- LTaylorthis was an automated call from Scotiabank saying a credit card had been compromised. I don't have a Scotiabank credit card and they had the wrong name as well! The message said to call 1 800 234 0257... not going to do that, but what a pain in the butt. Thinking its a scam!
- Caller: scotiabank
- kimI spoke to an actual person who called to advise me I was approved for a scotia bank credit card, that I needed to verify some personal info and to fax my drivers lisence and most current bill to a number. I took this info to my bank to fax and "SURPRISE" they had no idea and would NEVER ask anyone to fax this kind information but would call you into the branch.

I know for certain that this is Scotia Bank. Call your local Scotia Bank branch, you should verify and ask your local bank that you deal with to clarify what this call is about. I have dealt with a Scotia Bank representative at this number when I answered this number. If you call back 1 416 750 6018 , you will just get a Scotia Bank recording. I am a customer of Scotia Bank too. - ChrisI just got a call from this number. I'm pretty sure it's Scotia. I'm one of their customers and I just made a large payment. The message even said I could call the number on the back of my card if I wasn't comfortable using the one she gave.
- KuljinderGot an SMS re a social sex site hookupincanada.com Lauraxoxo84 and an Amber xoxo??
Just a fraud to signup
Don't call the number ever. Just be cautious- Call type: Text message
- k.d. replies to Robyou do have a legal recourse. simply ask them directly to remove you from their call list.
they must comply (probably have a month or so to do so however.) - Kary| 1 replyI just got a call from this number, they claimed to be from Scotia Bank and I think her name was Amanda. Asked me if I made any purchases from these two stores and I said no for both and she said that they were suspecting fraud and told me they were going to freeze my accounts immediately and told me to cut up my cards. I was VERY suspicious so I was careful to not give ANY of my personal information. It was also really weird actually how she was all frantic and had the "we need to get this done ASAP" kinda tone. I kind of tried to get more info from her and she surprisingly was able to give me a lot of my personal info, including my full name, who my card was linked to, my branch, my address.... but I'm still very suspicious (hence why I'm on here lol). But I didn't feed her any info, I guess I'll wait a couple of days to see if I get a new card in the mail before I cut mine up. If not I'm visiting my branch.
- Caller: Scotia Bank
- tortured replies to DeanI received an email at my work saying that a transaction had been returned to me . They ask you to click on a line .it takes you to the scotiabank page where you put in your number. DO NOT DO IT. I called the bank and reported it
- ChuckSuspicious, Card comprimised, wrong cardholder name, appears to be Phishing attempt.
- WilI got a call from this number saying they were Scotiabnk and that my card had been compromised and thus they put a limit on the account. I thought it was a scam - they provided a 1800 number (234-0257) to call to have the card replaced. After looking at my online account with no apparent limits I called the number on the website to be safe and they confirmed that my account had a limit on it and that they would be sending a new card in the mail.
Very sketchy as neither of these numbers came up in a google search for scotiabank. - Dev| 1 replyEven, I got a call from Scotia Bank. My card has been blocked and they are sending me a new card.
- Rob replies to DevJust got a call from this number. Someone tried to use the card for $600 in Mississaga, I live near Kingston. They said they're cancelling the card and sending me a new one. I called the number on the back of the card and they verified that the fraud attempt was legit so the number is legit Scotia.
- KTJust received a call from this number from Scotiabank Security. I missed the call and they left a message requesting to verify activity on my credit card account. I called a 1-800 number they left on the message (I looked up the number, and it checked out), spent about a minute on hold, and was then asked about a series of suspicious transactions that turned out to be fraudulent. They closed the account, and sent me a new card.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- SIt's actually legit from Scotiabank. Contacted me about a transaction I had made and they had details nobody else could have. Did not ask for any personal information.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- LisaDefinately a scam!!! September 25th 2013 I received a call from this number (416) 750-6018. Computer voice said in voicemail they are calling from scotiabank and to call them immediately to verify a transaction or something like that. So I called the number they left in their voicemail (1-800-290-2654) and it is very suspicious. They say that you've reached scotiabank but immediately they have to enter your credit card number. No other options to speak to a live person or aything - they just want your credit card number. Total scam.
- Caller: scammer
- Sarah Banatawala4167506018 just called me...I want to know who this is
- CarolIt was Scotiabank wanting to verify some purchases I made with my company credit card. Called the number they left (1-800--813-6602) and spoke with a representative.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- matt replies to novascotiaguyHi
it is an Authorized Telephone no from Scotia bank, so call your branch and find the reason. - Susie QI've had 2 calls from this number in the past week. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I phoned them back and the recorded message says that it's Scotiabank and that they had phoned me and are going to call me back. I don't have any accounts with BNS and never have and never will. Some of the posters have written that the caller asked for info about their Visa cards. This sounds like a scam.
I have a BMO Mastercard. A couple of years ago, I got an automated call from them saying my card had been compromised and the message stated the last 4 digits of my card. They said not to use the card online or at a store that did not have a chip machine. They also said they would send me a new card and they did.- Call type: Prank
- LOL replies to NickyLOL, if I had a dollar for every person who puts in a complaint to Head Office... NOTHING GETS DONE ABOUT THIS STUFF IN HEAD OFFICE.
