Put 1800 483- 8314 on auto reject list so they can't call my phone anymore.

This was something to do with free call from jail inmate.  I don't know anyone who would be calling me from jail.

Global Tel Link isn't a scam. It's merely a service inmate use to be able to make phone calls. The inmate clearly called your cell and your house number because the inmate is someone who knows you. If you actually listen to the recording at the end of it you can block calls from all inmates.

This is the second call I have received, two different numbers from prisons. I am on the Do Not Call List and cannot figure why I am getting these phone calls. Thank you for posting the reply of not calling them back. Anyone receiving calls from 800-483 8314 or 717 850 4404 report immediately as they are calls from prisons asking you to accept collect phone calls.

I got a call from 937-263-6827 at 6:48pm.  It was a recording that said: You are receiving a collect call from inmate: Terrel Whatley, at Day-Mont Behavioral Health Care. Your service provider does not allow you to accept collect calls...."  At that point I hung up.  I don't know a Terrel Whatley and Day-mont is the halfway house prison here in my city.

On the same day at 8:08pm I got a call from 800-483-8314.  I didn't answer, but came to this website instead to see who it was.  From what I can gather this organized crime ring calls you from a local number, then if your number is "live" they start calling you from the 800 number. I have blocked both numbers.  Thanks iphone upgrade!

My husband just got this call on cell phone.  DO NOT ANSWER PERIOD! DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER HE GAVE OUT! CALL YOUR CELL CO. AND ASK THEM HOW TO DOWN LOAD AN APP TO BLOCK ANY NUMBERS YOU WANT.  WE WILL BE DOING THIS TOMORROW. IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE AND ANSWER ANY CALLS, NEVER PRESS ANY NUMBER, THEM THEY KNOW THIS IS A LIVE PHONE. THIS GOES FOR ANY JUNK CALLERS ESPECIALLY BANK CARD SERVICE.  THEY HAVE OVER 100 NUMBERS.

The calls started yesterday morning 9am, noon, 8pm.  Got me all worried.  I listened to the voicemail they left and immediately suspected something fishy.  I have had someone legitimately call me from jail and the name of the person is announced and you have a choice on whether to accept the collect call.  Please find these germs and get them off the radar!

Most of you have no clue! It doesn't matter if you are on a DNC list! The calls are from inmates, most likely that you know, or the inmate dialed the wrong number. Some of you say do not accept unless you are expecting the call? So, a person is supposed to know before they get arrested to inform you? Seriously? I got a call today from the Hamilton County Ohio dentention center, but since My cell is not set up to receive collect calls, and now Verizon will not allow collect calls to go through due to scams, well I couldn't accept anyway if I wanted to. So I looked online and figured it out who it was, and I did know the person. But then an hour later I get this call from the 1-800 number, I didn't pick up, but went online to figure out who it was. So, the person I know, and ones you all know, are attempting to call you from jail or prison, as in my case, it was someone who I knew who was just arrested earlier today. So how are you supposed to be expecting a call like this as some of you say don't pick up unless you are expecting the call? You can always call this company if the recording doesn't tell you what institution it is and find out. Then call that jail or prison and ask them to help figure out who it is calling, you will be surprised that it is someone that you know. But again, it could simply be an inmate who dialed the wrong number. Your DNC listing does not apply to this type of call, same with political calls, they are exempt.m

Agreed! But you know how people are, they don't want to listen and they attempt to assume things. Listen to the entire call, and find out the name of the inmate, if you know the name or think that you may know them, either accept the call or call the jail or prison and ask a couple of simple questions. But as I just said on my other post, companies such as Verizon will not allow you to accept collect calls anymore due to scams from out of the country, but this is not a scam!
