I had several missed calls from this number since Monday (when I took out a contract with O2).

A couple of times I tried to answer but they didn't seem to hear me and hung up and it was becoming quite a nuisance.

Receievd a call again just now and finally spoke to someone - it was just a call to:

    ~ welcome me to O2,
~ ask how I was finding the phone so far (not that I've used the new one as my number hasn't been ported over yet),
~ inform me when my number would be ported and
~ inform me when my billing date would be.

He asked if I had any questions and said I could call 202 from my mobile if I had any other queries / problems.

They shouldn't be calling for another nine months now according to the guy I spoke to!

Having read the comments already posted, I'm wondering whether it is O2 calling me as well.  I have just signed up to an O2 package, and the minute I did, I have been having at least 6 calls from this number a day - yet when you pick the call up, no one speaks to you.  I hope I'm not being charged for these calls I've picked up!!!!!

I've had the same calls. Worryingly, O2 knew nothing about it.

Just got a call from this number, didn't answer but I have been on my contract for about 11 months now on an 18 month contract, why would they ring me??

I had a call yesterday eve and a call a little while ago.  Both times a missed it.  It is worrying to read some of the above comments and that people are being scammed!  Surely O2 should be doing something about this to protect it's customers??!  I have been with 02 for a few years now and never had a problem like this until now.  I recently renewed my contract a couple of months ago.  If anyone has more info on this, please post as the more people that can be warned, the better!!  I now know not to answer this call!

    THis is definitely NOT o2!!!!
rang back and all you get is a dodgy message saying something like
" Thanks for calling O2. Sorry we have not been able to speak to you earlier, Speak soon, Bye"
spoke to O2 themselves and they said that they will always ask for your security password when they call... which that number did not...

They told me that they are calling from o2 and the reason was to update me on the services available like receiving games, concert tickets, sports etc. Didn't ask about insurance and only asked for the first line of my address and postcode.

Had this number call me today, totally ignored it. Typed it into google and got this webpage - Alot of them seem to be "new contacts" where as ive still got 9 months to go.

o2 are a great company, shame these idiots get their customers details

I too have had a call from this number. I am worried now after reading the above comments. The only details I gave were the first line of my address and my post code. The guy even knew my email address. The guy wanted to get me to receive alerts about about sporting events, concerts at the O2 etc. He didn't mention anything about insurance.

Received this call 5 minutes ago - I've been an O2 customer for over a year.  When I picked up, there was a silent pause then the lady asked for me by name then requested the first line of my address - as she was checking their records were correct  - I refused and she advised me that was fine, but if I had any problems to call O2 customer services!  If you receive this call, just reject it.

I've been with o2 for 4 years now... and this number has only just started calling me today - already 3 missed calls!  I phoned them back and it was an automated voice saying that it was o2 and they would phone me back later...??  Why would they be welcoming me after all these years??

I've also just received a missed call from this number; I’ve also had my contract for a while now, so unsure why O2 would be calling now.

Have a feeling I got lots of dodgy calls at the beginning of my contract when I answered, they were silent or hung up immediately...never spoke to anyone and suddenly they just stopped.

Just received a missed call from this number about an hour ago. Thought i'd type it into google and I came across this site. I'm an 02 customer but im on month 15 of an 18 month contract!

Very strange how these people know our details. They are surely not 02 as they would ask for your security answer/password. And the call just seems dodgy to me. Companies do not randomly ring customers to verify personal details over the phone. Especially not verifing the phone number they used to call you! Even stranger though is how they aren't even trying to sell everyone something. What are they achieving with these calls? Maybe trying to earn your trust and next time try and con you with fake insurance??

I am on O2 but I'm not a new customer, almost 1 year into an 18 month contract. I just recieved a call from this 0845 number about 5 mins ago.

When I answered, there was a slight pause which let me hear the noisy call centre in the background, then a woman with a strong northern accent asked for me by my full name. It seemed a bit dodgy to me so I just told her she had the wrong number and she ended the call - which suggests it definitely wasn't O2 calling!

From reading through this forum, it seems like O2 have sold their customer's details or had them stolen. Either way they're useless [***].

I just got a call two minutes ago from this number. Unlike most people thou I have not just started my contract I have been on it for years and they did not want to sell me insurance, they wanted to confirm my "details", I hung-up straight away!

THIS NOT O2! They do not ring on a 0845 nunber this is a scam do not pass any details to them and if possible do not even answer!

Yeah, seems to be a pattern here.. O2.

They're either selling you insurance or they're a third party asking about your contract and if you're due a renewal... new deals etc etc.

    A load of rubbish basically

I've had this number ring me every day for about 3 weeks now. Haven't answered it once. I'm not even on a fixed-term contract - I'm on a 1 month rolling sim-only contract! I figured it would be some [***] company trying to sell me something so I ignored it. Now that I know they're trying to scam me, I'll reject their calls even faster.

If only mobiles had a "block list" where calls from numbers on it would be immediately rejected without the option to leave voicemail.
