I didn't answer the call and let the machine get it. They had my name wrong on the message they left so i didn't trust it.
I called the number Barclays have on their website, they could find nothing wrong with my account but the call seems to be genuine - They put my calls down to a possible "cross info" error.
