I've never come across any of these people but I have seen their booth in the Milford mall down by FYE I think it was and Payless Shoes. Even from what I've heard about this from other people they say it's absolutely fake and there's nothing to get out of it. Sure, you might end up with some great shots of your kids but for over $500? Please, some parents spend more money on their kids' high school senior pictures. This is absolutely fishy and since they don't tell you beforehand that they need the money then it absolutely looks suspicious.

    scam!!
i was stopped in the mall by a girl who was really sweet and clueless to exactly  what interface is about.  i had been stopped before in the mall but never took it seriously.  i decided to check it out see maybe i could do this part time or something so i went to speak with someone there.  the girl there was just gushing about how beautiful i was and how it didnt matter that i was only 5'5.  she couldnt stop talking about my beauty and how well i would do as a model or extra.  they she pulls out a sheet of prices that i would have to pay for a head shot and it was outrageous!!!  they pictures ranged from 500 to 1500!!  i told her that i couldnt afford to pay for it since i am a student and dont work.  she told me that she would charge my credit card and in three days if i decided not to continue that i could mail them and let them know.  i started getting really concerned since she was being so pushy.  i gave her my credit card but for luckily and unluckily someone on else had already gotten to my credit card and was charging up a storm and a fraud alert was put on it and it wouldnt got through.  then she told me to give her another credit card and she would put it on there....when i told her that i dont want to max out my cards she was like ok ill split it up on to different credit cards.  i told her that i cant make a decision like that on the spot that i was feeling too much pressure and that i needed to speak with my mother she told me that i was giving her excuses.  i started to get angry since i felt like she was preying on me.  so i told her very nicely that i would have to think about it and call her back....and i got up and left.  i guess all those shows that they have on tv like oprah and 20/20  really saved my butt....they always said that you should never pay a lot for expensive headshots...not legit company makes you.  now i am trying to take care of the person who stole my credit card info!!!  dont waste your time on this company.....they will tell you everything you want to hear how beautiful you are and all these "success" stories.....save your money and put it towards your kids college or hell buy a big screen tv!!!

    Mom
I was met by a woman in the Danbury Mall who keep telling my 12 year old how gorgeous she was. Which she is, but it was a little over the top. But it was amazing how she blew me off when I said I would have to have my husband the cop now atty check them out first. Then my daughter was not so pretty anymore.

In the Real World of the Business
Every parent think their child can be a superstar. Every parent want their child to be successful. You don't have portfolio's done of children  their appearance change too often. In the real Industry they pay you for the work you bring their company.  If you have the natural talent to act, in a school play, or sing in a church choir and you are discovered because the right person happen to see you or hear you.(Great)Spend your money on Acting classes,or singing lessons, at least from that you are garenteed some training to better that particular talent.  Everyone has to start somewhere, and most of the time, even a clown gets paid to come to your house to perform. Agents get paid after the money is paid to them from the client, photos can be taken on a home Digital or a polaroid camera, send that to an agency, and if that is what your child, mother or dog look like and they want YOU!!!? they will call you to see you in person, and then.... If they sign you, they pay you, not the other way around (EVER).  When your work is printed, or your commercial is aired, get that on tape, cut out the photo that printed in that particular magazine, or newspaper circular from Walmart, or Target or Macy's or wherever it appears in, that is how you build your personal portfolio. You don't ever pay for a contract!!! not 1,000 dollars, not a dime that would even be too much. If you have what it takes and a client who produces the actual work will find their client the right way. Ive been down this road with one Agency, I mailed in a photo of my son, they called me months later, my son looked totally different by the time they called us in, they liked him even better but the agents didn't show any reaction to him being nothing but a product for them because that is exactly what he was going to become, a money making product that represents their company name with a 20% profit from his earnings.  I didn't walk out of that office pressured to sign anything. This is how it worked, They called him when the work was offered, we showed up for endless hours of Commercial work, print work, small parts in big movies, etc. At the end of about a two month waiting period, my 5 year old son received a nice little check. He is now 12 years old and he has a nice little bank account of his own, and we are still with the same company. I call them every now and then to see if theirs any work. I still allow my children to be kids, after all in between the gigs theirs still school, sports and freinds they would rather be part of. No contract, strickly business when it's time to do business. And up until this day the only thing I EVER had to pay for was the gas to drive to a shoot or set of a movie.  The only other thing that the agent ask of us, is that we show up and show up on time.  We fill out a release form the moment we get there (like a time card)the time we arrived, the agency we are with, SS#, and the time we leave. That's it. (Parents) A shoot can last (5) minutes or it can last (5) hours.  A movie gig can last all day on the set with (5) minutes of filming or (6) weeks of driving all over the place and spend (8)hrs a day waiting around to film.  At the end of the day, you go home exhausted, and just remember parents you still have to get up and go to work the next day (most parents) and the kids still have to go to school, even on the set. I love it because it's only sometimes, and I don't pay and haven't paid for anything the last seven years my son have been doing this. Talent scouts hang around the malls, they don't care what you look like or what you can do, they get paid by the hour and the people in these offices get paid a commission for every signed photo shoot and contract signed that's why they pressure you to sign right then and there, leave a deposit, etc. and the endless phone calls to come in.  The photographers for these companies are aslo paid by the hour, the actual owners are living sweet off your hard earned money. The photos taken at these agencies have digital cameras, they spit the photos right out of a printer just like the one you might have in your home office or at cvs, walmart, etc. The photos at these stores cost at least 20 cent a 4x6 40 cent at 70 cents for a 5x7 maybe a dollar an 8x10, and the photos come out just the same if you press the right buttons. If you have 1,000 or more to waste on a ( Let's just see what happens) Knock yourself out!!!! Its a money making scam for these companies, trust me they will dissappearvery soon, only to come back under a different name.  It is the suckers that keep companies like this in business.  All of this model search, amercian idol, and live tv shows have weaken people to think you can become famous over night.  Everyone is already a star, and it's only up to you how your going to shine.

This is a total scam. I programmed this number into my cell phone, and they have been calling me for 5 months 3 x per week, and they never leave a message. I finally called and told them to take me off their list, and they said that my information was on a card that they would have to throw away, so this means that I will have to get another call from them again! UGH!!!

Thank God I read this! I got a call from them today and set up an appointment for Sunday! I already told them that my daughter is represented by Model Club Inc...which is amazing. She's gotten a lot of jobs from that. I'm so glad I read this though! They even used the line, well we're located right across the street from an aquarium, so you can make a day out of it!

One word for JH. why don't you sign up this service by yourself?  you could be a big movie start now.

I Just came back from 35 N Water St in Norwalk. IT IS 1000% SCAM.
long story short.  My wife signed up this in the near by Mall.  As I told by my wife this is just for informaton and whole thing is about help developing talent in our kids.  since then they called us almost everyday,  Especially today many times, This made me very suspecious.

So the meeting  was very similar as all you guys described above. she, "the director" asked us to make decision on the spot. it is very forceful.  I told her we need to think about it because we just come here for information.  She did give us  couple of minute to think about it. I have expressed great hesitation for pay the $800 for headshots. Then she said to me 'this is the chance of life time for your kid what you need to think about.  your kid is so talented I will see your kid will be very successfully in the model. so I give you $100 discount'.  my wife paid using credit card.

Then the director showed us a CD,  said we can purchase the photo CD for $45 dollars.  I immediately asked the her why we hvae to pay for the CD. she said it is copy rights for photographer.  what a joke! we do not even own the pictures after paying $700 dollars. initially I was hoping there is a training listen for modelling.  By the way, we have to prepare the costume as well. Is there any professional studio will not provide costumes?
    anyway, we paid $700 already.
now the really catches come at last when she asked my wife sign the form.  there is the fields on the form ask how may composite cards and photo card we need to print.  composite card ($4.99) photo card ($1.95).  she asked us to put 100 of them to start. another $600.  I was totally awaked up.  What a "F..".  how many photoes are they going to ask us to print down the road? or even update photos?   how many things they have not told us yet?  May the web host?

I felt so bad when I left their office, my wife and kid absolutely did not realize this is a trap, a scam.  I explained to them while driving home.  now it is so abvoius how bad this can be.  thanks for all the information you shared here.  we are calling credit card company to cancel the payment.  hope we can get the money back.

One thing, how can we help others not to become a victom on this?

This thing is  a scam!  Tell the people who run up to you in the mall to their face to [***], that you know it's a scam.  They will not stop calling.  My number was given out by a friend of mine, trying to help out one of the girls who works at the kiosk for this scam.  It's freaking ridiculous.  They never leave a message.  The next time they call I am going to answer and tell them something to make them never call again.

I can't believe the mall allows this.
