I posted an ad on Craigslist yesterday and received a reply asking if the item was still for sale. When I responded yes, I received the below reply. Being a cautious person by nature, I googled the telephone number and was led to this site. I only hope that others will do the same, and they'll be on the lookout for this loser. For the record, my ad was placed in the Atlanta, GA area.

Got the same Scammer today, here in Montana. gave me the line that he was deaf, then he tells me he made a check out that was over priced...what a joke, don't people have better things to do like go to the lake or go for a ride then scam people.

This guy is all over the map.. got it from a Craigslist ad in Florida today.  Sent him back a name and address over at the State Attorneys office (check fraud division).  Will wait and see if he actually sends it or if he figures out where exactly he is sending it to.

I was selling surround sound speakers on Craig's List.  I got the same repsone as Chris' above.

I received an initial email asking for more pictures.  I responded saying I would the next day.  Then I received the same message as Chris' above.

OK, I was laughing in that a "deaf" person wants to buy a surround sound speaker system.

I received a email from this guy in response to a craig list ad i ran-it looked funny, so i googled the number  Bingo!

This guy is too much.  I sent a message saying why would a deaf person buy my speakers and that his email changes every time, etc. He/she/it has the juevos to send a message that says "I resale".

Scam on Craiglist-caller says he is deaf, wants your product, asks for address so secretary will send $.  Then another email saying too much $ has been sent, just cash and immediately wire difference to a "mover" or likewise.

I received an email from the person described above with the phone number included in the email. See below. It was in response to a Craigslist post.

Used it on craigs list to buy some parts I have, he used the name Thomas Chung, and sent me an email telling me that he is deaf, and he sent a draft for $2000.00 and wants me to take it to my bank and cash it and then take what I need for my parts and then  send it to his mover via western union. I knew then that it is a scam. He has 2 different emails. bostonland1@gmail.com, the other one is sunyungchang4@gmail.com. I am suppose to receive this draft by UPS today. Is there anything else you need. I can send you the emails if you have an email address, I will forward them.  Thanks

OK, so we know it's a scam, the question is HOW GOOD is his fake cashier's check?   I'm collecting them.  I have 4 made payable to one of my stuffed animals and I've gotten one really good one with micro print from the Bank of Scotland, one really bad one, and two "moneygram" money orders that look totally real.  So I'm looking forward to what this guy will be sending.  I'm assuming it costs him $10 or so for every UPS overnight check he sends out...

Response to Craig's list ad same as received by Jeremy, 23 March 2009.  Only response came to me in July.  Will Craig's list be looking into this phone number? Number apparently comes from Texas?

What I have learned from this and a subsequent answer to craigslist is to not respond to any inquiry that does not say something specific about my ad.  If the inquiry is generic, such as what is the status of your craigslist ad, I delete it.  That type of generic inquiry can be sent out to thousands.  For me to respond the inquiry has to mention the item I am selling or have a related question specific to that item.  Something that individualizes the inquiry.

I'm really happy I googled this number. I was selling a glass blowing torch and I got an email from this guy "James Burrows", and I felt sorry for him because he said he was deaf.
