- MikeJust got a same call from this number few minutes ago. The man repeated the same story as others heard that someone had my Chinese bank card in China but I never have been there. He confirmed my name and cell number and said to forward me to a Chinese police office in Beijing otherwise they will eliminate my traveling in next two hours. I asked him his name and ID number then asked him title in the office. He said he has no title. At this point, I'm sure this is scam. I told him if he has any legal document to send to me, he must use registered mail. Then he immediately handed on the phone. Don't answer this kind of calls. Scam!!!

- Queens replies to MassachusettsOmg, I also just got a call from this number saying I have an important package I need to pick up at the Chinese Consulate in New York and I followed the instruction and pressed "1". There was a woman speaking Chinese to me and asked for my name. I gave them in English and she hung up right away. I think it's a con. Be alert!

Thank you for sharing your experience on the call you had with that fishy consulate. I wonder what happened when you went to the consulate. Was it legit?
Best,
Kaiwen - CuiI got several calls from this number, claiming to be the Consulate. It's a woman's voice telling me I have important papers from the Chinese government, and to press "1". When I did a man was speaking, I spoke in English with him and he hung up immediately. I searched online, looks like it's a common scam.

- smartcookieMy dad received a phone call in Mandarin, he pressed 1 and it went to a live person, then I heard them talking about there's a warrant under his name, because he has an outstanding credit card balance in Beijing for over $10k (Chinese money)...so they went back and forth about it and the guy transferred him to the "Beijing police department" or whatever, then they proceed to ask for his passport ID. My dad said he doesn't have anything and then hung up.

- MI just received the same call saying he’s from the Chinese consulate and I was involved in a bank fraud in Shanghai and I need to file a report with the Shanghai PD. He asked me for my I’d number I wouldn’t give it to him. He said the Shanghai police department would call me and later they did. They faked the Chinese local number and the guy had a strong Taiwanese accent. It’s a scam!!!! I asked for his name and work ID number but he won’t say so I hang up.

- Pcn1Wow, first time I've received a vm in chinese..fascinating..i agree with former replies....definitely scam, or phishing. Consulate my derriere!!
- KCI just received a call from this # too. I didn't pick up, but a lady left a message in Chinese, which I don't understand what she is saying. It does sound like a recording, not live. I'm sure it's a scam of some sort. I don't have any Chinese friends in NY and they shouldn't even be speaking to me in Chinese if it's urgent. This is the US! Reading all the comments on this, I guess most people deciphered it to be from a scammer pretending to be the Chinese Consulate.

- HutchJust received a call from this number on today on Easter Sunday. Must be robocall spoofing the Chinese consulate, but I didn’t answer and of course, no voicemail was left. I hope they did don’t all the stuff I own that was made in China back. I’ll lose just about everything! 🤪🙃

- MelissaI received the VM and was worried that someone actually stole my identity to open up a visa so I went to the Chinese Consulate office in NY, where they were extremely rude and not helpful. I had to line up to ask a simple question. When it was finally my turn, the lady at gate looked at me like I was stupid and said that it was a scam. If they had your document, they wouldn't have the time to call you. They have hundreds of documents and wouldn't even be able to check my name to see if there was fraud. Based on this, it was very obvious that it was a scam call.
