Rich called several times to let us know we won a chance to be winners of a Lexus car draw.   All we need to do is drive to Victoria, show up for an appointment, play a Deal or No deal game with six suitcases and one of them could hold the key, you guessed it, for the Lexus.  Whoppeee!  Nothing was said about a 90min BS session on timeshares.  We got taken it by this years ago when they were called Pacific Shores in Parksville.  It wasn't worth the hassle then and it certainly isn't now!!!  Don't waste your time.  Nice enough people but pushy.

Hey guys, I was getting constant phone calls by these people too, but I talked to a woman there about the promotion/contest and my husband and I decided to give it a try...why not?  Free stuff for 90 minutes?  The sales people were somewhat pushy, but we stuck to our guns and didn't purchase, but we did walk away with a 2 for 1 stay with them, and a 7 night stay in Hawaii !!!!! Aloha peeps!

Just received a call from 800-728-1695 x 8314 about a Lexus.  I have been reading the blog with interest trying to figure out the deal.  I know quit a bit about Aviawest and they are a worldwide timeshare resort company.  Friends of mine own condos in Whistler from them, and they have headquarters downtown Vancouver, etc.  I am an owner in RCI timeshare, so know the inside story quite well.  Having been an owner for 20+ years and no scam - just good deals.  However, the call is a different matter.  I do not fill in forms at gas stations but asked my daughter if she had filled in one for me - which she denied, so this call is out of the blue.  With all the identity thefts out there, it is good to be cautious, so I think I will be walking away from this one.  To bad on the Lexus though....

Got the same call in Abbotsford.  Same thing... "you are a finalist to win a Lexus...."  Glad I read the site.  I can't remember entering the draw and no one I know would fill one in for me.  If I've won something I shouldn't have to pay anything or jump through any hoops.  You've either won or you haven't!

I received a call on April 28/09 at about 1000am regarding being a finalist to win a lexis. Some girl named Cheryl called. The caller id number that came up on my phone was 250-716-2650 and the lady that called me told me to call 1800-728-1695 ext. 8309 where some man named "George"'s voicemail comes up. I do not recall entering any draw, as most of them have some hidden agenda...and I do smell HIDDEN agenda in this phone call, after reading all these emails. This is so annoying...I don't care to have a lexus if it means being harrassed by some inconsiderate fool! They will get a piece of my mind if they EVER call back again!

I too received a call that I was a finalist in a draw for a Lexus.  Aviawest is not a scam but it is a vacation resort/timeshare points program they try to sell you for big big bucks.  They called me 7 years after I entered...confirmed by the address that was on my entry form.  If you're interested in free gift certificates for various locations on the island/mainland and are willing to give up a few hours of your time, then go listen to what they have to say.  The meeting wasn't high pressure but as soon as they realize your not interested they send you out the door.

I received a phone call too, they said that I had not won the Lexus but will be entered into next years early bird draw for the select few. They also said that I had won the gifts with the choice of two 100 dollar gifts certificate, 2 nights stay in Las Vegas, 7 nights in Hawaii. The guy on the phone asked me about all the info that I had filled out on the entry form confirming that it was correct (Dairy Queen 6500 Hastings BBY BC).  I was advised that I should book an appointment as soon as possible as they fill up fast. Glad I found this blog thanks for your input sounds like a waste of time even for me to go and listen to a 90 mins talk just to get these gifts.

I got the call today.  Aviawest seems to sell timeshare interests for several properties and the company looks legit - see http://www.aviawest.com/

They obviously need to drum up interest for their product thus the 90 minute presentations.  I was told if I show up at the presentation, I am guaranteed 2 of 5 prizes which echoes a lot of what has been posted above.

I may or may not go - have zero interest in timeshares.  Have to decide if the 90 minutes of my time and annoying (and potentially rude) sales push is worth the two gifts, likely to be the $50 gift certificate and the 8GB ITouch, although they also offer an Aviawest 2 night stay, 3 days in Vegas, or 7 days in Hawaii.  Probability of walking with those prizes, or the Lexus, is likely very low.

Anyway - I think it's legit, just annoying for the 99% of us who do not wish to go into a timeshare.

I had calls from this number both last and this week to which I requested that I be placed on their "Do Not Call List". Also, I have some knowledge of the timeshare industry and know that it doesn't suit my lifestyle.

If calls like these continue and/or you are receiving calls from other organizations attempting to market their products to you, all you have to do is ask to be placed on their "Do Not Call List".

    Check it out: http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/DNCL/brochure_consumer.htm.

Also, if you're considering a timeshare purchase you should compare Aviawest prices to that of resales. Have a look at Craigslist or UsedVictoria and see the difference in price between Aviawest and resellers. These products are not liquid! You can't even give them away. What happens then when you buy the product and a few years later you no longer believe that it suits your lifestyle? Good luck offloading it. Remember, if you don't use it, you still have to pay maintenance fees and membership dues.

They called and asked for my son and got me. They said I won a Lexus and wanted more information. How did they get my number? Somehow they knew marital status, career information, and where I lived. I did not submit this info to anyone. We looked it up and it seems to belong to SunWest Vacations or real estate scam thing. Not sure who this is or why they are calling but it's not welcome!

And the calls keep on coming!  I am on the DNC list and still got called by Avia West, telephone 250-716-2650.  If they call me again, I'll be sure to give them a 'piece of my mind' and demand that they put me on their DNC list.  After that . . . the gloves are off!  I am so fed up with these kinds of harrassing calls . . . usually if there's no one immediately on the phone when it rings, I hang up.  After all, if they really 'know' me, they'll call back.

Called Sept 28/09. Caller said you entered a free draw for a car. We are updating your information. I asked "when did I enter this draw, to which the caller said "Oh it may have been a few years ago, we are having another draw and as a courtesy we are taking all those who did not win and entering them in this draw.
She then asked is your address a house or an apartment. I replied "remove my name from your list".

How is giving out your mailing address personal information? There not going to come to your house. I had no idea verifying an address if someone else has your correct address is giving up sacred information. Your an idiot.
