His guy call regarding "legal matters",be careful

Linda McCoy left a message at my home number in FL. She was calling to talk to "blank". He is my brother, but we have never done business together for a very clear reason. We also have different last names. Obviously they are trying to contact him to collect a debt and were making a stab in the dark to do this. When I called to talk to her and explain that no one by that name lives here, she asked well did I know him. I replied that nobody by that name lives here. I tried to find out how she had my info for that person and she was abrupt and hung up. These people do not seem legit and aren't worth dealing with other than to relay that you are not who they are looking for.

Recieved 3 calls yesterday and 3 today. Very rude, Refused  to answer any more. I am sure  I will recieve    Crooks.

This office called me asking for an old roomate who I have not spoken to in many years.  They apparently tracked back ten years and found somehow that we shared an address back then and then found my current contact info.  I can't imagine if they called me who else they must be calling looking for this person.  Claimed it was a legal matter and they needed to get in touch with this person.  Started asking if I knew where they were, then asking questions regarding family members of the people they were looking for (what kind of business they are in, etc.).  After I asked questions, she claimed that they used me as a reference, but couldn't tell me what I was a reference for.  I called BS and gave no information.

A woman left a message on my home phone # (the number is NOT registered in my name) and said it was urgent that I contact her.  Her name was Michele Weinburg and she was with the law office of Tom Landis and to call her at 800-853-4000 ext. 113, she then said refer to a folder number.  We just received our current credit reports and no unpaid debts are listed, so obviously a scam!  This isn't the first time a "creditor" has called with a bogus debt.

I got a call from a lawyer Thomas Landis of Bensalem stating that he represented a company (pinnacle) who had bought a credit card account that we had paid off in 2003. Claimed if we didn't pay 1111.28 they would sue us for over 3000.00. After several months of threats we just caved in and sent the check
Fedex. They should get it by tomorrow at 10 am. I am retired and couldn't afford it.I just found a web site that people have email information that is almost identical to me. What can I do????

Im getting harrassment calls from Landis,  My mother co-signed on this loan,  who gets harrassing phone calls and my ex husband,  Ive tried to work with these people but the threats over whelm me.  My intentions were good and still are.I would like to settle but my income 10,000 last year really limited me,  Can my mother get in trouble?  What can I do???  I wrote them a letter and they stopped a lil bit.

You paida debt to a person over the phone without anything in writing?

NEVER EVER pay unless they send a VOD letter and can PROVE they own the debt. Otherwise tehy keep every penny and don't forward your monry to the company that owns the debt and you are even in deeper [***].

It never pays to pay a debt once it gets tojunk debt collectors. Your credit is already ruined and paying won't fix anything but dig you in deeper!

put a stop payment on your check than change your phone no. and get some legal help don't let these people get to you

I received a letter regarding a debt from nowhere. Mr Landis better be careful. Soon he will have his office behind bars.

Eric Johnson called from 1-800-853-4000 Ext. 124, said it was a laywer wanting to talk to someone who has not lived in our home for 10 years.  I do not answer these calls, I know they are frauds.  I have no debt and will not get into a situation where they have the opportunity get nasty.

I have a MagicJack - a little phone decive that plugs into my computer. For$19.95year you get unlimited calls to US and Canada. I've been living in Mexico for the past 15 years or so and that's a good deal  - if the thing works which it hasn't on outbound calls for the past 6 months  - Inbound it has a Caller ID assigned number in Washington DC where I have never lived.. Got a 'Landis" call tonight and for fun I'll call them back from my new outobund VOIP number in area 777.  I'll report back

called me and said I had an unresolved debt from 2007.... knew my name but when I asked for my birthdate and/ or SSN they gave me an incorrect info for both.  My husband hung up on them.  Scary!

I got this call but my answer machine wasn't on so do not know why they are calling me!!

Received a call from these number today, they asked for someone that I do not know.  I politely asked them where they were calling from and then they advised they were calling from an attorney's office.  When I told them they had the wrong number they rudely claimed that I should not have asked where they were calling from, as they were attorneys.  I hung up and they harrassed and called back a second time.  Told them to stop calling.

They keep calling my cell phone I don't know whe they are how they would get my cell phone number.

I got a cal from this attorney's office today from a Kath Cass that said she was a paralegal working for the office of Thomas Landis. I had no idea what this might be about so decided to look up Thomas Landis and see if this is a real attorney, especially since it came from Bensalem Pa (215-642-3400) and I live in Fla. I was given a number to call back 800-853-400 ext 181. Now that I see all these threads I have no intentions of calling them back. If this so called firm is a collection for creditors, I will just let them keep leaving me a voice mail. I have a great credit score so I know this must be bogus. If calls persist, I might answer...NOT! And will update this again. Thanks to all who have posted, this will keep me from having to talk to a bunch of [***].

I had a problem with this same company today, my husband is currently getting ready to be deployed! Needless to say they called for him but he isn't here, this man " Dan Wood". Told me that it was for a past due credit card bill and that it needed to be paid! He continued to tell me he knew my husband was on active duty and that he would be paid on the 15th of this month and that the balance needed to be paid in full on june 15th! I then asked him where he got all of his info and he told me it was common sense and that everyone knows when the government gets paid! I asked to speak to his manager for the way he was talking to me and his manager told me that if I could not pay the balance or give them some kind of payment they would pursue with a civil suit! He aso stated to me " miss I don't know what countryu your from but here in the us you can't run from ur debts we will find you"! To make a long story short I ended up setting up paymentarrangments with them gave them account info and two check numbers, after I asked if I could just pay with a debit card and he told me no, we hung up from the conversation and within not even 5 minutes the same guy called back " john Lombardi" and said that his manager wanted him to find out if I had a visa logo on my card, and that they wanted me to pay that way..needless to say I had to close my account and called the better business buro..don't give these people any ifo it is a scam..

i got a call from someone representing tom landis regarding a 10yr old loan from providian. they said i still owe them $1000 so i asked for the ss# because i thought maybe they looking for my son but they had my correct #  i never took out a loan no where close to that from providian ever. so i told them they trying to rip ppl off and i wasnt paying them nothing he got loud and started yelling u need to pay your debt i just hung up the phone. now im reading all this and blown away that this can happen to so many ppl. these ppl need to be held accountable!!! why do they get to do this??? can they be stopped???

Man called my home and my grand daughter answered, he asked for me and when she said I wasn't home, he asked for information about my neighbor and said my neighbor's name.  She said even if she did know that person she would never give out that info. he laughed at her and said "Haha you wouldn't give me that info?"  She said no and hung up.  Hasn't called back yet, definitely suspiscous and scam material!!!

My husband received a call from 215-642-6390.   They said to call back right away as this was a "time sensitive" matter.   When my husband called back, an extremely rude, low class person who identified herself as "Bess Nixon" answered.  She said she was calling about an American Express credit card debt that "he" allegedly owed.  He said he didn't have an American Express card and she called him a Liar!   She asked him more questions and every time he insisted he was not the person they were looking for (coincidentally with the same name), she said that he was a "liar". My husband finally got the point that this was useless.  HOW DO THESE PEOPLE STAY IN BUSINESS AND WHY ISN'T THIS ATTORNEY LANDIS DISBARRED FOR UNETHICAL PRACTICES!   I wouldn't be surprised if they scared some people into sending them money.   Who can they be reported to?
