I got the same call, the young girl asked for my husband.  I told her that he was not home and she hung up!!

Then, the next day they called again.  I asked what it was about and they said they wanted to only speak to my husband about our finances... I told that finances in my household involves me too and I my number is privately listed, so therefore you need to id yourself or remove me from you call list.  She said it was customer service.

I told them I don't want solliciting calls and remove me from your list.

Getting calls from 416 233 0047 daily,  do not know why because there is never anyone to take the call from their end.  I called Market Probe Canada  416 487 4144 and spoke with Tim McCutcheon, VP & Privacy Officer,  X 229

They can put your phone number(s) in their own internal do-not-call list,  and scrub their clients' lists to remove your number(s) by the day's end for an indefinite period of time.

I got this call and they asked for my boyfriend. When i said "no he's not here, who is calling" the man on the phone only said "Chris". I was put off and said "sorry who?" He again just said "Chris". I then asked "Chris from where? What company are you calling from?" And he he just said "oh" and hung up on me.

This is the guy who supervises the rude telemarketers who call your homes without your permission and refuse to leave a message.

It looks like he's now being referred to as the Privacy Officer.

From the National Do Not Call List

    ("Who Can Still Call You")

    https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/cofi-fico-eng

    QUESTION:

"What about calls from market research or polling firms?"

    ANSWER:

"Calls from organizations conducting market research, surveys, or public opinion polls are also exempt from the National Do Not Call List Rules and are not required to keep an internal do not call list."

"These types of calls are not telemarketing calls because the caller is not asking you to purchase, lease or rent products or services."

It should actually be called the "Do Not Hesitate To Call Sucker's List".

I don't trust the government to ever do what's best for normal citizens and so I refused to register.

I keep receiving calls from this number (several in the last couple of days, today alone was at 5:21pm, 6:28pm and 8:11pm), a female requested to speak to my husband, asking for him by using his full name and didn't wish to leave a message when I told her he was not home - our phone is an unlisted number...as I suspected and from the other posts I've read, it appears to be a market survey and they likely just call a random number.  I have blocked that number, so they shouldn't be bothering us anymore.

On second thought, it is the RBC who gave out my name and phone number, so it would make sense to send the complaint to RBC first. If the number of people sending the complaint is big enough then they may stop giving out the list or force Market Probe Canada to change the way they conduct their survey. Below is the link to RBC customer complaint.

About one call a day for the past week, including Saturday!!  If I answer no one responds and if I don't answer no message is left.  Annoying!  As an ex-RBC employee I do know that telephone surveys are conducted in the interest of customer service feedback but be aware those calls are ALWAYS prompted by a previous and somewhat recent visit and/or interaction with RBC staff.  During the telephone survey you will NEVER be asked to divulge any information other than your experience during your branch visit.  T

If you don't want to receive calls from RBC simply discuss your wishes with them and they will adjust your profile to reflect your desires.

Just got a phone call from 416-233-0047. The guy on the line could hardly speak English. In between his mumbles I understood RBC and survey. Smelt a rat told him no I was not interested and did not like survey phone calls. I then googled the phone number and came up with this site. Now I know it was a scam.

My RBC Account Manager told me that I would be receiving a call from the survey company mentioned and sure enough the number that appeared on the phone matches the other post's comments.
