I have received calls from this company asking for the people that had my phone number before me and I have been told that my number would be removed from their contact list.  I don't know how long it takes for them to get the idea that the people they want no longer has my number.

Also, they will not tell me the company name they are calling from.

I have received dozens of calls (4 today) for 6 weeks from Bank of America. They are trying to reach my ex-husband regarding his and his wife's delinquent mortgage payment. I have called 7 times, written, and told everyone who calls me that I HAVE NEVER BEEN ON HIS MORTGAGE! I don't even live in the same state. They purchased the house years after we divorced. Everyone from BoA assures me that my number will be removed from their database...then they call again. Today I filed complaints with the FTC and the Illinois Attorney General's office.

The calls I am receiving from that number are from Bank of America regarding my ex-husband's mortgage. I was never on the loan and I live in an entirely different state. I filed complaints with my state attorney general and with the FTC (easy to do online). It is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to contact third parties more than once and violators face a $1000 per occurrence fine.

Maybe this information will help someone save an ENTIRE DAY trying to get their name/number off the dreaded BoA badger list. If you are receiving erroneous collection calls on a mortgage you don't have, CALL 1 (800) 669-6607, NOT the number they call from. That number just routes you to clueless collectors in call centers all over the world who will promise you're off the list. When you call, if you don't have a loan or the ssn# of the unknown borrower, mumble audibly but unintelligibly during the automated prompts and be patient...they'll try over and over, but eventually you'll get a representative. If you say "no" or say nothing, Computer Cathy will tell you to call back when you have the information. Gibberish confuses her. Ask the representative to send your information to their main solicitation or contact group - called the CAMPAIGN Department. That should "stop the majority of calls immediately." I was told all calls would cease by the end of the month, and today is the 12th. Write down who you spoke to, when, and what they promised. If they don't deliver, call the corporate number 1 (704) 386-5681 and they will elevate your complaint to ... the queen, I guess? I was very polite but I did mention that I filed complaints with the Attorney Generals' offices in IL (my home state) and NC (their home state) and with the FCC, which I did. We'll see what happens....

These jerks are calling our phone 3, 4 and 5 times a day. We have no mortgage. We own our home.  THIS IS BOGUS.

I can't even block the number through qwest.  This is harassment.   You can't talk to a human to say that there is no one even at this number with a mortgage.  We have no other debts.

    STOP CALLING

Someone I know keeps getting these exact same calls again and again and she has ABSOLUTELY NO LOANS OR UNPAID MORTGAGES!! According to stipulated tenets of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm , even if she DID have a loan or unpaid mortgage, she is fully legally allowed to request WRITTEN documentation and correspondence concerning such a loan or mortgage sent directly to her address, and BofA/Countrywide Loans MUST LEGALLY COMPLY with her request. Should it or its connected affiliates somehow refuse to comply with such a request, and maintain its steady stream of phonecalls instead, then BofA/Countrywide Loans could very well subject itself to actual prosecution proceedings from the Federal Trade Commission.

Be advised of this, BofA/Countrywide Loans or representatives!!

Ditto to all the bull reported in previous messages. I get multiple calls a day and can't seem to get out of their call list since I don't have an account with them, yet they keep calling. This is a clear indication of bureaucratism being dominant with Country Wide. What's frustrating is that they burn through my cell minutes, these [***] don't event acknowledge responsibility for their antisocial inconsiderate behavior. One should not feel the least bit guilty for actually answering and being extremely rude and aggressive with them.

You are correct this is a scam and the way to talk to someone is to enter a bogus loan number and keep entering that number than you are transfered to live person who seems to be in an India call center.  I have not have a Countrywide loan in years and pay my loan monthly via BILL PAY.  When I spoke to the live person I simply told them I am on the "Do Not Call List" and that it is illegal to call my home and to cease immediately.

This company calls, and the caller does not identify himself/herself, requests information about family members.  I reported the number to the Federal Trade Commission and the Bureau of Consumer Protection in my state.

Got a call from this number at my work phone 20 minutes ago.  Digital voice "please hold"... connects to a call center (obvious)... guy asks for me, but butchers my name.... I said it's me, can I help you... he said "I need the last four digits of your social security number to verify your identity".... I told him that he called me, and I wasn't giving him anything.... he said he had to verify it was me... I reminded him that I didn't know who HE was... he said he was from Bank of America calling about a mortgage... I asked him if there was a problem... he asks me to call him back.  I told him I'd call the Bank of America number that I have and call him back.

Walked to the bank branch across the street to ask them and the young kid there laughed at the idea that it could have been them.

I get phone calls from this number asking for my ex husband who I've been divorced from for almost 15 years, haven't seen him in about 10 and don't even have the same last name as I am remarried.  Found out that his house was foreclosed on so I just assume they're trying everything to find him.  Don't ask me where he's at because I don't care.

This number has called me 10 times in the last 24 hours.  Even when I answer it, there is no way to speak to a person without giving my SS# or Bank of America account number.  I don't have any accounts with BOA and just want them to stop calling!!!!!!!!!!!

    ATTENTION ALL:

I filed a complaint with the FCC regarding this number as DoNotCall was absolutely NO HELP WHATSOEVER!  I finally got a response since this number leaves a recorded message from Bank of America, which I have no accounts/loans with.  A woman named Cathy Luvmore (last name barely audible on the answering machine so this is as close as I can spell her last name) said she got a copy of my complaint from the FCC.  She is with Bank of America.  She stated she is removing my name and number from their calling list.  Her phone is 214-716-4654.  I will see if this has any positive results.  Also, if you have VerizonFios phone service, your phone includes a feature that allows you to block up to 15 phone numbers.  This has been the only successful remedy to the non-stop calls!  You can go online and put in the number.  You will also be able to see the number of times 8006690102 calls but is blocked from ringing your phone!    This post is October 25, 2010.

Grrr - constantly calling for my wife to talk about the mortgage she has with BoA. Dummies. They wouldn't talk to me.

As much trouble BoA is with all the foreclosures they are going to have to give up on, you'd think they would be interested in cutting costs - maybe if they put the harassers on the street they could save a nickel or two?

These people calling are claiming that they are from Bank of America's Mortgage Retention Department - THIS IS A LIE!!!!!  They are trying to steal your Social Security Number, your bank account number, will ask you to transfer funds.

They will steal your identity and your funds - report them to your bank immediately and also call your cell provider to ask them to block this number!!!!!!!
