    hello
THe purpose of AVIAWEST is to get you join the membership. The membership is so expenses. You will never buy it if in normal situation. But after listening what they say which will make you feel it is so benefit to you, which is a way of marketing. If they can attract people to join the membership, they don't need to spent so much many to ask you to listen their presentation. THe key is letting you to believe the benefit.
I guess they have several property, but they can sell one property to thousand people, which means you will pay way high price to buy a little share of one property. Normally, we don't invest such business. Second, if you do have time, money to go the trips more than 3 times more than 5 weeks, I think it will be good deal, otherwise, it is not worthy.

Just came back from that Aviawest appointment.

I was told on the phone that we'll receive a key to try open their car box and win the Lexus, plus, we'll be able to receive 2 of their 6 gifts which include: $100 dinner cert., 2 for 1 cruise, 50" plasma tv, camcorder, a couple night stay at their resort, & 2 nights Vegas stay (see: http://www.aviawest.com/lexus/) if we attend a 90 minute one on one appointment for their promotion.

Their sales offices is in Burnaby, we went there, a sales rep who just started her new job 3 days ago greeted us and basically she was just clicking her computer screen and showed us this so-called ownership package: Pay a certain amount of money and for that several years you paid you basically get 60000 points to use it at their resort in any location over the world.  They said you own that resort room/appartment but this doesn't make sense to me. Think of it this way, you invest in the company, if you own it, you should receive some share of profit the company is making, but what you are getting are free stay in their resort, no cash value.  You pay $20 for All-you-can-eat sushi, does that mean you own the japanese restaurant? No!

The sales rep didn't really know how to sell so she finished her talk in less than an hour and then there were silent moments coz her 90 minute time is not over yet and she doesn't know what more to say. So I just asked if we need to sit and wait for another half an hour until we finished the 90 minute appointment.  She said no and she said we could go to the front desk and get our prize.  We went to the reception, and in stead of scratch two out of six boxes to win the prize, I was told that the buy-1-get-1-free cruise is a fixed gift, and the scratch card has 25 boxes, you can only scratch six boxes to see how many keys you get in those boxes.  If you get six keys in all six boxes you scratched you can then win the 50" plasma TV.  That's not even 1/6 chance of winning a TV.  We said they misled us and wasted our time to come for what we thought a good chance to win nice price thing. The manager rolled his eyes and gave me response like "you ARE getting two gifts anyway, aren't you?", "Go ahead to tell people online what happened", "You can scratch and get your two price or you are more than welcome to leave if you don't like".  Totally unprofessional attitude towards confused and frustrated customer like us.  Well, true that we kinda expected before we went but if their response is more polite we would have no problem.  Kinda hard to imagine an international resort promoting best class services would give us such kind of services: a sales rep who doesn't know how to sell and a sales manager who told us to scratch or leave when we were confused.

At last we decided not to have our trip wasted on no point argument, so we scratched.  Got two keys in 6 boxes and so we got $200 dinner gift cert. from them. The Cruise one we won't use it so at least we have one prize useful,  Better than none.

Go if you want $100 dinner cert. & a B1G1F cruise, otherwise don't expect too much from them.  The so-called ownership program?  If you use the same amount of money to invest in some good stocks, I am sure you can get more money value than what their program offers, even better coz you get $$$ in return whereas this program only offers accomodation points, you use it if you travel, if you don't use it, you have nothing.

I recieved a call too, they said they are from nanaimo. They gave me a very detailed description of what your going to win. They say you are guaranteed to win 2 of 6 prizes they have(vacation las vegas, 2 for 1 caribbean, 100 dollars coupon, Tv, cam corder ets.)They will book an appointment for you. On the day of tour appointmeny they will discuss the background of the company...they say they own century 21, travelocity and so on...that they are abig company..they say they are not like timeshare..but they will sell you vacation ownership. You need to purcahse 5,000 to 20,000 dollars worth of vacation ownership with 300dollars monthy payment. They will tell you you would be able to stay in suite or a 5 star hotel or no.1 hotel in the world with kitchen, 3  bedroom, beautiful view, and live like a true millionaire with your penthouse suite for a week for only 250 dollars only if you purcahse 5,000 to 25,000 worth of vaction ownership. So, dont agree with it cuz ithink its [***]...they'll push you to buy but eventhough you didnt accept the offer you still get gifts such as tv, camcorder of trip to vegas but I think theres only few of those they can give, most people like 90% only get like 100 dollars coupon or caribbean cruise package whick is like buy 1 take one free, still you have to pay half of it. So after the 90 minute talk, just walk away lol and get the free gifts dont buy any of their vacation ownership. gifts are true but they are pushy, rude and annoying.

I just got one of these calls.  I'm always skeptical because I once made a mistake and fell for something like this.  I won a vacation in Florida and all I needed to do was make a $75 payment and the $5000 valued prize was mine.  I was stupid enough to fall for it.  Now I'm very wary.

The beginning of the call made it sound as if I had won a Lexus so I was racking my brain trying to figure out where I might have filled out a draw card but as I do such things from time to time then it could have been anywhere.  I was offered a key to try at a location where there was a 90 minute presentation but I declined saying I just didn't trust the offer.

When they call, just say "Take Me Off Your List" and hang up.  They will continue to call over and over for years and years as you are in a database and unless you state "Take Me Off Your List" they will continue to harass you. You may have filled out a form many years ago and your name will continue to stay in their database until it is removed.  If you say you are not interested, they will enter this into your database and call again in a year or two time.  It's frustrating as hell getting these calls but the best way to deal with this is to answer and state the above....they have to remove your name from their database.....

    waste of time
We went to this and they go through the presentation.  Cost for 50,000 points was about $26,000. No extra incentives or discounts to stay in their own properties even if you are a part "owner".  The sales rep said just book our properties through RCI.
    High pressure...
"If you don't buy today the price will increase by $5000 the next time you come in."
"There's nothing to think about, it's either yes or no."
"You don't need to do any research, just buy now. How much research do you do on your travel agents."
"You're obviously not spending that amount of money of vacations if your not willing to purchase from us, that'll clearly save you money."
When we said no the sales rep threw the paper with the price quotes across the table and told us to go to reception for our gifts.  He walked out, no hand shake, no thank you for your time.  Very unprofessional.

Now I see someone selling 50,000 points on craigslist for $4500.  Which the sales guy said never happens because the company always is the first to buy them back so none go on the second hand market.

YES a real company just REAL HARD SELL. we went to Parksville site last week. Had been 7/8 years ago. At opening My Wife said she did not like Hard sell last time, we were assured it was different now,  Well the rooms are updated, there is now a point system for Vacaction exchange, and the SELL IS EVEN HARDER.  The offer to us was about $18,600 for 40,000 points plus $ for magazine etc., and they would finance.  Rate was about 13%. When I said I was not interested and usually paid cash: some guy came from back room and dropped price for cash to $ 15,900. SO financeing is more like 26% Also I did not need to get magazine etc.  I understand Annual fees go up. If you look at annual fee and booking fee I do not see much savings, Make sure you know what you want before you go, and check examples. The ones given to us were inflated as taken from net but no recognition of deals that people are really offering.
They are pushing NOW Sales and get beligerant after you do not buy.
We did get the $100.00 Which we will use and the 2 for 1 cruise  < Won't use.

We have just attended one of these 90 minute presentations by Aviawest. There office is on 201-3779 Henning Drive, Burnaby. They are a timeshare/vacationshare company, affiliated with RCI. Our intention from the beginning was to listen to the whole thing and take the prize.  So we did... The sales rep was very pleasant and we laughed all the way, had a good time. At the end her question was: so how do we handle the deposit?  I said: we won't handle it, we sleep on it!  Of course she was surprised, started blushing, the sales manager came, tried to convince, bla bla bla. We stuck to our position and got out with a $100 dollar gift certificate and a 2 for 1 cruise offer.
When I got home, I went on the internet, googled RCI, looked at their resorts - not worth it.  I also googled: "RCI complaints" and oh my....

If I could teach anything to people, I would teach the following:
1 -  always sleep on ANY purchase that is worth $50 or more.  Do you really need it?
2 -  before you do any business with a company, or buying anything big, have a complaint search about the company or the product.  You learn a lot from other people's mistake.

I received a call on my cell phone from this number saying that i am in the final draw for a 2009 Lexus. they asked me if i am still employed under my old job's company. i quit that job over a year ago. they knew my address and postal code. I told them i don't even remember filling out a form for the draw? they didn't explain anything, and just told me i will receive a call if i win the Lexus. sounds fishy to me. nothing is free in life, i will believe it when i receive the keys and drive away.

I entered a contest at the home and garden show to win a car.  I NEVER enter these contests, and never will again.  This is where they are from.  Everyone is a final contestant for the draw.  For over a year they have been calling me.
