- BettyOkay so I just got a call yesterday from a Quintara ?? who also gave me her extention. and it was the same thing that I had won a Bridal Package and they would be in my city today. well I didnt have a chance to call til today. first time it went to voicemail and it said what to say in the message and then at the end it said i couldnt leave a message. Next time I could leave a message and when i tried it cut me off and said "enter your password" where was I supposed to get a password?! and then I listened again to where she was calling from. It really sounded something like chefworld. lol. I had origonally thought it had to have been davids bridal (but wasn't). So... Idk what to do.. lol.
- brandieb1978I just received a message from Ingrid from RP Michigan telling me of the prizes I won and left me the number to call her back. I called back and was explained the prizes and had to sign up to sit through a demonstration of their products. I've been reading all the posts about this number and I don't understand how so many people can call it a scam when they didn't even go to the demonstration. I am recently engaged and I know I have signed up for many different sites and also registered to win a lot of free stuff so I have no idea how they got my name and number, but I know I have put it on some registration cards. Even tho me and my fiancé are skeptical I still want to attend. We both know we don't have the money to buy the products, but what would it hurt to give an hour of our time and get something for free in return. We were told about the trip, the coupons and a set of wedding bands, I'm all for trying to get free stuff considering we are paying for our entire wedding ourselves. I will be attending tomorrow in Okemos, MI and when I get home I will write back and tell about my experience and if it is a scam or not. The call I got came from 1-800-676-4731.
- Caller: RP Michigan
- dmh1324Actually, this is not a scam.
I got this message and was very scepticle, but my fiance and i decided to check it out. We went to their cookshow, and did have to sit through it for about 2 hours. The guy was very convincing but we werent forced to buy anything. At the end of it, we got up and claimed our prizes. Completely legitimate. However, if you dont want to buy anything, go into it knowing that because they are very convincing. But claim the prize, its definately worth it.- Caller: Cookworld
- Jessica... again replies to Jessica... again| 1 replyUPDATE from my last posts
I was very convinced this was all completely legitimate and that there was no catch...
but I have finally stumbled upon the catch...
We wouldn't have made the purchase if it weren't for the cruise. We wanted to do a cruise for our honeymoon anyway, so that is why we went for it.
We sent in the voucher and everything and they said you'll be contacted by a travel agent. Well after about 2 months I finally received an email saying that before we are assigned a travel agent, we have to pay the port fees and taxes first..about $400.. Which really made me uneasy. I continued to read..
and the major catch is that you only pick 3 out of the 12 months in which you would like to travel, and you don't get to pick your exact dates. They pick the travel dates for you out of the 3 months you choose. AND the 3 ports you get to choose from? Well you have to put your order of preference. You're not even guaranteed to sail from your number one pick.
That was the deal breaker for me. The sales people really had me convinced that there was absolutely no catch. And dummy me believed them. I guess if something does sound too good to be true, it probably is.
We're going to a bridal show next week and Cookworld will be there. I plan on discussing the whole situation with them and I am going to attempt to return the cookware and knives and either get all my money back, or at least not have to pay the remaining balance. I don't even know.. but I'm going to try anything I can. They are amazing pots and pans and knives, but not worth it without the cruise. I'll update what happens after the bridal show. - Sarah replies to nicole| 2 repliesI went too....got my gifts, did not buy anything, and went on my way. Has anyone actually used the voucher for the vacation package??? That is what I am wondering. They can try to sell me anything they want...I'm not a sucker, and have no problem getting rude with pushy sales-types. I'm thinking they can offer the "gifts" due all the push-over people who buy their ridiculously expensive "crappy" products. The one I went to, the guy actally said in his little speech that the people who he hates the most are the people who like the product and don't sign up! I'm sorry....if I'm going to drop 3 grand an a set of pots and pans, I'm going to be researching the heck out of it before signing the dotted line...not buying it on a whim!
- sarah....again.... replies to Sarah| 1 replyThanks Jessica! That is what I was curious about! I will probably still try it, but I'm not (nor have I yet) giving them a penny without details first. I will post back and let you know my experience...if I can find this site again later! :-)
On a seperate note, previously we got some aprons, which were nice enough, and this time we were offered 2 free wedding bands in addition to our 2 night 3 day trip. Any experiences with these?? Trip or no trip, I'm more interested in the bands....! I'm curious of the quality, or if there are any catches that people have actually experienced! Not really intersted in heresay.... - Jessica again.. replies to Jessica... againNo problem Sarah. I just think I need to let everyone else know my true experience so that they wont make the same mistakes that I have. We were suckered into it and I completely regret it now. But you live and you learn I guess.
ANOTHER UPDATE
We went to the bridal show and of course Cookworld was the very first booth when we walked it. And the person that was there was Tom who was the one we actually made the purchase from. I TRIED to explain my situation and how I was very disappointed in how this whole situation has panned out.. but he barely let me get a word in edge wise! He was SO VERY COMPLETELY rude that I couldn't even comprehend how much of a jerk he was being. He kept telling me to write down my name and number and they'd be in touch with me to see if they could do anything for me... and I asked "well like what?", he looked at me like he was surprised that I'm actually asking him and continued to tell me just to write down my name and number. I continued to try to voice my concerns and he kept interrupting me and not even listening. I told him that I'd love to return the product and get my money back and he looked at me and said "well why would you want to do that?". He got really snippy with me and would not answer any of my questions. All the while, he was still handing out some type of brochure or something to other brides and potential victims of their bullcrap. He did give me a phone number and extension to a lady named Patty. He said she might be able to do something for me...and he said that just to get me to shut up and go away.
We called this Patty lady, I explained my situation, and she said that it says in bold print on my contract that I have only 3 days to return the product to get a refund. I explained that I was misled to believing something and I didn't know until months later. She began to get rude and kept repeating that I cannot get any money back or return any product or get any type of compensation for being misled and taken advantage of. I told them how ridiculous and horrible they are and that they just take advantage of engaged couples who are desperate to save money.. offering them a free cruise and telling them there is absolutely no catch. I don't know how those jerks live with themselves.
Patty gave me a phone number for a lady named Fran who deals with the vacations, and she said that was the best she could do for me. Whatever.
We called Fran. She sounded like a very sweet older lady. She was very kind to me, which was appreciated. She told me that they do work with you on the date that you travel.. I thought they just tell you when you go and you don't have a choice. But I have a feeling they only give you a couple choices. And she said you're not stuck with anything until you're ok with it and then it is finalized. She assured me that she would help me with anything along the way and to call her if I have any questions and need help. I asked her what company she was with, Cookworld or Odenza (which is the travel group the voucher is with), and she said that she works with both.. kind of the in between person. She said to go ahead and send in the port fees and taxes (which came to 400 or 500 I think) and then we'll be put in contact with a travel agent. And they can help us with any upgrades we want. The voucher is for one of the little inside rooms, and of course we want a bigger room than that for our honeymoon. She couldnt tell me how much an upgrade would be for a balcony, and I have a feeling its probably over $500 or something.
I still don't feel good about any of it though. I did more research on Odenza, and I found a lot of people saying that they stick you with more fees as you go along. We're going to scratch the whole thing and book our own cruise and travel when and where we originally wanted to to begin with and be certain we're getting what we want without any fees. With this voucher, you wont end up saving much at the end after upgrades and other fees and things like that.
Stay away from all of it. We took the chance at actually thinking we were getting something for free, and we were completely wrong. And now we're out $1900 for a set of pots and knives that we could have bought cheaper for the same quality somewhere else. We did it for the cruise and that didn't even pan out.
It's a shame that there are companies like this taking advantage of young engaged couples. I'm sorry to say that we are one of them. We plan on reporting this to the Better Business Bureau, and I'm hoping all of my posts with help at least one couple out there and prevent them from losing a lot of money like we did.
Good luck to everyone. - Nikki| 1 replyYou guys are all ridculious. It is NOT a scam. Go to the website:
http://www.chefworldinc.com/promotions.html
It is CHEFWORLD, not Sheffield. I have wasted all this time reading stupid people write how it is a scam, 6 pages of compliments, meanwhile the ONLY 2 people who WENT said that it was great! I have went to it myself with my fiance and we were not pressured at all to buy any products. And we received our gifts as promised.
It is sad because the economy is really bad, and I bet some brides get really excited about the prizes and then read all these bridezillas crying and moaning that it is a scam, and then they get turned off to it and miss out on gifts they could really use. And I know I don't think I am too good to spend an hour and a half of my time watching a demo then receiving a free trip voucher and $1000 coupon book. It is NOT a SCAM. I've seen at least 4 people say "and they dont even have a website!!" JUST USE YOUR EYES AND FINGERS AND YOU WILL FIND IT! OR, BETTER YET, ASK THE PERSON WHO CALLS YOU! DUHHHHHHHHHHERRRRRRRRRRR
Bottom line - I HAVE PERSONALLY WENT TO THE DEMO, YOU DO NOT NEED MONEY, YOU GET PRIZES EITHER WAY. THAT IS ALL.- Caller: Chef World / 21st Century RP Brides
- Nikki is a liar replies to NikkiLOL sounds like one of the filthy scammers is mad that this site is exposing her filthy SCAM.
Stop trying to steal money. Not qualified for honest work are you!
What a disgusting way to spend your xmas, trying to run your FILTHY SCAM on a site that is here to help people AVOID getting ripped off by CROOKS like YOU. - toniLOL....SCAMS... SCAMS... SCAMS...I HATE THEM!!!! STOPPPPP!!!!
This is what "I won"
1: A 3 day 2 night trip to one of 4 locations Mexico, Puerto Rico, Caribbean or Canada. No timeshares or blackout dates.
#2: A $1,000 grocery card gift card is paid for by us for a year and it is also an online membership and most couples continue to use after their paid year is used.
And #3 is optional
#3: Is 20%-40% discount on our own product line. We do cookware, flatware, and of course china
I am suppose to go on Sat at 6:00pm to Hauppauge for them to give me the prices and COOK for Us.....
I am happy to see we were not the only ones out there. once i googled i found so much info that it made me feel alittle better :) also found good info about the scam at this website http://www.cookworld-scam.com- Caller: 631-271-2025
- kindo1024 replies to CuriousI went to one of the cookworld presentation. You sit through a salesman trying to sell you there product. You don't have to buy anything and you still get the trip and 1000 coupon. They don't pay for the airfair. But if you don't buy something the trip is an all exclusive trip to an 4 or 5 star hotel at 5 different places you can choose. The cheapest packeage is 800$. Go or don't go, I think its worth it.
- BrandonYou Dirty, Dirt Bag, Road Side, Fast Talking, Swindlers! My Wife And I Bought This 23 Piece Set And It Is Crap Product! The Pots Never Come Clean They Stain. The Handles That Are Supposed To Go On The Sautee Pans Don't Go On I Tried Multiple Times. I Tried Cooking Eggs On The "Egg Rack" And It Stuck Like Crazy Everything Sticks And Burns They Say Add Water And Walk Away Listen For The Whistle And It's Done..When I Came To Check On My Food (Cooking On Low) It Was Burnt To The Pan And Smoking It's Just Like Any Other Cook Ware Only This One Is Crazy Expensive. If You Have Momy And Daddys Money Then Buy It If Your Are A Hard Working Blue Coller Worker Trust Me If I Knew What I Knew Now I Would Slap That Guy Who Swindled Us With His Fast Talk. It's Not Even Woth A "Free" Gift Because The Whole Operation Is A Waste Of Time. I Am So Angry.
- JolenaMy fiancee and I recently went to the presentation, got our prizes, and bought their cheapest package. Instead of doing the vacations, we did the wedding bands. We got a giftcard for JVL Jeweler and your order the rings online. The gift card itself is not a scam, but let me tell you something-for the mens wedding bands, they're great. For the womens wedding bands-not so much. They're just as big and bulky as the men's. I guess that's just personal preference, though. I guess we're going to have to wait and see what happens with the cookware and everything. It seems legit, but I guess we won't find out til we actually get our things. They cooked food for us and everything, which pretty much sold us, too.
When they originally called me, I talked to Jessica (I think) and she was more than glad to explain everything to me. I asked her if I could call her back because I was driving and she said that was fine and told me I could call her back on the number she called me from, which is the number listed on here. We were there with another couple who had done this sort of thing before, just not with this specific company.
90% of people on here that are saying it's a scam haven't tried it or anything. The only way to know is from either personal experience or from knowing people that have gone through it. Yeah, it sounds like a scam, but if it turns out to be good, I'll laugh at everyone who thinks it's a scam. Especially since we plan on selling the vacations.
Jessica, do you believe the pots and pans are really worth it? Because honestly, they just confirmed our order yesterday and if you feel it isn't worth it, I'll talk to my fiancee and have him cancel. Seems legit, but honestly have no idea.
I am in fact a real person. I work for a bank in Texas and I'm getting married soon, just like everyone else on here. Take the time to read ALL of the reviews because it may be worth it in the end.- Caller: Bridal Awards/Cookworld/Chefworld
- sceptical replies to sarah....again....Hi,
we also got the free wedding bands giftcard and 2 free nights at a wyndham in the Bahamas. I just got the rings today and am not really sure if it's a scam or not. The package declaration claims to contain two pieces of costume jewelry valued at $3.00 each. It has really made me wary.
The rings look nice enough and if you don't care about dropping $50 on rings that may or may not be titanium or tungsten then go for it. We plan on using them as 'dummy' rings when we travel. However, if $50 is important for your budget or you want to be 100% sure that you are getting the real metal I'd think twice as I can't really say for sure.
