I was called by 0845 351 2291 (automated message asking me to call Barclays Fraud Team on 0845 351 2262).

Instead, I looked on the Barclays web site (from my bookmarks folder) and found a different phone number on there.

There had been at least 3 fraudulent transactions in the last 24 hours, but probably no more than that.

TIP: never call a number given to you by a cold caller. Instead, call the number on the back of your credit or debit card and you can safely answer their security questions as you know who you're talking to.

We have had the same call and didn't select any of the options. We got the correct phone number for barclays fraud dept from the barclays web site and phoned them directly. We gave them the number that called us. This number isn't barclays. It is a fraudulent call. One of the options on this call is to take the number to call back if you aren't the person they have asked for. Take this number and report it to barclays.

They rang my lanline after I didnt answer mobile, automated fraud prevention call, the confirm dib and ask you to confirm a list of transactions on your account, they request no info 100% legit

Yet another nuisance caller.

its a scam i have had 6 calls from this number today ignored it i DONT and NEVER have had a barclays account so beware the scammers will put messages on here to convince you be warned it is a scam and barclays do not acknowledge this number

Barclays bank, I have called them back on the telephone number, which is available on their website. And yes, they called me, because unauthorised company wanted to charge my card L1400 and they had already charged L10 deposit. The bank had blocked my accound because of the fraud, thanks god!

THESE CALLS ARE GENUINE - my mother, yesterday, had £1 taken by Snapfish. These £1's are a tester by the fraudsters. An attempt to take £108 by Wonga, The thieving B******s, was blocked by the bank.
YOU MUST TAKE NOTICE OF THESE CALLS.

Just another thing to add, when my mother, who is 84, spoke to Barclays Fraud Team, she spoke to a foreign person whose English was good but difficult to understand. Now I'm not being racist BUT somebody whose mother tongue was English would have been for more satisfactory for a matter as important as this.

This one called my answerphone and left a partial message of multiple choice. If it is Barclays they don't have my home number AFAIK, but they could find it with difficulty. Probably not Barclays.

I just got 2 calls from this number tonight- one to my mobile and then when I cut that off- one to my landline. Both recorded messages pertaining to be from Barclays. However I was suspicious when they asked for my date of birth and cancelled both calls without answering. I've heard from some people that this is genuinely Barclays fraud and from others that it is a scam. I'm going into the branch tomorrow to see the manager, to try and verify once and for all. I'm concerned as while my bank has my landline, I never told them my mobile number! Just to warn people.

It is a genuine Barclays fraud check. They will leave a message giving another number which is personal to you and will do an electronic check to ensure no fraud has taken place. I was impressed. So do ring them to safeguard yourself...

Barclays Bank Fraud department you can us 08003891652 for the same department instead of the 0845 number

I called back today to 08453512291 and found that £29 had been taken from my bank account.
This is a scam and I would like to see them hung drawn and quartered.

I have repeated calls from 08453512291  and if the claim is genuine, Barclays will suspend your card and ask you to go to branch. The owner of this number is a fraud. They can not get the basic details correct which indicate that it is fraud.w

The telephone companies are to blame and they should vet companies before accepting money for a telephone number

I am getting calls from this number saying they are Barclays Fraud Dept, press any key to continue. DON'T.

I checked with the fraud dept. and they definitely are not trying to contact me, so report it to the number on the back of the card. Did this but they don't have a clue what to do about it (LOL) and all I can do is tell the local police.

I am not falling for this scam, so basically couldn't care less, I just thought Barclays might like to catch  the perpetrators.

This is definitely Barclays Fraud Department.  They rang my mobile, sent a text message and rung my house phone.  Didn't think it was genuine at first but had my card deactivated and a new one sent to me.  Thank goodness they were on to the fraudulent transaction.
