fradulent call, hang up and don't give them any info

The first time I received a call from this number was at 11:01 AM on 11/24. The call went to voice mail and no message was left. I received another call from this number at 9:44 AM on 11/30. When it went to voice mail it was a recording left for someone I have never heard of before (Lewis Freeman). The message stated that the message should be listened to in private as it was a private matter regarding a debt. I have had this number over 5 years and have just started receiving calls from 800-853-4000.

I have been getting recording for someone other than me for the last 4 weeks. I have a no call # this company is in violation of the law. When I finally called them to remove it they said I was rude and hung up.

voicemail from a Calvin Williams, said he was an associate of attorney Thomas Landis.  Call back at 1-800-853-4000, direct ext 156.  Wouldn't say what it was about, just an important matter

Got a message on VM a few days ago saying call 800-853-4000 but came from 215-642-3400.  Got another message today saying call and it's a law office.  After seeing all these posts, I called.  Talked with "Gene Michaels" who tried to be nice and inform me of a debt that was sent to his office because I "haven't met your obligation on this item and I'm here to help you get this resolved".  I asked whom it was with and then he asked whether I wanted to make full settlement out of court now or make arrangements.  I said, "no"  he said, what?? I said, "NO".  He said, well why not?  I informed him that not only had I tried to resolve this before, but that this is way past the statute of limitations and he stated that it was not in my state.  I advised him that first of all, it was incurred in another state and regardless, it's still way past, which he replied that I was wrong.  So I inquired on the statute to which he told me 4 years in my state.  I reiterated that he's WAY past that but he states that since it shows charge-off in 2007, they can collect until 2011.  I informed him that I'd be happy to reference my FDCPA manual that I have and we could see who is actually correct.  He said, "I've tried to be nice to you and settle this and you are refusing so I'm going to speak to my lawyer and tell him you flat out refused, which IS recorded on this line, and we'll see you in court because we'll prosecute you to the fullest extent and WE CAN!" and he hung up on me.  I called back and asked to speak with him and the front desk person said, "He said there is no further business with you".  I asked for her fax number and she hesitated.  I said, "why do you hesitate?? What are you all hiding?"  She said, "there is nothing to hide" and gave me a fax number.  I said, well inform Mr. Michael's that he'll have my cease and desist letter as well as a copy of my letter to the PA Attorney General and the FTC.  She said, "yeah sure" and hung up.

Also on above - Mr. Michaels said, "I know you THINK you know what you are talking about, but we are a law office and you DON'T!"  What law office talks to people like that?

OK - so I called back and asked for a mailing address and was transferred twice, got some lady who said, "why do you need an address?"  I said I needed to mail something to Mr. Michael's.  So she transferred me to him and he said, "Now what?"  I said I would like a mailing address and he said, "for WHAT?"  I said, "to MAIL you something!"  He said, "unless it's money, you don't need to send anything"  I said, "well give me the address and I will"  He said, "you were very abrasive on the phone trying to hide behind some statute that you think will protect you but IT WON'T and I'm trying to help you but you are trying to get out of your obligation!"  I interrupted and said I was never abrasive or rude and was only stating a fact and could he kindly give me an address.  He said, "NO, I don't have time for your games, have a good day", and then hung up.

So, since I love a challenge, I called again and asked for the mailing address and this time got transferred to that lady again who asked if she could help, I advised her I was still trying to get an address and she said, "yeah" and hung up!

Next is filing to the attorney general as mentioned above.

Received a call from "Levi" today from this firm. When call was returned, was intimidated and asked for information. Did not give any info. They were rude, refused to give their information regarding call & why they were calling. Was told by them, if they called, I was in very serious trouble and if I took it lightly, they wouldn't be so nice to me the next time they called.

got a call from this number ... says they are landis law firm.. trying to collect money from a debt from 2003.. be aware.. do not give them any info..

I too just received a call from this number and was told I had a $14,527 credit card debt and that i needed to pay.  When I informed the very rude gentleman that I have never had a credit card with a credit limit of that amount, he proceeded to say if I was disputing this debt.  When I told him yes I was, he said that once he filed the dispute would I have the funds to pay.  This gentleman was unable to validate the so called charges and became very rude and mean.

after being transferred 3 times, each time telling them NO ONE of that name lived at this residence.

A phone call from Atty T Landis 215-642-3400 showed up on my caller id yesterday, and I had planned to call today to ask why I was being contacted.  I decided to look it up on the internet first, and I'm glad I did!  I appreciate all your posts to warn me about this bogus attorney.  I have enough going on in my life right now...definitely don't need the stress that could have potentially been caused by a phone call to/from them.

I also received a letter.When returning a call to the 800 # and leaving a voice mail telling them we are in debt relief and just received a letter informing us the Debt Relief company we are with has filed bankruptcy in the state of Texas, I have not heard a word back from them.  I am glad I decided to look this firm up on the internet.  I am not worried in the least that they can do anything to my family.  I also plan to contact the attprney general's office to see what more I can do.  Thanks to all who took the time to express their problems with this lawyer's office.

Yeah these f*ckers called me too. I didn't care to catch his name. But yeah they are giving me some [***] about an auto loan that was paid in full in 1995, had title in hand. I traded the P>O>S> Chrysler in the same yr. And even if it wasn't paid in full(but it was) it's well beyond the statute of limitations. So whatever; I told those f*ckers at The LAW OFFICES OF THOMAS LANDIS or DERS , or whatever! 3325 Street Rd (yeah right) STE 220, BenSalem,PA 10920.  I told him to take me off the call list and they probably won't, but they ought too cause they are not getting one red cent from me and they are wasting their (criminal ass) time even calling me. Dude I got caller ID on my pocket watch, so whatever!.

OK got a call from this number...ON BEHALF of someone I do not know or ever heard of. WHY is this person calling my relatives, does he not have the balls to speak to me personally?  For the record I do not know who he is referring to as far as debt but I can assure you it is not my mother!!!!

215 642 3400....this so-called attorney needs to get a life. They keep calling me about an old debt. I also came across some info on the web that this attorney was brought up on child porn charges. What does that tell you?

Someone from this number called my sister's cell phone and said they were trying to get ahold of me.  They left a message saying they were going to make a legal decision without input from me if I did not call them back.  The person calling from 800-853-4000 x173 said they were from the Law Office Thomas Landis - no clue what this is about!

these people are calling me now4.28.10 and said i had 14 year old debt it was for$210.00 and the want 10,274.74 and the prob would go away. they were very rude i'm glad to see this web. todd pissed in tx.

These people will harass the pants off of you and yes they are extremely rude. I never received a letter from them about the debt they call me about. The first time they called me at work I told them that I can't accept calls at work. Once I said this the man on the other end (Mr. Nixon) started to berate me and call me names so I hung up on him. He called right back and I let it go to vm. He said on the message that I better not make him contact my HR manager which is against the law to even say that and since this first call they have called my workplace 5 times. On one occasion trying to get information from my HR manager. I will be filing a complaint with the attorney general's office here in PA and I'm also considering suing them for their harrassment and violations of federal law. I found info where a West Virginia couple sued them and won in 2008.
