i receive calls from this number numerous times a day as reflected on my home caller id.  the worse is that earlier today, 7/8/09 i received this call at my place of employment.  let's hope the calls placed by others to the PA bar, gets the job done because i too am a federal employee and would not hesitate to put a definitive end to this blatant thievery and harassment.

T. Landis just contacted my parents and from the beginging they seemed fishy. Is this company a fraud and if so is there any proof. if there is not proof how do you get around not paying them considering there obvious bad reputation.

This is a fraud being run against relatives to collect money on fake debts.  The unsuspecting relative is asked to pay the supposed debt on behalf of the supposed person owing the debt who is typically a son or daughter of the person who is called.

I noticed most of the comments were made in 2008, but this organization is still up to its tricks.They called me and spoke very demanding to make arrangements. When I requested a letter from the office to see if it is a legitimate attorney's office, the lady told me that was frivolous. I need to make arrangements now by giving her my route number to my checking account. I told her that I was not doing that until I receive something in writing from the office. She stated that that was mischief, and I need to give her my information now. I asked to speak with the lawyer, or someone else besides her. She hung up on me after I was demanding for some information from her about the office. I called back to ask to speak with the attorney, the gentleman told me that he could not do that. He placed me on hold and left me on hold until I got a voicemail. I left a message telling them that they were rude and unprofessional for this to be a law office. I hung up and called Better Business Bureau/ Federal trade Commission to report them (877-382-4357).

The call was in reference to a debt which was owed on a vehicle in wich I was the co-signer, for my daughter.  The law office of Thomas Landis Esq contacted me on 7-14-09 and asked me about the loan.  The individuals that I talked to were:Ms.Greene, Bill Valentine and Mike Libermann. I was asked a questions about my financial status now, what I could pay, when I was going to pay off the debt of $11,000.00.  I expained my current status of being laidoff, and my current bills.  I was told today that unless I came up with $4000.00 by 7-16-09 and a $1000.00 by the end of the month the case would go to court.  I am trying to obtain the money from family but that is doubtful. I do have a job starting on or about 1 Aug 09 and have documentation to prove it but they person I talked to said I had to give them a post dated check of 7-16-09 for $4000.00 and they would clear my name.  If I cannot come up with the money they stated the paperwork had been completed and was ready and they would drop it tomorrow for the case to go to court in Jacksonville, Fla. At one point I was told by an individual he was through talking to me.  I have at this time received no documentation from Thomas and Landis or anyone else.

I called spoke to a pleasant lady and then she transferred me to a 100% thug who was smart enough to offer me toi just hang up... So i DID AND CALLED RIGHT BACK AND LET THE LADY KNOW SHE TRASNFERRED ME TO A THUG..

Got the call today,just like all the ohters above. Theyleft a message and said they were looking for my brother?? If there is a lawsuit pending I'd like to know. Our bills are paid and have never had any "charge offs".  I will not be calling them back and as for my brother, what brother???? Good investigators, must be a real class act. Had a call from this number.  Asked for George Mitchell and some other person.  Told him he has the wrong number.  Asked me if I were (_____) my name and I said yes.

This outfit called my friend last summer, and I acted as his attorney. I told this office to piss up a rope--the "debt" just bounced around to a few more agencies. Last month, he finally settled a so-called "debt" for 10k for a little over a thousand dollars just to get rid of the nuisance.

If you don't pay, this is likely what will happen to you. They seem to buy zombie debt and/or fraudulent debt and try to collect on it and will just re-sell the debt or farm off the collection effort to other agencies. At least, this was my experience, and it is my impression from reading scores of stories here that my experience was probably the norm for this place.

My MIL just got a call from them over a debt.  They threatened to file charges in such.  I called to see who they were..glad I goggled them.

We made a complaint with the Attorney generals office.

Very rude people..I was hung up on several times..

Just got a call telling me I had 2 charge accounts with $40,000 due. Tried to get me to give my last four of social. I wouldn't tell them. Guy was george Thorpe from Landis Law Office. Same address used as other blogs and 1800 853-4000. Wanted payment immediately! Wasn't even my last name.
Isn't this illegal?? Someone has to stop them!

I just got a call from them. Didn't answer.  But after reading this, I can't wait to they call back!!  I am going to have some fun with them!!! LMMFAO!!!

I just got a call from this bogus operation. They claimed to be calling for my ex-husband who hasn't used my number for 9 years. They are a ridiculous sham. I am sorry people get hooked by this sort of rookery.  The name he said he was calling on behalf of was atty Thomas Landis and asked me to have the call returned to 800-853-4000.

My father has been receiving calls from these guys for months (and they are still calling) claiming that he owns a bank a debt which was taken out around two-three years ago. I answered the phone for my father who was right next to me and doesn’t speak English that well. I stated that I have no idea about the debt they were talking about and they have the wrong person. However, they seem to have all of my father’s information and mine as well(I feel very violated) The person I spoke to was rude that I actually had to raise my voice(to which I never do and is hard to provoke me.)I asked them to send me all the information they had on this debt but when I said that the guy I spoke to started to cut me off on every word I said! I am soooo glad I found this website.

Look Attorney Tom Landis up on the net. They have been in trouble numerous times in the past for their debt collection practices. The person that called me from this number today made untrue claims and attempted to intimidate me into paying on an account that has been closed for thirteen years. I will be filing a complaint.
