Been with 02 for about 4 years in total, just under a year on current contract and got phoned by this number today for the first time. Didn't answer but i guess it could be o2 cos i'm due an upgrade in a few weeks and the might be tryin to get in early.

I had this call today, again claiming to be from O2... except that O2 have NEVER rang me, especially off an 0845 number. The guy started telling me that they had decided to offer me a better deal on my contract and asking "Can I confirm the password on the account?" to which I replied "sure, If you can tell me my account number, Address, billing details or anything else other than my name or telephone number!" Of course, he couldn't!

I'd suggest hanging up on this number and certainly DO NOT give out personal info!

I have missed this number a couple of times. I didn't know that this was o2 until today.  I worked for this company when it was Martin Dawes and have had a staff contract for some time.  This company shouldn't been contacting me as a staff tariff and if this continues i will terminated in agreement with them.


I am not happy person as a member of staff not so long ago.

I had a call for this number today they also asked for me to confirm address and post code, when i said that they should be proving themselves to me they confirmed my house nuber and the added value of the numbers in my post code. to confirm they already new it, after confirming a couple of tarif details they did ask about insurance and also confirmed when upgrades would be avalible. they were quite helpfull, though at first i did think the call a bit dodgy.

i got a call from them yesterday and they offered me an early upgrade!! yay! i said i didnt know wot phone i wanted so they r supposed to be phoning me back but i couldnt wait so i phoned o2 themselves and they didnt know anything about it but they also confirmed that its a seperate part of o2 that pick people out at random and give them this offer nut u have to take it up there and then! :( just hoping she keeps her word and phones me back. x

I've recently cancelled my phone contract with O2 so this is most likely their retention dept.

I was amazed I could Google this number and get a response! I've just recently cancelled my contract with O2 and am now getting phone calls, I won't be responding now I know what it'll be about:-)

I got a new phone on 14th march, and today, I got a call off the number. I thought at first that it was something like Car Insurance sellers but i googled the number and ths came up! It looks like everybody with O2 has this problem!

It is a o2 number, the reason they ask for address and postcode is for Data protection, they have the details but cant confirm them back yo you until you confirm them to them as this is part of Data protection, if they did this then they could get a fine of up to £30k.

People need to chill out and realise that not everybody who phones them is calling to rip them off or steal their identity.

Oh and also if you call back to o2 they wouldn't have any details of the call unless you actually confirmed the details to the person who called you as they wouldn't have been able to enter your account to leave any proof without your consent.

Yep i've had the same number phoning me about 2-3 times a day since i took up an O2 contract a few days ago. I've actually managed to miss every one of the calls so haven't had the pleasure of speaking to the sales rep yet!

Aint answered it yet because my ring tune is quite good at the mo and therefore keep missing everyones call.

Keep getting called, no-one talks. Its irritating.

Had three calls from this number hang up when i answer have found out that who ever is calling us uses speed dial to ten numbers the first to answer the other nine get cut off telesales of some sort yes i just got new contract phone off o2 as well i think o2 should be getting a call from us how are people getting our new numbers?? ps did everyone cancel your insurance before the seven days i did

The number 0845 863 0287 is legit!
I rang o2 back fearing that this was a scam and found out that it was kosher.
The guy was ringing me to ask me about upgrading my phone, which I had just done at an o2 store a few days ago.

You can now upgrade your o2 online contract phones at their stores rather than online and you still get the online deals!

It also saves you having to wait for the phone to arrive through the post and, if there's any problems, you can just pop into the store to see a sales person. :-)

They keep calling me and i answered once but no1 said anything. Worried they will have charged me loads for answering. I'm also on O2 Contract!

i received a call from this number and when i answered the agent told me i could upgrade my handset and they would send it within 4 working days.I then called 02 customer service and there was no notes on the acc and no phone had been ordered.The person i spoke to rang the number and confirmed it was an offical 02 phone number but was unable to speak to any one as it does not accept incoming calls.

I keep receiving calls from this number. I answered only once and they said they were calling from O2 and mentioned that I was entitled to an upgrade or 500 pounds credit. It sounded very suspicious as I'd upgraded my mobile at the beginning of February. So I went to a O2 shop and the guy there told me to ignore them cause they are probably calling from some marketing companies..hope this helps!
