- JonI have had this same phone call for a number of months now, the man with the "indian accent". He varies his company, but is quite often calling from "UK survey". Worryingly he seems to know my address, phone number and house number, and spent the most recent calls desperately trying to get me to tell him our phoneline service provider. He practically begged me to say it was BT- seems very dodgy to me.
The caller is also rude- I literally just shouted at him down the phone to stop calling, and he would not take it. He also threatened my sister with the police for being rude to him!
Also worth noting, my calls are leaving a "we do not have the number" on 1471.
Anyone else experiencing this?- Caller: UK Survey
- ClaireI am tired of this too. Sounds like the same person to me. Does not take any notice of what I say. He hasn't got my first name right once.
Have told him I use none of the providers for phone or utilities that he lists on numerous occasions. Am sick to death of it.
Anyone know what can be done? - Mrs D Bubb-PorterReceived call 10 24am this morning 14th November 2008
When answered the caller hung up - AyshaI had a call from this number, when i answered the call nobody spoke. I checked the number on the internet and apparently its a scam number....

You will see that a call back will cost you over 80p per minute. I think that they are enticing people to call back by hanging up if you answer their call.- Caller: Scam???

Option 1 is their sales line. Call them and inform them that you are receiving abusive unwanted calls from their Company and that they are to remove your details from their database immediately.
At that point they will ask you for your details. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING BUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER! They need nothing more than your number to stop these calls.
They say that it will take 30 days to remove your number from their lists and if they call in the meantime ask to speak to a manager (yeah right, that would happen).
Good luck guys, don't let these idiots get you down.- Caller: Vonage
- GeorginaI have just received a phone call from this number and thankfully all he got out of me was my electric and gas company. I was really annoyed and got shirty with him as I was asleep at the time. I did 1471 and tried to ring back, trouble was it was unavailable.

- nataliehad 3 calls in the last few weeks form this number, each time from a foreign guy saying "so you are using british gas yeh?" which im not!so i feel like he's fishing for info, fed up and a bit worried about how much these people seem to know about all the other people commenting.
- MI had a call from this number and they asked me who my gas and electricity supplier was. When I started to ask why they were asking this/who they were, the woman just shouted at me and hung up.
I've found some interesting info on this number at: http://www.scamtypes.com/anyone-had-a-call-from-091148.html - AtEHHad numerous calls from these annoying [***] over the last few weeks. Each time they try to find out which energy provider we're with. They usually say they want to confirm we're with British Gas but have also mentioned the other major energy providers.
When I ask who they are, they claim to be calling from "UK" or from "Verification Department" or from "UK Verification" or similar (usually in an almost unintelligible indian accent) and seem very put out when I tell them to get stuffed.
After a particularly incomprehensible indian chap called me today and failed to get anything from me, I got a second call literally a few minutes later from someone who spoke much better English who tried to argue that I may as well tell them what they wanted to know as they'd keep calling otherwise.
When I asked who he worked for, he claimed it was "UK Major Brands" and I told him that was BS and he then went on to claim he was based in London. I again asked for the name of his company, company address and phone number and he refused and asked me why I wanted that information. I told him it was so I could write a complaint letter and report them and he told me that "we both know you won't do anything with that information so you may as well just answer my questions and we'll be done". He then went on to try to prove that he already had lots of information by reading out an address he claimed was mine and tried to get me to confirm this. When I again refused to confirm, and reiterated that I wanted to know who he was, where he got my number from and who he worked for, he eventually hung up.
