I received a call from the Law office of Thomas Landis, his assistant Kim Jones told me that they were trying to collect a debt 1991. After I informed her that it was illegal to collect a debt from that far back, she assured me that it could be opened back up at anytime. I was very cautious about giving information after she immediately wanted me to make a deal. Thank you for this web page. I will file a complaint immediately.

This place has called me numerous times over the last few months about a Chase bill that I have, finally I was able to get ahold of them they said that they can settle my 3k bill for 2k if I paid it now, told them there is no way I could come up with 2k dollar at the moment but more than willing to make a payment plan to settle my debt.

Said its ridiculous that I do not have 2k and that I need to refinance my house and my wife needs to get a job. So before I set up a tentative check to pay it off at the end of March, March 30 i called them to stop the check as I would not be able to come up with that money in one day, they took it out anyways after they guaranteed me they wouldn't. Since I have hired a lawyer and will be taking this issue to the next level.

yea i would like to thank everyone and there inputs because i received a call as well and I was aware I did owe a certain amount to a creditor and I agreed to take the settlement offer but never sent it because they wanted me to mail a check I asked well can you do ACH they stated no to send the check I found that very wierd for the fact that all companies who collect debt do ACH maybe I was wrong in thinking this but it made me hesitant enough, or maybe its the fact if they did ACH and they are illegitamate that would include another charge being wire fraud. Either way I ended up searching for the company online to see how legitamate they were and found this lovely place. I have found some helpful information which I plan on pursuing. They should be tried for all this crap they pull but of course our Justice system does very little to provide justice to those hard working individuals in this world...Well for now I will contact mey creditor directly and find who bought the debt or if they want to settle.

Got a call from this number, in the message (which she used my ex husbands name) used my nikname, rather than the legal name I use on everything, stated that they had a decision on my behalf.  when I called the 800-853-4000 with the extention of 103 it put me through to a voice mail of Micheal keys.
since my ex husbands name was also mentioned, I thought maybe it was a family law attorney, after being unable to locate anything online, my friend came across this site... its nice to have this information when they do call me back.

We received a call today from LaTonya Black, indicating she needs to make a "very important decision on our behalf" and that she is calling from office of Thomas Landis.  Her voice was hurried and insistent. She said to return the call right away to 800-853-4000.  I called the 215-642-3400 number that was on the caller ID, and the person answering identified it as law office of Thomas Landis.
A couple of years ago a similar sounding call was received by us - urgent to call a law office - - and a very rude outfit tried to get us to settle a debt for a furniture company that we had an account from, but no outstanding balance.  It took numerous calls and dealing with their abrasive manner to get them to realize that they had mistaken someone elses account for ours.  Never an apology of course - rude from beginning to end.
So, I am thinking after reading these posts, this may be same situation.  We have absolutely stellar credit - it was just reviewed when we purchased a vacation home, and were advised we have top credit.  So, I believe the Landis operation seeks out people who have had credit issues in their distant past - so that the recipient of their calls thinks "well maybe there is a debt I didn't take care of".  Our first line of defense this time is to ignore the message.  If calls persist, I will follow advice from another call recipient about the registered letter to the outfit identifying what they are doing is contrary to Fair Credit practices.  Seriously, how do these people sleep at night - - and are their children proud of them?

I received a letter from the Law office of Thomas Landis yesterday I faxed them a SOL(Staute of Limitations)letter and call them today and the guy that I spoke to acted as if he didnt know what was going on. He said he got my fax regarding the SOL he kept asking me what would I like for him to do and if I wanted to pay I stated, "For what and start the process with this credit card all over again". I dont think so I told him that the Mastercard was back in 2001 and there is a Statue of Limitations on Florida of 4 years if it was a verbal contract and 5 years for a written, so try this scam with someone else buddy. This office is also called APM Financial in my research if you call the 800 853 4000 they are recording you so be careful what you say, also go to budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages and read all about this office. I hope this helps.

    Innocent bystander
A Ms. Kennedy from the law office of Attorney Thomas Landis called from 215-642-3400 on April 29th at 7:28 p.m. regarding file #756281 and to call 800-853-4000 ext. 111. I returned the call from work the next morning and was told I had a very serious complaint filed against me. The social security number given did not match mine. The address did not match mine. The birthdate did not match mine. They refused to give any details to me of the complaint. I said I live in Ohio and have only been to Pennsylvania on vacation to Hershey several years ago. They sounded accusatory as if I was lying to them and eventually they hung up on me.

Thanks for this website. The link given in the third comment from the top is very informative and SCARY!!

Wow.  I got a call from this place saying that I had a debt from Discover from 9 years ago.  It was charged off in 2002, but my huband and I thought this MIGHT be legit, so we decided to pay the debt.  HOWEVER...they took 2 credit card numbers from us.  First they took his Discover number, expiration date and all.  Then right after that, the guy told him that he couldn't use the Discover card to run it through.  So, my husband gave him our Visa.  Well, that weekend, 2 dinners were charged to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for $250 each....so a total of $500 in two days!  THEN, two days later, Visa called us and asked us if we were trying to charge things to ORBITZ.com (which we weren't)!  So, either the company is bull or they just have some VERY CROOKED people working there.  SO BEWARE!!  I would be VERY hesitant to give them ANY credit card information!!!

I called, they only told me that I made a payment on it in 2002. confused! Collection agency wants collect but no other info! later received "2nd" letter from Law Office of Thomas Landis. I called, spoke to John Billup (real name?) He started screaming at me, tried to intimidate me, threatening me when I told him I was not going to pay for a bill that was not mine. He said he could Put in an "order" immediately and attach my wages. A bogus collection. Thankful for internet! Gd to know not alone!

I received a call from this number 800.853.4000 and the caller ID number was 215.642.3400  This was on my voice mail.  I was told when I called back to ask for Ext. 116 and ask for "Gene Michaels."  He also mention the case file #984618.

I decided to look up this number before I called back.  I cannot believe what I have read, but it does make sense to me now.  I don't know anyone in Pennsylvania and except for the house we have no debt.  We are retired and rarely use the credit card.

I am furious that these people are allowed to continue to rip people off.

Thank all of you for posting.

Yea, both Paul Kenwood and Eric Morales have called my wife and threatened her the very same way everyone else here has described. I am taking legal action against them and Thomas Landis Esq. for harassment and threats of many kinds. Let's join together, all of us, to stand against this cruel law office in Pennsylvania and lets get them behind bars because they are terrorists using scare tactics.

Got a call from Patricia Walsley at the law offices of Thomas Landis, referencing case #988632. She called 215-642-3400. She said it was imperative that I return her call, so I left her a voicemail message. I thought the whole thing sounded bogus, so I looked on the internet and viola! Here on this site whocallsme.com is a laundry list of other people who have been bothered by these a**holes. My gratitude is huge that this website exists! Cheers from Denver!

I received a message to call Atty Michael Goldberg back at 1-800-853-400 and he left a case# to reference when I called back.  They asked for my husband and I. They have called us before but not for anything of ours by my mother, and what they are trying to collect from her is over 15 yrs old!  We have excellent credit so I know that is has nothing to do with us.  I will not be calling them back and appreciate this site for helping me to know who it is that is calling.
