They call me several times a month.  When I answer, they immediately ask for my SSN.  At first it scared me and then I thought wait a minute.  How easy is it for someone to say they have personal business you need to take care of and ask for your social and then get your info and steal your identity.  Do not answer these calls.

    CanadianEh!
I have an American phone number forwarded to my home number in Canada.  I received a call from 541-955-7800 and called back as they were on my caller ID.  When I called I was asked for my SSN which of course I don't have cause I'm Canadian.  I have them my phone number that they called (the American one) and they said they had no record of them calling my number.  Asked if I lived in such and such town in NY and would not answer my question as to who they were, even though I asked 5 times.  He eventually hung up on me when I kept insisting that they give me their company name and what it was regarding, he did tell me it was DCS but would not tell me what it was regarding.

    Sounds very fishy to me.

    Always google unknown numbers.

Called and asked for an unknown. Heckled the first girl who answered, asking her why the call got transferred to her if the person didn't work there. Transferred her to another building where she said she was told the person worked. Transferred back, saying the other building told her that the person she was looking for worked with us and they were in THEIR directory, why not ours? Told her we've gotten calls for this person numerous times over the past 6 months and we've told the caller every time that they are not in our directory. Sent her to HR. They're getting more rude and argumentative. Give up already!

Are you unable to READ?  Most of these people never had a loan!  This number has called me with the same modus operandi (not leaving a message, calls over and over).  No one in our family has any loan, let alone an unpaid one. Have you ever heard of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act?  Perhaps you should read up on it before you claim that DCS is legitimate.  See http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm and learn, please.  These people are Phishers.

Oh!  it just occurred to me....you must WORK for them!

I had a student loan over 20 years ago and because of a clerical error the bank did not pay the school my loan for my final year of my phd, so I was unable to complete my phd. Since I was at a college abroad, I decided to remain abroad and never live, work, or pay taxes in the usa again for the rest of my life. This company still calls me every 5 years trying to collect on the debt which is now 10 times what was originally borrowed.
I told them that USA laws do not apply outside the USA and that her petty threats to place a lean on my property, garnish my wages, and take my tax refunds were pointless as none of my personal business was ever going to be in the jurisidiction of the USA ever again.
So they can call me today, and in 10 years and in 20 years and in 50 years, I will not pay a loan to collection agency to a bank that because of their error ended my educational goals.
What does it take to get it through to these people that they can not get blood from a turnip!
And if the US.Gov can write off trillions in debts to the banks and bail out wall street, then why are they still persuing us for debts from more than two decades ago. All debts are removed after 7 years, so should student loans.

I got multiple calls from 5419557800 on my house and cell phone. She said her name was Ann Philip and that she was looking for my brother. She stated that he had put my boyfriend's name down as a reference for a job. I mistakenly gave the lady the number. Dumb on my part but I was half asleep. She then calls my cell phone number about 4 min later but did not leave a message. The same lady called me on my cell phone with another number 2098583970 today. This time I have my guards up. I asked her who she was and this time said her name was Ann Frank and that she was from DCS. I told her that she's a telemarketer. I told her that my brother has a job.  She got all crazy on the phone with me. She told me that I was his reliable contact person on his application but I guess I wasn't. I asked her not to call me anymore and she kept on saying that i was not a reliable contact. I called her a [***] and hung up the phone. :)

I just got a call from this number.  I had a student loan, but because I'm 100% disabled vet, the loan has been discharged.  They asked first if this was (my last name's) residence, and I said yes.  But then they asked what the name of the trailer park is that I live in.  Then they asked if I know the person living in a different lot from me, someone she said was named "Sarah".  I said no, but I could go and see if someone named "Sarah" lived there.  She said no thanks and asked if I knew who owned the trailer park.  I said I didn't, that we rent from the trailer owner.  Then she thanked me for my time and ended the call.

After I hung up, I did a search for the name that came up on my caller ID, and is was DCS, INC.  So, if I start getting letters from this company about my discharged student loan, I'ma sue their A$$ OFF.  heh.

Studentloanjustice.org  Good place to go for help with defaulted student loans.  They're a grassroots organization that are fighting to get the laws about student loans changed.  I'm a member and got the infor to get my student loan discharged from there.  Good Luck!
