SCAM! Called PNC from the number ON MY STATEMENT NOT the one on the prerecord end message.  Talked to the fraud department.  SCAM!  About 15 minutes later, a real person left a message.  At his time the call was from NOrth Carolina.  Different Number.  252-153-0019.  BTW, the 4 digits they claimed my card ended with..........were wrong!

Those who want an answer can call the phone number on their bank statement, as I did.  SCAM!

SCAM!  Don't call the number on the prerecorded message, call the phone number on your bank statement.  They will tell you, as they told me.....SCAM!   Concerned sounds like a scammer trying to defend SCAMS!  He or she types the same response over and over.  Don't be scammed by scammers!

Just called PNC about this # and they said this did NOT come from their call center. The person I spoke with told me that it was a phishing call and to never give out my information over the phone unless I have called the bank. A 1-800# can come from anyone who is willing to pay for a toll-free number. Financial institutes should NOT call you and ask for information to verify your identity, financial institutes will simply put a hold on your account if they find something and then YOU have to call THEM to discuss the situation.

Last night I received a call from this number.  The caller said he was calling from PNC Bank concerning my VISA debit card number. He correctly identified the last four digits of my PNC bank debit card.  Asked me to call back to
"verify" a debit transaction.  I do not plan to call the number back because my debit card has been working fine at the bank terminals. Instead I will visit a local branch of the PNC Bank in D.C.

I got an automated call from this number and they wanted me to "verify" my identity...name, zip, I hung up before I gave them any info and called PNC bank.  The DID verify this number is from the fraud dept. (I had spent alot of money the last few days and they were checking to see if it was fraud.)  I was legitimately from PNC.  Hope this helps someone...

Received a call from 800-225-5671. Since I seem to be on a hit list of unwanted calls, I hung up when it rang. Followed up with calling back. Automated system from PNC Bank. I called the 800 # on my debit card. Spoke to fraud control. The call was legitimate. Turns out my son's account was flagged for possible fraud. Kudos to PNC for double checking accounts.
Why others on here are stating the call is   fraudulant,  is beyond me. I believe if PNC is calling, there should be a person on the line, not an automated computer.  I was suspicious and called PNC direct. The number is legitimate but would suggest you call PNC directly and ask for the fraud dept.

Not sure if this was PNC or not. That is why I looked it up online. They stated they wanted to check on suspicious activity with my debit card then asked for the last 4 digits of my card. That is when I hung up and looked this number up.

If they are asking YOU for the card digits, then it is a fraud.  If they were legitimate, they would quote you the card number and already have your information on file.

This number IS A SCAM. I just called the main PNC number to verify, I never call back random numbers. The girl stated my account was fine. I gave her the above number and she said that no where is it affiliated with PNC. DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER BACK OR GIVE INFO!! Only call the main number on your card or the real website.

PNC told me that this is a known scam number and to NOT answer when they call or to call them back and always return a call with the number on the back of the card.

Be wary if you see this number on the your phone and do NOT answer or give them any information about you at all!

Always call the number on the back of your card, do NOT speak to these people!

I got the same call...stating that they were PNC and were checking on fraudulent purchases.  I did NOT call the number back but contacted PNC at the 1-888-PNC-BANK number and asked for the fraud department.  It was legit.  They said there were a lot of fraudulent bank card purchases in my area and they were just checking up on mine.  For some reason it still feels "off" to me but I went through the proper channels and all of the annoying PNC menus and they said it was real.

It was real. PNC was trying to verify that an abnormally large transaction was legitimate. Call the number on your card to verify. I figured it was a scam too.

This is a legit call from the fraud protection company that handles pnc customers. It is an automated call that requests the last 4 digits of your card, then your verifying zip code. It then proceeds to stat who you are, and asks specifically is the last 3 purchases are yours. e.g. "a purchase in the amount of $189.71 was made on date at a home hardware center. press 1 if the purchase was made by you or an authorized person by you". Once you have verified the purchases are correct, the automated call direct you to the pnc hotline for any further questions. If there has been fraud, they connect you to someone who handles the fraud report & shut down of the account.
