    ticked off mother
My husband and I too have been receiving phone calls several times every day @ 2 different phone numbers.  When we tried to call back they would hang up, then call back later and leave very harrassing messages.  We finally spoke w some moron there who wanted my checking info and such.  I stated I would need to consult my husband first and we would call back in 1 hour. We called back 1 1/2 hours later and both of our phones had very rude and obseen messages from this guy that we said we'd call in 1 hour. Then he tried telling my husband that I agreed to pay and "demanded" he be given checking info, he also added that the call was recorded-which was NEVER stated during any of the phone calls made-but when we asked to have him play the recording back to him he refused.  Something is up and it STINKS I hope someone can get to the bottom of things-this is just plain SCARY.

Called me at work stating he had good news.  Mr. Meo.  When I spoke with him I realized this was not a valid debt and told him not to call me at work.  He has continuously called me and my work number.  I faxed a cease and desist letter to him today and told my employer to hang up if he called.  Told me he would "take my paycheck" even though the debt is not mine and I live in a state where wage garnishment is not allowed.  I would hope a "real" attorney would realize that.

There is something wrong here please be very, very careful what you say to these people.

I returned a call left on my answering machine at home stating that it was a call for my daughter about an important legal matter.  They had not been able to contact her via the primary phone number and mine was the secondary.

Tony Starks with the law office of Tom Landis.

    800-853-4000 ext. 108

This man was just down right RUDE!

I gave them my daughter's cell phone number.  (And I'm sorry I did...)

When she called me she was very upset as the man was very rude to her also.  He told my daughter that she is responsible for several thousand dollars worth of charges on a credit card that was closed with a 0 balance over 3 years ago.

She wanted to send them a letter of dispute but couldn't get an address from them when she called.  She asked me to see if I could get it then mail the letter of dispute for her.

I kept it real simple.  "Please give me the mailing address for the law office."  They refused to give me the law office mailing address!

The 215 # on the caller ID states Pennsylvannia.

The first attempt at net surfing with a phone number came up a dead end.

Then I found this!  Thank you all for this site!!!

I went through 5, yes five people until I could finally get someone to confirm the address that is listed on the messages here.

    Finally, they confirmed this address:

    Thomas Landis Esq
Four Greenwood Square + Suite 220
    3325 Street Road
    Bensalem, Pa 19020
    (215)642-3400
    Fax (215) 642-3401
    Toll Free (800) 853-4000

    Use extreme caution!

They have a knack for finding unlisted numbers. They call my home# which I have never given out to any business etc.... You want to see something funny? I was googling "Thomas Landis Office" and accidentally hit "image search". His office is in a thrift store that he also runs!! Talk about a shade tree operation!! Oh, and he has/ is being sued about his illegal collection practices, according to the justicia docket website.

I have been receiving these calls for the past 2 months but they are all recordings saying "this is not a sales call please have Daniel Holley call 800-853-4000 immediately".  Funny thing is there is no Daniel Holley at my house I tried to answer the phone once but it is just a recording machine.  I was going to call them today to talk with them, but glad that I found this site here first, obviously they are big time scam company.

I also received one of these calls this morning.  A man who said he was looking for my Fiance was also rude when I told him that we had already retained a lawyer that coincidently we had just been searching for last week.
He said his name was Levi Bradley and TOLD me that I was very wrong about why he was wanting to talk to my fiance. He demanded me to take his info to have him contact him.  Well that's when I barked back saying "Alright give it to me!".  The caller ID showed 1-215-642-3400, Atty T Landis. The # he gave me was 800-853-4000 ext. 191. After finding your website I called back, when transferred I got a recording and no way to leave a message. when I called back again, the same woman's voice told me that Mr. Bradley would not be in until noon. When I told her "How could that be? I just got off the phone with him, SHE HUNGUP on me. haha i already added both of the #'s to http://www.donotcall.gov and I am going to report them to the all of the news places I can find. I believe that this would be a great story for ABC,CBS, and NBC with the current situation our country is in. In fact, I just decided to send a copy of this comment along with these websites for their own investigation to the White House. https://whocallsme.com and the other one of https://800notes.com.  Take That Attorney Tom Landis!!

Rec'd a call from these scum bag, low life, 2-bit collectors who try and pass themselves off as attys. THEY ARE NOT ATTYS; they are bottom feeder collectors. They were calling on a debt that is 10+ years old for my mother. Told them my mother is 82 years old, in the hospital with a broken hip and probably would not be coming out. Dumb a-- collectors said I needed to pay it. Told him I wasn't paying and statute of limitations has long since passed. He tried to argue with me re: the statute of limitations and told him he doesn't know his law any better than fair debt collection practices. I am sure he is a child porn king just like his bosses. DON"T PAY THESE IDIOTS A PENNY; they can't do anything about the debt they are collecting on.

Hey, guys, when receiving harassing calls or letters from a creditor --- even if you owe a legit debt --- always keep this in mind:  If it's been more than a year since you've made any payment on that debt, you need to know these CRITICAL things:
    (1) your credit is already screwed for at least the next year or two; making a small payment won't help one iota.
    (2) if it's been a long time between payments, note that most collectors have to adhere to a statute of limitations regarding collection --- each state has its own ---, and if you so much as send $5, that clock starts ticking ALL OVER AGAIN.  Expect to get a barrage of such mailings and calls in the weeks before the collection period finally runs out, in a last-ditch effort to bleed blood from a turnip.  At some point, they'll just have to write you off as an uncollectible bad debt, for which they enjoy tax relief.
    (3) if it's been that long between payments for a legit debt, chances are you need that money a lot more than you need some sleazeball collector's good graces.  Hang onto your money, and let THEM spend theirs trying to get it from you.  If they reach you by phone yet again, ask "Do you really HAVE to do this for a living?".  If they harass you about being behind on your bills, tell them "So is AIG".
    (4) If you must, change your mailing address and forward all mail to a private (not post office) mail box, like in a strip-mall mail center.  Whatever inconvenience you suffer going there to pickup your mail will come back to you in peace of mind of being free from harassment.
    (5) If need be, change your phone number to a cellphone that only your friends and important contacts can reach.  When completing order forms, use ONLY your e-mail address for contact.  Play the same anonymity game the sleazy collectors do.

About legitimate debts owed, keep this fact in mind:  If you agree to settle a smaller amount of the debt to close the account and write it off, be aware:

    --- The debt collector's idea of your current balance might include large amounts of arbitrary fees and penalties, sharply inflating the actual amount you charged or legitimately owe;
--- The payoff amount on a settlement is one thing; but note the so-called "forgiven" amount...that will be reported to the IRS as TAXABLE INCOME, which, depending upon your tax situation, may bump you into a higher bracket, making ALL of your income that year subject to higher taxes, including salaries, tips, 401-k withdrawals, debt settlements, etc.
--- Before paying a settled amount, ask yourself which is more important to you:  Whatever improvement that payoff will do to your credit rating (which may already be ruined for years)?  Or what that money, if you kept it, might do for your well-being and getting back on track financially?
--- Do you REALLY need a better credit rating for the next couple of years?  Are you going to make any major credit purchases, like a car, house, or apply for new credit cards, or apply for a job with an employer for whom a credit check is mandatory (43% do check, and may disqualify you if your other qualifications don't outweigh a bad credit score)?
--- Above all, do NOT ever, ever, ever pay anyone who claims to be able to "fix" your credit.  The only way to fix your credit legitimately is to start paying new bills on time.

We keep receiving phone calls at our number, which is not to receive solicitation, for our 4 year old son to return their call.  It is an automated recording on our voice mail stating it is not a telemarketing call, but it is urgent that (our son), call them back at the given number.  They do not state who they are, but it shows up on our caller ID.  Thank you for this internet info!!!  I checked online before returning any calls.  I definitely will not do them the pleasure of any returned calls!

I recieved a phone call looking for a couple that I knew, while I was at work. I asked the lady what it was in regards to and she refused to tell me so I refused information. She threatened me for keeping evidence from a case. I understand they may be angry, but they need to understand that when we say do not call back, that is exactly what that means. Get their phone numbers, not others work numbers!

This type of slime gets off on bullying people...they are uneducated, miserable people with a serious complex, my suggestion, screw with their tiny little minds...if you speak a different language, speak it!  Or start speaking gibberish, repeat everything they say, ASK THEM TO PROVE YOU OWE THE MONIES WITH THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT (can't be done) etc.!!!  Don't let them get to you, and show them they can't get to you, this in turn, will annoy them.

Got a call today, I am sure this junk debt buyer bought a junk debt in my name from Cavalry Portfolio Svcs.  Cavalry claimed I had a debt for a bank that has not existed in 10 years, so even if the debt was legit (it is not, I have over a 700 credit score and no bad debt on record)the statute of limitations would have run out.

File a complaint with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
As well as your state attorney general's office.  DO NOT answer the phone if you see them on caller ID.

As previously mentioned, NEVER pay ANYTHING without looking at your credit report and seeing if you even have a legitimate debt. If it is legitimate, call your original creditor.  Trust me, once it gets to these guys, you are better off not paying it if it is legit, since they only buy very old debt and in 7 years from the date the ORIGINAL debt was written off it falls off your report anyway.
As the last poster said ONCE YOU START PAYING THESE PEOPLE, THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS  STARTS OVER AGAIN ON YOUR DEBT.  So if it's not on your credit report and you pay it, BAM...you now have a collection RE-AGED on your credit report.

Bottom line: Pull your credit report yearly, take care of current debt, and ignore these [***] when they call.

    Enough is Enough
automated message stating to call them back. no answer. suspect junk debt buyer/collector. 1) NEVER DISCUSS on PHONE! THEY WILL DISTORT WHAT YOU TALKED ABOUT 2) NEVER EVER GIVE THEM ANY BANK INFO, CREDIT CARD, SOCIAL, DOB ETC... OVER THE PHONE 3) MAKE THEM PROVE THE DEBT IS LEGITIMATE AND THE DATE DEBT WAS INCURRED. THEY MUST PROVIDE DETAILS!!!! ACCOUNT NUMBER, AMOUNT, WHAT was PURCHASED. THEY MUST PROVE THE ORIGINAL DEBT! Many of these guys buy very old debts and use intimidation tactics to get paid. They may even keep the entire amount collected to themselves. 4) MOST IMPORTANTLY! REQUEST EVERYTHING IN WRITING and VIA CERTIFIED MAIL. (too many things get lost in the mail). If it is a LEGITIMATE debt they should have no problem providing you proof. If they refuse, make sure you get a name (it may be bogus) business name and address and the owner of the business and their tax ID number. Again, if they refuse they must have something to hide.  HOW easy do you think it would be to call anyone out of the phone book and claim to be a deb collector, if they did not have to provide proof???

Returned a call to these people.  Even had to remind them to be polite when talking to me.  They tried to collect a "debt" that my late father did NOT have from 22 years ago, saying it "probably was a minor balance that compounded and compounded" all these years.  My dad never kept a cc balance, BTW.  They even wanted me to send them a copy of his death certificate. Wouldn't give me a 'balance,' just wanted to "settle." It was all I could do to keep from laughing. If they call again, I will string them along to record them and post it for everyone's amusement.  What a HOOT!

Got a recorded call on my personal cell today asking for my ex-husband by name.  The recording stated that it was not a telemarketing call & was very important that he (my ex) please return the call immediately.  I am still friends w/ my ex so I researched the number... (215)642-3400.  I found the previous reports & decided to add to them.  I won't be forwarding the information to my ex-husband.
