- GuestI just got a call from this number - didn't answer but they left a message. They were calling from Scotiabank, said they recently sent me a new Scotia Visa chip card (which they had) and that I still needed to activate it (which I did).
The call to my number was legit.- Caller: Scotiabank

- MeMiIt is Scotiabank Line of credit department.
- JackWhy would Scotia Bank call me when I don't even have a bank account with them?
- Brad JohnsonI talked to these people today. It is an identity theft scam. They tell you they want to discuss some of the products you have with them but first they need to verify your personal information. I don't have any products with Scotia Bank so I told her to get lost. She became rude and argued with me about whether I have any products with Scotia. I told her I am not even in the same province as she claims I am. She could not tell me my full name or what specific products I have with her. When I asked to speak to a bank supervisor she abruptly hung up. Don't be fooled by these criminals

- miraThe number is a legitimate ScotiaBank phone number. However scammers using caller id spoofing make your caller id show the ScotiaBank phone number. It is publicly available on the banks website, so scammers use their number.
Do NOT give anyone calling you any information about accounts, credit cards or debit cards. The bank will never call you asking you to verify your information.
Check with your local branch first. - martyI work for Scotia and got a call today at work from this number - idiots. No one there - cuz of course, I answered 'good morning Scotiabank'. In reading the comments on this site, I am so glad to see so many people suspicious when they get these calls - good for you! If you don't know who you're talking to, don't tell them anything. Don't ever feel pressured even if they threaten to cut off your Visa limit or freeze your bank account (a scammers scare tactic). No matter what bank or credit union you deal with, if you're concerned, call your local branch or go on their website and get the call centre phone number - it's available 24/7. Protect yourself - there are a lot of scammers out there.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- Marinait is actually a very useful number for people who have account with Scotiabank. it` s a security department. I was transferring some money via Western Union on their website. SO, they called me back to make sure that i did this transaction .YOu really can trust SCOTIABANK))))))
- JohnThis is a legit Scotia number. I got an automated call saying there was suspected fraud on my account, immediately logged in to my account and saw an ATM withdrawal which wasn't mine. Now I have to wait up to 10 days to see if I get my money back..
- Caller: Scotiabank
- SallyGot a call to talk about a Visa application. They screwed up and approved me and then denied me so they called to explain why. I didn't care at that point so I just told the lady to not worry about it and that I've made arrangements with another financial institution who took my business.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- RedzJust had a phone call from this number and I know 100% it was not a scam they left a message saying my credit card had been comprimised. I phoned in the number on the scotiabank site because the office was closed until Monday morning for the number on the back of the card. They informed me my card had been comprimised and duplicated. They have blocked the card and are issuing a new one.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- Lynn from LondonI just got the same call from Scotia Bank. They are still at it. We used to have a scotia visa so it was very confusing.
- MichaelI have just spoken to the scotiabank customer service dept. And this number is legitimate. Scotia will fix this automated voice message and likely direct it the contact center to then pass to security. Call your scotiabank cust service number in back of your card to verify it. I was told transaction looked fraudulous because i bought hotel accomodations on hotwire canada and they pass the transaction through a france server and raises immediate alarms.
- Caller: Scotiabank security and fraud dept
- les replies to MichelleIt's actually serious, it means your card has been compromised in some way and it has been put on hold. If you call the Scotia Bank they will tell you. I thought it was a scam as well....but it means there has been an attempt to get into your account.
- llcoolwilThis number called my phone.
It was ScotiaBank calling to give me a phone interview for their call centre. I just applied.
Seems like it really is a Scotiabank number!- Caller: Scotiabank
- EllieThis number called me to make sure that I was the one who sent a Western union transfer online through my account. So, I think it's a good thing that they check with their customers. :)
- Caller: Scotibank
- CMBFraud on my scotia visa
- Caller: Scotiabank
- jess| 1 replyIt was a robot voice message from Scotiabank (who are indeed my bank) telling me that there's been suspicious activity on my card so they've imposed restrictions on its use, and I should go to any branch and change my PIN.
I don't think it's a scam or they wouldn't leave messages like this where there's zero chance of them getting any info or money off me. I think it's a legitimate Scotiabank number they use for a variety of automated purposes that occasionally misfire due to bad organization. :)
Needless to say, one should never give out personal financial info over the phone regardless of who it is.- Caller: Scotiabank
