- CarlyI, too, have been receiving these calls from the above number. They've been addressed to my maiden name which I haven't used in a loooong time. However, I did have an old credit card in this name which I had to let go to collection about ten years ago and I guess they've picked up that old debt and are trying to collect. I know in California the statute has long since run out. Plus, we settled with the card company and they accepted a reduced amount as payment. It was charged off on my credit report as isn't even listed any more.
- STEVE| 1 replyI received a call from attorney Tom Landis today regarding my delinquent debt. I spoke to a very nice gentleman who helped work out paying my account off. The way I see it is that most of these people who are complaining about this law office are scammers and trying to avoid not paying their debts. They should be thrown in jail and the key thrown away. These people are the reason why the credit card companies charge so much interest and aren't easy to work with... Thanks Tom Landis for helping me out!

- PamWow. I got a call from this place saying that I owed a debt from 1997. I thought it MIGHT be legit, so I decided to pay the debt. HOWEVER...Ms. Black took a check # from me to pay the initial payment. She told me that I shoud try and get a loan to pay the rest. I told her that I would try. She told me that she would not take any more funds until she heard from me. Well, a family member passed away and I had to go out of state only to return to an empty checking account. When I called them to get my money back, they were rude and told me that this wouldn't have happened if I would have paid my bills. I looked at my 3 credit reports and it's not even listed.(A little to late).
I have filed a compaint with the PA Attorney General's office and will probably contact a lawyer.
I wish I would have found this site earlier.
DO NOT GIVE MONEY, CREDIT CARD OR BANKING ACCOUNT INFO TO THESE PEOPLE.- Caller: Thomas Landis, Esq
- GLAD4THENETI got a call from Scott Summers. He said he is a lawyer and I have to call today because he is going to make a decision. He gave me the number 800-853-4000 x 153
On my caller ID it was 215-642-3400.
I think this is related to a call I got from a shipping company to set up a delivery. They confirmed my address and set up a delivery time. To date nothing has ever been delivered.
Glad there is the internet to check out things like this! - AngieI got a call from this number too. The man said he is calling for Attorney Thomas Landers. When I looked up this number here it is from attorney Donald Burak. I am not the person they are looking for and I refuse to answer these harrassing calls.

- KimI pulled my credit report and noticed that I failed to pay something so, I called the company they then told me it was handled by these people The Law offices of Thomas Landis 1-800-853-4000 so, I called and talked to Juan Perez I asked him for a settlement offer which he gave me, so I gave him all my bank info. which he asked me 3 times to repeat my account number that was on a Thursday, he asked me for a phone number I said no, I didn't think he needed that. Juan then stated in case there is a problem, so I gave it to him which was my job number. We then went on vacation and he called everyday twice a day for an entire week for his error, he wrote down the wrong account number, so he could not process my payment. Then he was calling my job leaving 2 messages a day, and I was gone until yesterday. To make a long story short, he failed to hang up the phone and on my Company's voice mail he states, THIS [***] IS NEVER GOING TO PAY US!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am angry, but thank god he did that on my Company phone, as it is recorded and our legal department is following up with all of the information that was obtained. To think I called them originally to pay my debt and was treated this way.

- Uncle EdwinDo a search of these idiots! They have many judgments against them. They're nothing but bottom feeders, the tilapia of Lawyers, They use scare tactics to frighten people into giving them information. They only want money and they don't care if they get it from the correct individual. And never give them any personal information. Just scum.

- LisaSteve, sweetie, who put in a comment on June 14th 2008, you are full of it. Sweetheart, Tom Landis doesn't actually call these people. It's people with last names like Billup or names that sound suspiciously like porn stars. Could it be that you did a search on the company you work for and found this site full of "mean people refusing to pay their debts" and decided to put in a good word for the guy with all those lawsuits against him that's busy out playing golf? You stand out like a stream of bats' piss. I have a funny feeling most of the nice folks on this web site are being harassed by a fraudulent company posing as lawyers and legal assistants. I'm a legal assistant and I rarely announce to people I'm a legal assistant. I call and ask for whatever I called for and make sure I tell them the lawyers office I work in. I don't scream or threaten people when I need medical records for instance. This "law office" ha ha is a collection agency and they hire a lawyer that couldn't make in the state office or in the private sector and they offer him a salary to have staff sit around and make collection calls. They use his name because it frightens people to recieve a letter from a lawyer (no matter how crooked) rather than an obvious collection agency. They bank on the fact that someone will panic and give them information before they stop and think about the situation. Any one getting a call from these idiots stop and think about it before you even give them your correct name. And to answer a question I have no idea how they sleep at night.

- TimReceived a call from this company about a parent owning a debt. Asked first representative if they used a "relative" search to find my number. She lied. Second person said that he had used a "relative" search and still pressed for more information. Told them to remove my number from thier database.

- SteveLets see - three pages of negative comments - same names, numbers and tactics throughout vs. 2 seemingly thankful posts - hire more minions Landis, because you are getting out worked.
I received a call today with all the same things mentioned as everyone else - asking for information they didn't have so they could spin what they are trying to get. Didn't have my correct address, the account he was mentioning had long since been charged off and beyond statute of limitations - claimed he was from a law firm but did not speak like a lawyer. Refused to mail any documentation validating the debt, sighting timeliness of the "grace period" and the creditor will expect payment if he asks them to verify the debt. He refused, stating needed to send verification via fax...
Said he was going to report i was trying to commit fraud because i was refusing to pay and would turn over to an attorney to handle.
Caller IDwas the 215 PA number, but the call back number was an (800) # with a bunch of extensions - doesn't sound like a law office to me - especially when i asked to speak with a specific person and 3 others picked up before i got to the right person and he didn't even know who i was!!! - Mike in Florida"Mr Adam" from "Law offices of Thomas Landis" called my mom and upset her, saying that I was in big trouble and it was an emergency and I needed to call immediately.
Thank goodness for all you posters and this website. Now I know how to handle this guy, and I can re-assure my elderly mother (a very weak heart patient).- Caller: Law Offices of Thomas Landis
- AdamTHANKS SO MUCH for this site!!
All my debt is more then 7 years old so way past statutes of limitations.
guy was Mark Landers
Stay far away from this company - Nancy Van VoorhisA Howard Swan (garbled) left a message on my voicemail that it was urgent to call him at 1-800-853-4000 X133. I called that number and a very rude man told me that I had an unpaid credit card totaling $53,000. I told him he was crazy so he gave me to a Belinda Hall and she said she could help me. I explained that I don't owe this but she insisted that a Pennacle Collections was on my credit report and that they purchase my account from CitiBank to whom I paid in full. She also said I should tax my credit report to 1-215-642-3401, but that is never going to happen now that I have seen this website.
I plan to file a complaint with the AZ Attorney Generals Office.- Caller: 866-226-3745 Credit Inform
- Threatened with jail!I received a call from the 'Law office of Thomas Landis' several days ago about a debt that is out of SOL for over 4 years now, (10 yr old debt), it was a dispute to start with because I had paid this cc company for credit insurance, they pay if you get sick or hurt; anyways, they immediately told me I owed over 3400.00 and if I paid it immediately I would not be facing any jail time. Then the lady told me that I had to pay it today or nothing would be accepted, to go directly to a Western Union and send payment. I told her I did not know what she was talking about and that I did not appreciate the threats she was making. She quickly began reading what she called a 'dockett number' and I told her I was not intimidated to stop calling. She screamed, "Oh Goddam, here we go again!!!" I immediately hung up. They have called many, many times telling me that I am facing losing my property, facing jail time, fraud charges, etc. I got a letter today telling me that if I don't respond within 30 days, this means the debt is valid and they will put it on my credit report. I have my credit report from this year and it is was not on there in June. Can they keep doing this to me? Do I have to answer this letter and keep getting cursed by these people?

- TaxicammOMG...thank God I decided to Google "Law Offices of Thomas Landis"...I had a weird feeling when I checked my messages after a weekend away and had one from this office, supposedly Nia Weaver @ x182, even though it was quite late I called back and entered the ext, it rang a long time and the voicemail for that ext number was another lady w/ a different name (clue #1)...I'm sure I had the name and ext correct b/c I listened to the message 2x and the caller repeated it 2x. Anyhow, that got me thinking, I Googled, and here I am...I'm very thankful that I bothered to do this search. I thought it was odd that I was being contacted from a law office, using my old married name at that, but esp b/c I keep up with my credit bureau reports and have no outstanding accounts. I do believe they prey on those of us who once had a bumpy credit history and our fear that there may be something that we overlooked. Best resource is to be informed, if you know your 3 bureau reports, then no one can fool you about what's on them. Thanks to all previous posts!
