- John| 3 repliesMy wife received a call from this number today. It was a recording saying they were calling about our PNC VISA card. We do not have a PNC VISA credit card, only a PNC Debit card that is VISA. I have called our local branch and reported the event and phone number to them. They will be pursuing it through their internal organization.
- Caller: Card Services
- nono| 1 replyYes, I have received several calls from the same number since July 6. The same problem. I called PNC, they told me the number belongs to their visa service. I called back, it was nothing to do with my debit card. Why the calls are still coming?
- Caller: PNC
- UnknownPNC Security fraud SCAM!! DO NOT give out any of your personal information. Just tell them you know who they are and their information has been forwarded to the FBI... that will get them to stop calling very quickly.. PLEASE make sure to contact local bank IN PERSON afterwards!
- Ethan| 4 repliesThis is legit, they called, then I called PNC instead of calling them back, and it turned out that I did have fraudulent activity. If you don't trust it, I suggest calling the number on your bank's actual website and asking them about the call and they will forward you to the correct department to get everything sorted out.
- Caller: PNC
- IndyRonAutomated mesage machine claimed it was PNC Bank. Wanted to verify debit card purchases.
Never, never, never. Call an unknown number back about your banking account.
I called PNC Bank and reported the call.- Caller: PNC Bank?
- EmilyThis number just called me, and an automated service came on stating they are from PNC and are verifying suspicious activity on my card, and named off the last four numbers of my card. I was prompted to push #1 if i authorized the transactions, #2 if i needed more details, and #3 if i did not authorize the transaction. There was one transaction that i didnt think i had authorized, and was transfered to the security department where the woman asked me to verify my birth date, last four of my ssn, and the amount of my last deposit. We figured out that in fact i HAD approved the transaction i was suspicious of myself, and they thanked me and sent me on my way. They said the account was flagged because so much money was being used out of state. Well...im on vacation in florida from indiana. I mean, i appreciate that they notified me that all this money was being used out of state, and wanted to make sure that i was aware of it, but i didnt realize they cared that much. I figured i just wouldve been another number in their system.
- Caller: PNC Bank
- bill carson replies to Ethan| 1 replyIT IS NOT LEGIT! The 1-800 number is a scam to get card numbers and security info. It is NOT PNC.
- kate6My husband got an automated call asking for me (exactly as listed on my check card) ending in whatever four digits he couldn't quite hear, so we don't know if it was correct. Anyway, I just called PNC, and there are no flags or anything on my accounts, and was told by PNC to regard that call as fraudulent. I never answer questions on such calls. I always call the institution's main number to be sure who I am talking with!!!
- Caller: Fraudulent acting as PNC
- sueReceived a VM from this # proclaiming to be PNC, stated my name in a recording and the last four digits of my debit card asking me to call back to review recent activity. I called the actual PNC # listed on the back of my card and they confirmed that it was a SCAM and that any 1-800 # from PNC the next three digits would be 762 (1-800-762-xxxx).
- Caller: protend to be PNC
- MRobotic voice message stated my name & they were the GAP credit card fraud department
- Caller: GAP Visa Fraud Dept
- Same thing replies to JohnIt's a real call. PNC is telling you that your debit card has been compromised. Meaning, there has been a charge to your card that may not have been made by you. Call them back ASAP!
- MattI got a phone call from this number today, but missed it. When I called back, it was the VISA associates of PNC talking about fraudulent transactions on my account. They put a hold on my card and told me to call back after the transactions post so they can be reimbursed. Afterwards, I found this thread and thought, "Did I fall for a sophisticated social engineering trick? They knew where to send the card and everything!"
So I called the 888-PNC-BANK number just to be safe, and when I told them I saw fraudulent charges she noted than an account had already been stopped, and to her surprise, that a new card was already in the system to get shipped out. This number is the real deal. The people telling you it's a scam are the people stealing information, and want to keep that access for as long as possible. If you don't answer this call, but you do call PNC directly, i guarantee that you'll have a nice discussion about some strange charges on your account.- Caller: PNC/Visa
- MPSame as previous posts...received an automated call to verify "suspicious activity" on my PNC debit card. I hung up and called PNC who advised the call did not originate from them and was not legitimate. I also notified Giant Eagle as that is the only place I had used my card in several days.
- Caller: PNC Imposter
- KPReceived a robotic message from PNC security card services wanting to verify suspicious activity to my Visa debit card. I did not call back, but after viewing this website I checked my online account. I did have an unauthorized charge to my account. I called 1-888-PNC-BANK instead of this number, and they were able to fix it. If you receive a call from this number at least monitor your account to make sure there was no unauthorized use.
- BMSo I got a call from this number after shopping big time for shoes and I immediately searched it online and this place came up. I kept ignoring the calls for 2 days. I shopped online for clothes and my card was declined BUT I knew I had the money so then I decided to message PNC securely about the number. They messaged me that it was their fraud hotline and gave me another number to call. I called that number and they asked for my card number and last 4 digits of my SSN and date of birth. They went over charges to my card and I confirmed that I had made all those charges and now my card is available to use. SO in the end I guess it was not a scam BUT contact PNC in person to make sure. I will be doing so after I get out of work today.
- Caller: Said to be PNC Bank
- canebayflyerFifth call in 2 days, all I do is hang up when I see the number.
