I was called by ScotiaBank on this number - I see there are comments that say scammers can make your call display show the ScotiaBank number, so be careful!  I knew it was a legit call as I had made an online txn the night before taking out an RRSP, and they knew the details, and were calling to confirm.

Scotiabank calling about my business VISA after I just preformed two transactions.

Corporate card with a large spending limit.. I make these purchases all of the time (computers and computer parts) so I guess it was a random flag check.

Message telling me there has been fraudulous transactions on my debit card, and to change my pin or my card at any branch.
There IS NOTHING wrong with my card. I have had a Scotia account for about 4 years, and EVERY year they find something wrong. I am totally annoyed and I think I will change banks. I have better things to do than to go there and wait an hour to change something that doesn't need to be fixed at all.

Got a call from them stating it was scotiabank.  Called the number on the back of my bank card to verify some details on my visa and asked, and she stated that they did just try and call bc of potential fraudulent charges.  It is scotiabank!

Another fraudulent attempt to separate me from my money! NEVER EVER do what is requested = eg" activate new "chip" technology etc. on a bank card. Isn't it amazing that with all their money, Scotia Bank needs to resort to such underhanded tactics!

I work at the Scotia bank call centre and any outgoing calls from our office will show on someone's call display as 416 750-6018. If anyone calls and asks for personal info, they are not calling from Scotiabank as our reps do not ask for that info unless you call into the contact centre at which point identity verifying questions are asked. Never give out personal info over the phone to anyone.

The number is legit.  If you do get a call from this number advising you that suspicious activity has been noted on your card, call them back at the number provided.  Alternately, you can call the number on the back of your card and get forwarded to Scotiabank Security.

Got a voicemail from this number, which was Scotia saying that there was suspicious activity on my debit card and my withdrawal limit had been reduced. Just checked my account - last transaction was a $16 grocery purchase 2 blocks away from my house. Suspicious indeed! Total scam.
