- John| 1 replyLegit call. I Received a call from an electronic message claiming to be PNC Fraud Dept. wanting to verify activity on my debit card.
I did not want to return the call to the number, not knowing if it was legit.
I called the number on the back of my card, and after explaining what had happened, got transferred to someone in fraud department. They verified my activity, and when I asked if they had contacted me via the automated call, they verified that they had indeed called me.- Caller: PNC Fraud Dept
- TomI also called PNC Fraud dept. to see if this was their number and if they were who had called. The agent I talked to said NO it WAS NOT PNC, and that it probably WAS an attempt at gaining personal information (like recent transaction amounts) so an intruder could access your account. Do NOT give out any information in response to this very legitimate-sounding call. It is a phishing attempt.
- Caller: "800 Service"
- JayPNC fraud department. Legit number.
- Caller: PNC
- Call type: Event reminder
- Fraud Squad| 1 replyPart of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

- upsetReceived 2 calls today. No answer when I picked up.
- Caller: PNC
- Susan PNC customerReceived voicemail last night and this morning claiming to be PNC Fraud protection. This now the 3rd phone they have been calling from. I have verified with PNC this is not PNC.
- MicheleThis number has called me several times over the past two days wanting me to give information over the phone. I called the 800 number for PNC and gave them the phone number and they have no idea who this number is.... I've checked my account frequently and there is no fraudulent activity
- Caller: PNC
- Opie replies to ConcernedYeah it's a scam. Don't have to do homework cuz WE DON'T BANK WITH PNC and never have.
- StevenI have recieved SEVERAL calls from this number. I bank with PNC, and just like everyone else has stated, it's a recording saying its PNC Blah blah blah. Please contact them to verify charges. I decided to have my debit card changed. Going to report this number to them tomorrow. Anyone claiming this is real is either a complete fool, or in on this scam.
- NicoleI'm pretty confident PNC wouldn't call me five times in one day especially after business hours like this number has. Definitely a scam. Always call the number on the back of your card not some random number that calls you
- David replies to JohnTotally legit PNC fraud prevention. I had 3 charges on my bank card in a single day, larger than usual, so they called to make sure it was me. Glad they do that
- mchambone| 1 replyThis is actually PNC calling - they will read you a few transactions they have deemed suspicious and you just have to press 1 to acknowledge you made the charge to 2 to reject it. All these people who are saying it's a scam either don't have PNC cards or had their cards shut off shortly after ignoring these calls. This is the third time I've dealt with this and if you ignore their calls your card will be shut off and you'll need to call the bank number on the back of your card to get it ironed out anyway so just do it. It doesn't ask for any information from you besides your ZIP.
- Caller: PNC Bank
- JoannaI called PNC and its a fraud. Close your debit card number and do NOT give these people any information. Call the actual branch
- Joanna replies to mchamboneIt's not pnc calling, I just called the bank
- Dex replies to BigKahunaFSULegit call... PNC does do this. My card was pirated and they caught it.
- JoephesLegit PNC Call. I must admit that the call seemed sketchy as I was disconnected both times they called with no sound at all. I even called the number back and became even more sketchy when they gave me the wrong number for the account. After calling the 1800 PNC number I found out that it was PNC that called me due to a denied transaction.
- Caller: PNC
- klash12345This really is PNC. If they spot something odd, they will call to verify the transaction was legit. If you fail to respond, your card could end up deactivated until you speak to them.
- Caller: PNC Bank
- JordonDon't give them your card number. I received three calls from this number today and when I called back a man picked up and said " thank you for calling pnc, what's the card number you're calling about?" PNC does not do that. They ask you to verify your information even if they have your number saved and it pulls up your info. I hung up and called PNC and they said they would never call three times within a four hour window and that there's no fraudulent activity on my card and I use my card a lot. Don't fall for this. Call the PNC number on the back of your card and go through the prompts to get a real PNC consultant. Everyone on here that's saying it's a legit call is trying to scam you as well. Don't be fooled.
- Caller: PNC Fraud services
- joejapI got the call checked with bank next day. they checked it , and verified it was their fraud department.
