Just looked at this thread as I had a call from this number. Someone has mentioned Bham Midshires.....it most likely is them as I have a mortgage with them and they are from collections department. Everytime I do speak to them, they are very helpful and understanding. Thats quite rare as most people from collection departments from every company ive spoken to are complete w****rs!!!

These idiots have called me 23 times in one week. They are unbearably rude and unhelpful and tend to call around 8am but on one particular day it was every hour for 9 hours.

I've answered on a few occasions and spoken to them in the hope they might get the message that I am not the person they are asking for and that they clearly have the wrong number as I don't bank with them (or ever will now). It makes NO difference. I've asked to speak to a manager but this is always refused and they just keep harking on at me to confirm who I am despite refusing to confirm who they are or what they want. By the way, any cold caller legally has to state who they are, where they are calling from and what they are calling about.

I have called the RBS complaints line only to be told that I have to request the calls to stop by speaking to the nearest branch to where I live but when I called them they insisted that no one would call before 9.15am or after 8pm. This is a lie. I was called at 8.22am this morning. Apparently that isn't possible..despite the evident missed call from this number on my mobile with the time recorded. Apparently I now have to write to the branch manager personally to request that they stop. Somehow I know this won't work either.

I think those of you that have advised you ignore the number are right, although they will probably persist in calling. Failing that the best way is to call your phone service provider and ask them to ban the number as a nuisance caller. Ofcom advise this as the first option you should take. That is certainly my next course of action. Best of luck to you all. It's no wonder the banking industry is a mess. They REALLY don't care and are staffed by people who REALLY don't care.

Rang me at 8.15am, didn't answer it as thought it would ne a sales call. Received 3 further calls during the day, which I ignored. I answered a call at 4pm and they asked to speak to Miss Handley, I said they had the wrong number (it's not me). At 6pm I received a further call asking for Miss Handley, I explained the above and asked not to be contacted again.  Just received a further silent call at 7.30pm.  Ready to give abuse at the next attempt!!!!

Call my house number about 4 times a day, once at 0800, again at about 1230, then again at about 1830, and then the last one about 2015.
They also call my mobile about 8 times a day.

When I answer they ask for me(my name) So I say speaking, then they ask me to confirm my details, before telling me what the call is about.
Upon discovering this number is Halifax, chasing a payment I contacted Halifax who told me my loan account (only account I owe money on) was up to date.

How do I get these to stop calling

Yeah, still receiving calls today after my husband gave the last caller last night some pretty harsh words.  First call for Miss Handley at 8.30, one at 1.30, 6pm, 8.04pm.  I did however receive a text message from this number stating it was British gas, please contact 08701200812.  Hmm...looking forward to tomorrows batch of calls where we have the Star Wars voice keyring ready to answer the calls.

Someone from 08456029441 called my home number in early December & asked for me by name. Having had a heart attack the previous day I was in hospital. my elderly mother took the call. She cant remember who they claimed to be but she says they just hung up when she explained I was very ill in hospital. 10mins later they called again & did the same again. This has continued right thru my stay in hospital over the christmas & new year period. Upon comming back home the calls continued & mother gave them my mobile number. I now get anything between 3 to 12 calls a day at all hours on both phones. If my voicemail picks up they leave no message if I pick up all I get is background noise & a click as they hang up or someone who I can hardly hear asking if I am me. My voice still is not back to normal yet so I will give the benefit of the doubt to them but when I ask them to comfirm who they are & why they want me to give my name & d o b they just hang up.  Can only assume after reading this thread it's to do with me closing my accounts at hbos when it looked like they may go under. I suppose they can afford to make all these dead calls to people on mobiles now we tax payers are picking up their fone bills etc

Any problems regarding debt collection, if they are being abusive complain to the Office Of Fair Trading (google it), and trading standards if they are frequent i.e. amount to harassment.

Any problems with unsolicited sales ask to be removed and if they continue register with the Telephone Preference Service, after which time you they can be fined if they continue.

    Carl,

I'd recommend contacting Trading Standards about these calls, you can find out your local one by enterring your postcode here.

    http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/

Outline your situation and politely request their help to end these calls.... they normally take notice of a body such as Trading Standards that can prosecuted under the administration of justice act.

More than a couple a week would constitute harassment, 3-12 a day is completely out of order.

These people are reliant on the fact that people won't complain or know how to so I would do that very thing.

Likewise if its a financial matter I would consider complaining to the Office Of Fair Trading outlining simply what has happened here, its also prosecuteable under the Protection From Harassement Act what this caller is doing.

Last week I received a phone call from this number looking for someone called Mr. Pogue.  I explained they obviously had the wrong number!  This person has since phoned me at least 6 times and I have also received a text saying - 'Dear Mr. J Pogue, please contact AA Personal Finance on 08701200812. wwwtheaa.com'.

    halifax customer
Its 10.15 am on a Sunday morning....and yes another of these early am calls. Common with the rest of the messages posted on here. The phone just goes blank...When you phone 0870 number, the staff are generaly in a non listening mood, and have answers for you before you finish a question/statement.( Mabe thats why we do not see fotune tellers at the sea side any more....they are all employed by halifax). To be honest I am  in arrears of 40% of one payment.I am in my last year of paying off a loan. In August after 3yrs of on time payments, one was missed, when on holiday abroad.( my account got raided by a  very large direct debit called by mistake from a utility company). The first I knew of this when they called me on my mobile when still abroad. I thought this was explained in our first converstion...however I was still bombarded with calls for the rest of my time abroad . They told me they could not stop the calls even though that had access to my account and could see.
When I came back, I made contact payed 60% of the missed instalment and explained that the remainder will be payed when I speak to the manager, and recive an apolagy...hundreds of calls later, I have still not spoken to one...eventhough, I am told one will call withih 24hrs.I have now recived a default notice ( yes for 40% of one payment ).Oviously I have now sent a letter of complaint to halifax, listing calls that I have recorded and a bill for my calls and time, with the hope of reciving a  deadlock letter. This will then allow me to take it to the finacial omnibusman.( My huntch is that they will appolagise and pay up )
    The assertive phone calls are all part of a policy...and the only way it will change is for them to review it...and the public influence the outcome....I suggest if enough people take the following actions , they will look at it ( especialy as we are stakeholders now). They are;
1  Take a note of when each call is made this is easy with mobile phones.
2  If you have the facility on your mobile record the call.
3  If you dont call there bluff and ask them if it is bieng recorded...and just ask them if they have any objections of you recording the call. ( most will automaticaly think you are...even though you are just asking the question)
4  Ask them to read your notes on the system
5  Ask for the name and address of who to write to , what the fee is (max £10)to obtain copies of these and recordings of the call. This is a legal requirementwhich they must provide.
    6. Make the effort to obtain them ( it only takes 15 mins and loads of templates on line)....They work involed for them is tremendous, and expensive. Only needs a few hundred a week to start clogging up the system...there are time limits which they legaly need to stay with in )
    7. Write to the customer compaints about Sunday and late night calls...especialy if you have young children ,( tenplates are avialable on line )they need to reply and investigate( at a cost )...a few hundred of these
will soon put pressure on them from another department
    8. Keep asking to speak to some one else, if they refuse, make a note of it and ask them to put it on the notes. Make sure they read them out to you.
9.Save your phone bills and send an invoice for the call you make to them, and pester them daily asking when they are going to pay. Send them monthly.
    10. If you have difficulties in paying insist on an arrangement ( dont let them tell you thy can not...because if it goes to court this arbitrator will look for what arrangements have been in place)
    11. Agree on a date and time for when they should call you. Take notes if they dont its there fault
Maybe if the public become assertive also, polcy might change ,through the pressure of extra work and expense caused by the actions.
I am sure Halifax ..Bank of Scotland and other agencies read these community posts.......so be ..........
