I received a call twice from this marketing number, then Googled the number. Called them to get these annoying phone calls to stop. I was told it's a marketing call & that I would have to call the department of corrections to see if they couldn't do anything.
Part of me thinks I need to change my phone number. I know that's extreme but it's very easy.

They didn't give me an option to make it stop.

I will not answer a phone call from unknown numbers for the android smart phone users if you are utilizing your call blocker app(included with some models,,,can be downloaded from the play store) enter this number on your black list and yes report to the do not call registry   dumb phone users just don't answer the call from this number remember report it hope this helps out

Pretty sure that 800-483-8314 is the number that calls when an inmate calls collect, and a 713 number is when an inmate calls prepaid, meaning it's a free call.  I don't know why you wouldn't accept a free call????  If somone's using their VERY LIMITED resources imprisoned to call YOU Of all people, (locals calls cost a dollar somethin, but long distance is about 5 dollars, and LD is out of county, NOT AREA CODE!!!) WHY WOULDN"T You ANSWER? :) Don't getme wrong, I've not picked up before, but the 2 friend in jail that I support aren't going anywhere any time soon (so they're not gonna see this to b pissed off either) lol

I received a call saying I didn't have enough prepaid minutes from: 7135686986. About 10 minutes after that call I missed a call from 8004838314. Called them back and they said it was for a jail/ training facility. I said don't call me again. Roger said, in order to do that I have to come up with a 4 digit passcode so I made one up and he said it was done.

If someone calls you, that most likely mean a loved one or someone you know has been arrested and is trying to reach you.

I have received this call from person who calls himself "Jason" from an Idaho prison facility.  I do not know anyone directly in prison.    There is also a number from the same prison facility that states the call to me is free, I just have to agree to receive the call.  How do I stop these calls?

Same as others have mentioned---regarding carrier billing. I did not answer but they left a VM asking you to press buttons. Very nefarious.

WELLLLLL, when it calls, it does say.. TO BLOCK all inmate calls press...... maybe if you would take a minute to listen. Obviously someone had your number before and someone in prison has it as a contact and is trying to reach someone. Since you evidently do not know someone in jail or prison, do not accept and simply listen to the message and press the number button that says.. Block ALL inmate calls.
Its quite simple. AND NO i do not work for them, just had a husband arrested for something stupid and am aaware of the system.

If you have an I Phone you can block this number.  Problem solved !!!!!

They DO NOT get random details. Whether you realize it or not, it really is most likely that someone you know ended up in jail and is trying to reach you. In order for your number to get called an inmate has to put your number on their call list, and they put numbers they know by heart because they usually aren't able to gather info from their cell phones any old time they want. They usually call numbers they know because they're needing some help with something like: they're car got impounded and want someone to help them get it out so fees don't keep accruing, or because they have a boss who needs to know they're in jail so they don't lose their job, or they're being released and need someone to come get them. There's a number of reasons someone from jail is calling you and they really are trying to contact someone they know, the calls usually cost THEM money. In order to gind out who's calling you that you may know, and from where, contact GlobalTelLink or look at inmate roster at the specific facility that's calling you.

I have been called. From this number twice on Thursday feb. 27th 2014.  Once in the afternoon and once in the evening or night.  Both times I didn't hear and had missed call on my smartphone.  Then I called the number back afterward and couldn't understand the automate system due to not hearing it well.  I hung up thinking it was a scam.  Now I googled the number and people are posting to report it.  I hope nothing comes of it.

We just changed our number the other day and we've been getting calls from this 800 number.  Yes it is a prison inmate trying to call.  They don't know that the number was given to us.  Thanks to previous posters, I contacted global tel link and they offered to block my number.  They said that it takes up to 24 hrs to block my number from all prisons that use the global tel link system.

This is the best remedy that I can come up with.  Most times when you receive a call from an unknown number, perhaps it might be a tele marketing machine.  Listen to the choices; you may hear an option to press 7 to opt-out as an example.  Try to be pro-active and not allow emotions to overcome you.
