I called there and yes the number belongs to them. I asked the "supervisor" how did you get my number as it is unlisted. She started with this long speil about the company , I cut her off and said I didn't call to hear about your company I want to know where you got my number, she again started to rattle off about the company, I told her once again to take my number off her list and that I was reporting her and then I slammed the phone on her ear .

got a call in Canmore at 5pm - no answer when i said hello but it sounded like a woman sighing or crying at the other end for a couple of seconds then nothing. strange!

I received this call today.  Did not answer.  No message left.

got call from this number too, no one there...unable to look it up in 411.

Just got the phone call, but it was a hangup as soon as I answered.

I also received a call from this number.  Left no message.  Called back, got a busy signal.

I keep getting calls from this number too!  I live in Victoria, BC.  I haven't answered yet, but after reading this I'm going to answer and give the person on the other end an ear-full.

they called our house tonight 3 times in 2 hours, no messages left.  I tried to call the number back but there was no answer.

416-233-0047 called last evening (November 24, 2009) around 6:15 p.m. - used my first name. It was disturbing. They didn't identify who they were, why there were calling or how to get back in touch with them. Used *69 to get the number - we don't have caller ID (the charge will appear on my phone bill). 1st call back - line busy, next 2 call backs no answer! We're on the national "do not call list" - guess this company/person doesn't subscribe to it!

I have worked for RBC and know that they only use 800 numbers when calling people. Don't believe them if they say it's RBC, just report it to your local branch or go on their website and you'll find an 800 number for fraud marketing calls.

I got this call too but didn't pick it up. If they call again I'm going to answer and tell them I am reporting them.

They invade our privacy - they are smug, non-compliant with the laws, try to hide their tracks and waste our time.

I recieved a call today. He asked for my son by his first name only. I stated that he was not home and asked if I could take a message, he said no but would call back. I asked again if he would leave a message and he refused. I told him not to bother calling back. My son happens to have a RBC account!! We are in Nova Scotia.

i got a call on my cell phone from the number 233-272-916707  i know it dosnt look like a normal number its too long so when i try to look it up to see whos number it is it gives me nothing because its too long

This IS a legitimate number from a Market Research company.  If you do not want to be contacted by them in the future, you need to ANSWER THE PHONE and ask them nicely to add you to their internal Do Not Call list.  You can't blame them for doing their job (aka repeatedly trying to give you an opportunity to have your voice heard). Be kind to market researchers - they're not trying to harass you, but they do want to give you an opportunity to have your say.

One more thing about the National Do Not Call list: there are EXEMPTIONS.

"The exemptions include calls made by, or on behalf of:
- Canadian registered charities;
- Political parties, riding associations and candidates;
- Newspapers of general circulation for the purpose of soliciting subscritions;
- Organizations with whom you have an existing business relationship;
- A company that you have provided express consent to be called; and
- Organizations conducting market research, surveys, or public opinion polls."
