DCS is a collection agency for defaulted student loans.

Asking people to be responsible for their debt is not against the law or fraud. HOWEVER threatening people by telling them they're going to "take them for all they have", refusing to identify themselves or their company, calling repeatedly after being asked not to call, and harassment is. A "legit" business does NOT reduce the name they have created by acting in such an atrocious manner.

I received the same call from that number. I called it back and they asked me what my SS was. i told her I don't give out that information. I told her she needed to stop calling me or I was going to file a complaint to the FTC for harassment. She hung up on me and called me back again demanding to speak to another person. I just told her i was recording all messages and conversations. I am going to be turning them in. I  haven't heard from them since then.

so  you have student loans? if so pay your effn bill or we will garnish you til the debt is paid..simple life skill pay your bills as for not having any loans then tell your "friends not to list you as a reference SIMPLE GOOD DAY

DCS, Inc. is a collection agency. 541 is just one of the many area codes they use. DCS, Inc. also has local offices and local area codesmay show up on caller id.

It's very simple really.  Just pay your student loans back!!  All I keep reading is people whining about "fraud."  Taking out a student loan then not paying it back.....that's FRAUD!!!  The collectors that keep "harrassing" you are trying to do you a favor.  You may scoff at that, but it's true.  If your student loan goes into default you are subject to wage garnishment, tax offsets, etc....If you just pick up the phone, and stop running from your obligation, in many instances there are repayment options that will get the loan out of default....and stop the so called "harrassment"

Good for you.  Finally, someone with some "real" info to share, and completly accurate!! Very refreshing to know that some people actually research, not just whine and act like victims.  I am not a collector either, but what makes me really mad, is the Doctors or Attorneys who make oodles of money, and wont even pay back the hand that fed them!!

DCS, Is Diversified Collection Services. There are no laws against trying to collect payment from people who don't pay their loans.

Caller ID showed DCS INC (first red flag).  Called our real estate company asking for one of our agents.  This agent NEVER uses the office phones as a contact number.  He wants all his clients to call him on his cell number (second red flag).  When I told them he wasn't in today, they asked for his cell number that they had a personal issue they were helping him with.  Anyone he was dealing with would have already had that number (remember red flag number 2?).  I asked if I could take a name and number and have him get back with them instead.  The lady was very polite.  Samantha White  1-800-927-7667 x7075

Note: I don't have any outstanding loans or debts. I do have student loans; however, I have set automatic withdrawal from my checking account every month.

This number just called my friends phone somehow and asked for me by name. I never used their number on anything before. This is an incredible violation of my boundaries and can't imagine that tracking down my friend's phone numbers and calling them to track me down is legal.
