- RossiI've just missed a call from this number but I have just cancelled my o2 contract so I dont think its for insurance
- moi have read through all your comments and agree these calls are annoying havent answered one but you can get upto three a day annoying.
- MI just had a missed call from this number....and called it back. A recording stated that it was a "courtesy call" from O2, checking that everything was OK with my new phone.
I shall be very annoyed if they attempt to sell me anything as I specifically opted out of sales / marketing calls...if they are attempting to sell (probably insurance?), they will be in breach of the data protection act... if this happens to you, be sure to contact your local Trading Standard office! - johnThe number 08458630287 is a genuine O2 number, They called me Yesterday about a upgrade I am due in about 2 weeks. They also asked me for my address, postcode, etc. They also asked for my password on the account, which they give me a clue, so I knew this was a genuine call. I explained to o2, that many people are worried about this number 08458630287, and they didn't know if it was genuine or not. I also told them it would be a good Idea to advertise this, and they thought it was a good Idea, one last thing, to all the paranoid people out there, this is a genuine O2 number, and you have nothing to worry about.
- admanive had my phone since monday and started getting these calls yesterday, had 4 so far and havent answerd one yet as they only ring for a matter of seconds. very odd indeed.
- vikkiI cancelled my contract with o2 a couple of days ago, ive been getting calls since. Ive had 2 today, the 1st one gave me a clue for my password..
they offered me a £5 a month contract with 75 mins and 250 txts and told me that i could choose a new phone or have £75 discount. I asked him to send me the info and he said he couldnt because they have no info to send in their part of "o2" i told him to phone me back tomorrow so i can think about it but the offer only lasts 24 hours...?
Does this sound dodgy or what? Bit to good to be true??- Caller: o2?
- vikkiI just phoned o2 and told them about the phone call, she told me that its the o2 outbound call center.
I asked if the offer sounded right and she said that they do give really good offers to try and keep you with o2 and that its not a scam or anything.
They arnt linked so she couldnt get them to call me back, i have to wait for them to call me which shouldnt take long on past experience...- Caller: o2
- SteveThey are from a third party phone insurance company and are not in any way linked to O2 though they make themselves out to be.
They will ask you if you want to half your current phone insurance contract but what they are actually doing is poaching you from your operators insurance (usually get 1 month free)- Caller: Phone-protect
- JohnSteve you do not know what you are talking about, this is a O2 number, I dealt with them 2 days ago, they knew everything about me, even my password. They never mentioned Insurance to me, so how can you say they offer Insurance. I know all about scams, phone scams, phishing emails, nigerian 419 emails, I deal with spammers everyday, so get your facts right before you make negative comments. you are proberly only saying this because you have something against O2, or you are competing with O2
- Caller: O2
- ABC"have found out that who ever is calling us uses speed dial to ten numbers the first to answer the other nine get cut off"
Where did you get this information, because i guarentee you it's wrong.
"how are people getting our new numbers??"
It is o2 calling so they already have your number. - ABC!"Worried they will have charged me loads for answering."
Unless you were outside of the UK when they called you will not be charged. - sss"I keep receiving calls from this number. I answered only once and they said they were calling from O2 and mentioned that I was entitled to an upgrade or 500 pounds credit"
Think you must have mis heard them as its usually a new phone or a credit of £100 or £180, sometimes you can also get an early upgrade if they call you.- Caller: o2
- DAVE"They are from a third party phone insurance company and are not in any way linked to O2 though they make themselves out to be.

i dont understand, loads and loads of people on here have already stated that this is defo an o2 number, instead of all of you thinking people are trying to steal your identity, simply ring o2 from your phone and and they will assure you that this is 100% o2. - SarahI've had these calls for about a month now and have recently canx my contract with O2. I also received a ltr in the post from 02 regarding upgrading. My boyfriend has also recevied these calls - advertising insurance and my was advertising upgrades - both the same number! The number is for a call centre who deal with various different sales things inc o2 upgrades and insurance. Pls stop arguing amongst yourselves about who the number is for as the answer is both. Either answer it or simply ignore it - the choice is yours!
- JimHow do you get them to call you back or is it not possible?
- Caller: 02
- 123If you asked them to call you back, they will, if you didnt or you hung up on them its likely they wont.
- vikkiThey phoned me back, i sorted out a new phone and extended my contract with O2 with huge discounts! The phone arrived a couple of days ago from O2 and everything seems pretty normal to me!
- Caller: O2!!!!
- J BallymoneyIs there a regulator or someone who can stop O2 passing on numbers when people take out contracts?
- superbluesJust had a call from these.it was o2 asking if i wanted an upgrade because i was eligable. funny i upgraded a month ago at an o2 shop you would have thought they should have known that!!
- Caller: o2
- PAUL FROM LANCASHIREI have been getting calls from 08458630287, and I emailed O2 about the clls from this number, and I went onto customer forum and I have sent a legal notice to O2 that if they ring me again I WILL take O2 through the Courts. And instead of putting Yours Sicerely, I put VERY BAD TEMPER CUSTOMER, so fingers cross
