I got a call from this number today. Caller ID says it belongs to “DCS, INC.”  The woman calling had my name, but wasn’t calling to speak with me. She said an Internet search showed that I live down the street from a guy they are looking to contact. I never heard of him, so I ended the call. My number is unlisted, so I didn’t really appreciate the intrusion. I looked this company up online. Their website says they specialize in "collecting delinquent or defaulted debt".

The company is Diversified Collection Services, Inc. They are a legitimate collection agency, mainly specialing in the collection of defaulted student loans. They definitely don't like to be questioned. If you have a problem with this company, I would suggest contacting an attorney in your area who specializes in the FDCPA - Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I get calls from this place every day. Makes me mad, they never leave a message, and when i call back, they want me to leave all this personal info. All i had the guts to say was that this kim is whacked out, and noone is gonna leave personal info like that. Then i hung up.

so what did the police say! these people have been calling me for a year now and won't stop! I don't answer calls like this.

I got a call from that number and i do have a outstanding loan for i just kept feeling weird about that number the lady name was dean forester something like that she told me that i have to pay today which today is 4-21-2010 or i will be in default and they will start action against me she wanted my account info. and i gave it to her like a Jack [***] and my routing for my bank  she call the bank herself and f i should've  know but when i gave it to her i thought about it and i went to the bank and STOP the fund from going to them and i change my account number but i'm mad because i give out my address and reference number so they call other people. SCAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! ALL THE WAY!!!!! KNEW SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT IM GLAD I LOOK UP THAT NUMBER ON GOOGLE IF I DIDN'T I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNEW..... I thought it was real but some thing she was say just didn't make any senses at all that B**tch!!!!

If they're collecting on defaulted student loans they're probably legit, butthey're quite stupid. "Jennifer" keeps calling me. It goes like this:

Me: Hello
Her: Is this Monica XXX?
Me: Who is this?
Her: Is this Monica XXX?
Me: WHO IS THIS?
Her: Jennifer.
Me: Jennifer from where?
Her: Jennifer.
Me: Yeah. From where?
Her: Is this Monica?
Me: Jennifer FROM WHERE?
Her: Is this Monica?
Me: You call MY phone and then don't answer my questions? You are calling FROM WHERE?

Sometimes she says DCS, sometimes she plays coy. Even cursing her out doesn't work. She must be used to that. She's a moron. I wish these people would get real jobs! What is she expecting to get from an unemployed poor person? As if I owe them anything anyway!

So, should we start a list of these scumbag callers? We could look them up in Oregon, and call them at THEIR homes and not identify ourselves.

Called my house looking for someone else,, said my wive gave them as a reference and wanted to get ahold of them.  I told them to check the phone book.

Go to your nearest SS office and get a new SS# and tell them you've been a victim of fraud.........

Check out Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), fairdebtcollection.com, and you will see how much of the law they are breaking. I sure they haven't read the rules of FDCPA or other debt collecting laws. Let them know if your number was not on the application they can't call it, and if they call your cell tell them not to call your cell, and the law says they have to stop calling your cell only contact numbers on the application that was filled out. I received a call today from this number and, not to kill the mood or anything, the lady was very pleasant and polite, asking about a neighbor i didn't know. I offered to look her contact up in the phone book and told her a number which she said was the one that she already had, but was disconnected. I said 'sorry i couldn't be more helpful' she thanked me, and I hung up. It didn't even feel like a telemarketer call at all; she never asked me my name or for any personal information at all, didn't seem to be trying to keep me on the line either. She was so pleasant, i was about to call back and offer to leave a note with my neighbor, until i looked the number up on google. Definitely the nicest telemarketer call i have ever received.

I never answer numbers that dont look familar.. but they call me day after day after day... never leave messages.. its getting annoying

We keep getting repetitive calls from this number. They pose as a credit card collections company. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. They pose as someone trying to get information such as a SS#. I believe that this is fraud and needs to be turned over to the ATTORNEY GENERAL. They say that they have 800 people and when we started calling back we would get Lydia Smith and Rose-the same people!!

I would suggest filing a complaint with the Oregon State's Attorney General's Office...  Also, you can Google the

Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or FDCPA

This Act is US Federal Law that Collection Agencies MUST abide by... if they are telemarketers, they MUST respect a DO NOT CALL request.

Got a call from these people on my cell (5 missed calls so far).  Did not answer.  Somehow got my work number, called and when i told them I was at work and could not talk kept going.  They are a collection agency for a student loan.  Said they would garnish my wages w/out a court order, told her this was not legal.  Told me I could not go back to school, also wrong.  Would not give me information for return call to set up re-payment until I got so pissed I was yelling and then told me not to yell.  These people are a**holes.  Avoid dealing with them if at all possible.

I called this number back to see what this phone call was in regards to but they were asking me if I am related to a particular person they are trying to contact. We had the same last name so they had assumed?!!? Weird phone call!

I get myself a list of silly phone numbers. Massage parlors, Church of Scientology, local ethnic restaurant, things like that.

When collectors call, and they do now and then, I give them a bad time and then act like I'm really, really doing a major favor by giving the contact number.

That tends to get rid of them.

I had the rudest person ever by the name of Connie today who asked for some guy I never heard of and she decided to nasty to me. I plan to call the phone co and find out who this caller really is. It is annoying
