- "Miss D Persil"Apparently Miss D Persil owes Thames water money for at least 4 years. And for at least 4 years, various credit agencies have been ringing me. I am male, and not even in the Thames water area. I repeatedly tell them they have the wrong number, and things usually go quiet - for just a year! Then Thames pass everything on to another agency, and it starts again. AT the mo, I'm having nasty chats with a scouser who randomly hangs up whilst I'm trying to explain. I try to keep calm, but he keeps intewrrupting, and sending my blood pressure up! He asks for my address - no way!
Thames are no help.- Caller: intrum Justitia
- viki keep getting silent calls from this number too, how do i block the number? i'm with virgin media just now, do they have a service like this?
- Mrs MHello can i speak to Mrs M,Yes speaking then hang up,not calling them back,going to add to barred list asap...
- Caller: Intrum justia
- JillI've had a few silent calls from this number recently but not sure how long it has been going on for as usually I am at work. Just had a call from them which went as follows: -
Caller: Hi this is Vicky from Intrum Justitia, can I speak to ***************.
Me: Speaking.
Caller: I am calling in relation to your account with us.
Me: Which account would this be?
Caller: It's a British Gas account. Before I can discuss it, please confirm the first line of your address and post code.
Me: And why on earth would I give you those details
Caller: Why not?
Me: You could be anyone.
Caller: Well further action will be taken against you [hangs up].
I moved into this flat a few months ago and British Gas were the suppliers but we are just finishing up getting changed over to Eon (who we were with at our old property). All bills from when we moved in have been paid.
I've had letters from another litigation company about some money due from before we moved in but British Gas are aware of when we moved in and the letters have all been addressed to The Occupier rather than naming anyone so I am fairly certain this is not the same 'debt' the phone call referred to.
I work in the legal business, formerly debt collection, so quite frankly I hope they do attempt to take further action. :-)- Caller: Intrum Justitia
- JillI received another call 10 minutes after the one mentioned above.
Caller: Can I speak to ***********. I'm calling from Intrum Justitia.
Me: Speaking. Are you the same person who called 10 minutes ago from your company?
Caller: You have two accounts with us; one for gas, one for electricity.
Good to know!
This lady was a lot more polite and helpful, she explained the amounts outstanding and the periods they relate to and acknowledged that it was fair enough for me not to remember the exact date of all payments made. She explained there were letters on the way to us (which I look forward to receiving!) before ending the call.
I suspect this can be resolved but I would at least expect a 'reminder' bill from British Gas about any amounts they claim are unpaid before passing the accounts to such a cowboy debt collection company. - andreI have no idea why they call me daily. They never leave a message, and never talk when I answer. SO ANNOYING> What can I do????
- an otherThe Administration of Justice Act 1970.
Section 40 of the act provides that a person commits an offence if, with the object of coercing another person to pay money claimed from the other as a debt due under contract, he or she:
1. harasses the other with demands for payment which by their frequency, or the manner or occasion of their making, or any accompanying threat or publicity are calculated to subject him or his family or household to alarm, distress or humiliation;
2. falsely represents, in relation to the money claimed, that criminal proceedings lie for failure to pay it;
3. falsely represent themselves to be authorised in some official capacity to claim or enforce payment;
4. utters a document falsely represented by him to have some official character or purporting to have some official character which he knows it has not.
Paragraph (1) above does not apply to anything done by a person which is reasonable (and otherwise legal) for the purpose of:
* of securing the discharge of an obligation due, or believed by him to be due, to himself or to persons for whom he acts, or protecting himself or them from future loss; or
* of the enforcement of any liability by legal process.
It is also provided that a person may be guilty of an offence under paragraph (1) above if he concerts with others in the taking of such action as is described in that paragraph, notwithstanding that his own course of conduct does not by itself amount to harassment. - ClarenceJust happen to be working from home this weekend and have had 2 calls from a woman from this number. Both times I was asked to confirm I was Mr xxxx. I asked who she was and what she wanted. She said it was a private matter for Mr xxxxx only. I said that this number is registered with the TPS and she should not be calling it. She did not seem bothered by this but said I would be removed from the database. I said make sure that happens, but as I got the second call today, it doesn't seem to be the case.
Virgin don't seem to have a call barring service so if it happens again I'll have to threaten them with a harassment case!
C. - Ali6 calls today on my mobile!!! no one there when I answer, no messages if I don't answer. POINTLESS

- DavidHad 5 messages on my answering machine after coming back from a short holiday, 4 of them belonging to this number, all of them asking for Sarah. None of the messages identified the company they were working for. Nobody with that name lives in my house, so I delete them. The next day they call asking for Sarah again, I tell them that she doesn't live here. They call back the day after asking for Sarah. I tell them that they've called on numerous occasions and keep asking for a person who doesn't live here. Caller doesn't bother listening and hangs up.
Very rude, don't listen to explanations, and insist on chasing a ghost with a wrong number. Good luck trying to get Sarah's debts from me. - Brenda RochelleNo message but wondered who it was looked up and i saw this site so am reporting it incase it can help me identify who it is.
- LauraThey have been harassing me for weeks. They do not speak, jsut stay silent. Only once they spoke and thats when they asked for my bank details with no explanation.
- Caller: 08703330159
- DavidThey've called every day since my last message (except weekends, rude people need breaks too) usually around mid-morning. They've called so many times asking for the same person I now answer their phonecalls with "Sarah doesn't live here, stop calling", even if its just their automated system holding my call for an operator.
Dear Sarah,
Pay your damn bills!
Sincerely, David - CHARLOTTECOMPANY PHONE ME NEARLY DAILY FOR SOMEONE THAT I DONT EVEN KNOW, HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE MY NUMBER OFF THAT ACCOUNT FOUR TIMES AND IT IS NEVER DONE. HAVE TOLD THEM IF IT CARRIES ON I WILL BE TAKING LEGAL ACTION FOR HARRASSMENT.
