They have called me 6 times in the last two days, but I haven't picked up because I don't recognize the number.  Good to know that other people have already looked into it.  Next time, I'm picking up and telling them that they have been reported to the FCC.

Got the same unsolicited call on Tuesday in Madison, WI.  Mr. hindu had me counting all the error messages in the event viewer (there were a ton but maybe that is normal?).  Then started offering 2 and 5 year protection plans to get rid of all the malware I must have dispite having Kaspersky running all the time.  He said they were free but I didn't persure it, I'm sure he would have wanted some credit card info for the "free offer".  I said no thanks for now.  After reading these posts I won't be quite that cordial if he calls back.  Wisconsin does have have a no- call list and I will be on it effective Jan. 1 and they will here from me.

Just received a call from this number.  Caller ID said, "International Call" -- thick accent asked for me.  I said I wasn't here :) and asked if I could take a message.  He said, "No, it's not important" while hanging up the phone.

ODD -- and obviously some kind of scam...

Got a call 9:45 pm 12/21/2011 from heavily-accented Indian male with lots of background noise.  Asked for me by name and said he wanted to talk with me about my computer.  Hung up--legit businesses don't make unsolicited calls that late.

Just got a call from some wog chick with an almost unintelligible accent.  Something about my computer system, blah blah blah. I couldn't understand much of her pidgin jibberish.  I told her to work on her English if she wants to sell crap to Americans, then hung up.

Getting lots of calls from 425 area code the past several months.  Obviously, these scammers are funneling calls from overseas boiler rooms through US numbers.  Washington state seems to be the new telemarketing hotspot for [***] call centers.

Just got a phone call (Phishing call) from so called MegaByte Solutions, Miami, US - +1-425-998-1533. And told me that they've all the detail information about your computer's system relate information.

They said, my computer has some critical errors. And asked me the Operating system (XP, Vista or 7). Told me to run CMD prompt then ASSOC command to check the ID on last 2nd line (it's common ID). and then told me to run EVENTVWR to see the Event Viewr.

They will tell you to do something with your computer. If will be a sincere guy to them and follow their instruction, then YOU'LL BE SCREWED and will LOST YOUR COMPUTER. They can HACK it or YOU WILL damage your files..!

So, please JUST IGNORE this kind of calls.

I finally blocked this F'ing phone# with my phone company! They offer a free service called "call restriction". It blocks the call from coming thru and an automated voice says "this party is not receiving calls at this time", then hangs up. I can have up to 12 numbers blocked with this service so if those idiots call from a new# I can block it as well:) I have been getting these calls 7 to 8 times a day, so ANNOYING! Everyone---call your phone company and see if they offer this service, it works!!!

See Joe's comment below.  I tried to screw with them as well.  Told them I had Windows 98 and then switched it to a Mac.  Had to put me on hold for a while. My time was 8:59 minutes which wasn't as good as the 15 min record below but the exact same crap.

I keep getting calls from this number but with the international number in front as in 011 425-998-1533. I never answer them and they never leave a message. Finally I got annoyed enough to try to figure out who is calling by searching the number on the Internet. Thanks everyone who has posted. It confirms my decision not to waste my cell phone minutes accepting this call.

My dad got this call a few times and told them he didn't have a computer.  As soon as you answer the phone they say "Sir are you sitting in front of your computer?!?"....I told my dad I wished I was around to take this call and screw with them....finally today I was there and the call came, he ran in to tell me it was them, so I got on the phone.  Guy asked me to locate the Start menu on the bottom left of the screen.  At this point I simply answered "what" to every thing the guy said....anyone who's watched pro wrestling lately knows the gig....after nothing but "what" the guy got mad, started shouting KEY-BOARD, do you see your KEY-BOARD....finally he asked if I was messing with him, then he finally started to follow my "what" with "what" on his own end, finally after a few whats back and forth I told the guy he obviously didn't have anything to say and hung up on him.

This phone call is directly related to a SCAM based out of India. Do not give these F**KERS any personal information. DO NOT log onto their website or follow any directions they give you. Instead......realize what is happening to you and take control of the situation. These are criminals performing criminal activities.....TREAT THEM AS SUCH. First off, delay and annoy them by staying on the line. This wastes their time and their money. Keep asking them to repeat themselves. Say you can't understand their thick, uneducated, criminalistic accents. Ask what company they are working for? Where they are calling you from (then ask a question about the weather there and listen to them squirm for the appropriate anwser). Continue with these questions until you have sufficiently escalated the conversation and thourghly frustrated the scam pushing prick on the other end of the line. Then when he brings in his "supervisor" you can really be offensive. Say what you want to this [***]. Keep in mind - these people are engaged in criminal activity. They are trying their best to make you their victim. They have already done this to countless people, some of which are your friends and family. They are able to continue doing this because they do it outside of your country where your sensible, practicle laws and way of life do not affect them. So, you see....these people are not playing by the same set of rules as you and I. When they call you, pretend your confronting some foreign [***] whom you've just discovered has broken into your house and is stealing your lifes work. Think what you would want to do to that person.....now say it to the scam artist on the other end. Good Luck!

Got a call last night - I'm in Canada. Same crap- it was my good buddy "Charlie" with his thick Indian accent. But I was in a playful mood - so I went along with them for a bit, just wasting their time - and finally I let them have a piece of my mind. What a bunch of scammers! Please spread the word to friends and family about this scam. We have a lot of vulnerable and non tech-savvy folks who may fall for this.
    Happy Holidays!
