Today's update: this number is not a scam. I verified through the phone number on the back of my credit card. If you think it's a scam, don't call it for dog's sake! Always safe to call the number on the back of your card or on your bank statement. Geez, figure it out. Also, never give out your SS or credit card number. The bank can identify you through other means.

I got a call from a woman claiming to be with United Visa Fraud Prevention.  Here is my only comment: NEVER give ANY information to ANYONE who calls you or trust a phone number they give you to call back and give information to. THE ONLY SMART way to take care of this is to CALL THE NUMBER ON YOUR CREDIT CARD. PERIOD. It does not matter if this is REALLY Chase Bank or NOT.  Do NOT start the habit of giving information to someone that has called you. Just dont do it.  It is really easy to find legitimate numbers online for your Bank and call them directly to verify information/account details.

Who cares if this 800-955-9060 is real or not. I surely will not call it and give private information.  I will call the number on my card and take care of it my way.  If you don't do this EVERY time, you will be sorry.

This is a scam and the posts you see on here that claim different have hidden agendas for doing so. These people try to use psychology fear and even compassion to ferret out further information. In my case... I never had an account with Chase to begin with neither did I apply for a card. However, they claimed the only way that they could verify the letter I received claiming I had an account, was to render SS#. So I said I would render it. He offered information to prove his validity.
Of which I caught 3 discrepancies. Of which he apologized for and said he would have to alert his supervisor of immediately. LOL

First the phone # offered to me for a Experian is not the actual telephone number for Experian. This was verified by My Credit FRAUD monitoring service. The # 1800 955 9060 is not anywhere on the legitimate CHASE.COM sites. And after pointing this out to him, he in turn claimed it must have been in error. Also I blocked when calling them, however he claimed my phone number did not match into their system on a search. However asked me to fax or scan the fraudulent letter I received to him. LOL Why would I block my number then release it pending exposing impostors of phishing scams? LOGICAL?

So the numbers in question that were blown out of the water for inconsistencies are: 1800 955 9060, 866 396 8254, & 888 738 3115.
The last number listed is where I was routed to the third time for  the so called Internal Dept. Of which the individual claimed to be an employee of CHASE.

It gets better. He offered me advice to make a consumer complaint saying the number for Experian was 1800 311 4769. Not according to my sources. I am warning people on here to use discernment as much psychology, guile and deception is prevalent in these economic times and the false rebuttals on this page just verify the compliance of these evil entities in the destruction of your economy. Karma is as Karma does and Justice prevails.  This page is being used to access info that we know so they can use it to hide better.

After I got a voice message about my chase card (from fraud prevention department), I google the number immediately and found this website. Given most people here claimed that number is a scam, I decided to log in to my online account to see what's happening first. To my surprise, my credit card is no longer availabe in the online system! Then I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed the number, 1-800-955-9060 is a legitimate number of their fraud department. I was told the reason I didn't have access to my card online is because they have to put some kind of security hold on it before they talked to me. He went through 2 most recent transactions on the card with me and told me there was no longer any problem and I can still use my card. However, I have to wait for 3~5 business days until the security hold on my online system is removed. Again, if you don't trust what I'm saying, call the number on the back of your card first.

This is legit! I agree it seems scammy, and I would NEVER call back a number or give info to someone who called me. Instead I called the number on my card—and was immediately transferred to the fraud department.

If you get any messages like this, just call the number on your card. This particular number is actually from Chase, though.

I received a phone call this morning from 847-488-6000. Since I didn't recognize that number, I didn't answer. The caller then left me a message, saying there was some suspicious activity on my Chase visa card and asked me to call back at 800-955-9060. I immediately checked my account online, which was already put on hold and I could not see all the transactions, etc. I did return the call, but instead, I called the 800 number on the back of my visa card. After I entered the last four digits of my visa card, I was automatically transferred to the fraud department. I then spoke with a lady at the Fraud Department, and she asked for my full name, last four digits of SSN, DOB, and then my full SSN. She then asked me if I shared the account with a relative, and I said no. She put me on hold for about one minute and then asked me if I had made a transaction on a certain day with a certain amount of dollars. I said yes, that was me. Ok, that's it. It seems that she does know the lady who left me the message. She said that Chase was trying to prevent fraud and would notify me of any suspicious activity. My online account would be put on hold for another 3 to 5 business days, but I can still use my card. So from my experience, the 800-955-9060 number is legitimate, but always be cautious and communicate with them using the customer service number on the back of your card.

PEOPLE.. THIS IS NOT A SCAM..  I FIRST RECVD. A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER (224-222-5000) AND I WASN'T SURE WHO IT WAS SO I DIDN'T PICK UP.. THEY LEFT A MESSAGE STATING THEY WERE CHASE FRAUD DEPT. AND TO CALL THEM BACK AT 800-955-9060... I JUST CALLED THIS NUMBER BACK AND WAS SUSPICIOUS AND DIDN'T GIVE THEM ANY INFO.  I ASKED THEM WHO THEY WERE AND THEY SAID THEY WERE CHASE LOAN SERVICES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.  I TOLD THE REP. THAT I WASN'T COMFORTABLE GIVING HIM INFO BECAUSE THE MESSAGE I RECEIVED ABOUT CALLING THIS NUMBER BACK (800-955-9060), I WASN'T SURE IF IT WAS LEGIT OR NOT.  THE REP TOLD ME THAT IF I WASN'T COMFORTABLE THEN FOR ME TO JUST CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF MY CARD.  HE WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING.  SO I CALLED THE BACK OF MY CARD AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY TRANSFERRED TO THE FRAUD DEPT. AFTER SOME VERIFICATIONS, IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE WAS MAKING FRAUDULANT CHARGES ON MY CARD AFTER ALL.. THE SCAM IS THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MAKING THE CHARGES PEOPLE.. WHAT THEY DO IS THEY CHARGE YOUR CARD 1 DOLLAR FOR AN ONLINE PURCHASE(PROBABLY TO SOME MADE UP COMPANY OF THEIRS) AND PLACE AN AUTHORIZATION CHARGE ON YOUR ACCOUNT, THEN LATER THEY WILL CHARGE YOU MORE.. ALL THIS WAS DONE WHILE I WAS SLEEPING THIS MORNING.. PUNKS.. ANYWAYS.. CHASE CANCELED MY CARD AND WILL BE SENDING ME NEW ONES..  I LOVE CHASE.. THEY ARE THE BEST..

This is not a scam but I encourage anyone that is suspicious to call the number on the back of their credit card.  I got the call from them today and they asked for a lot of information - even the security code on the back of my card so I did not give it to them.  When i called the number on the back of my card they verified that I just talked to the other number and then they asked about recent activity that had raised a flag to their fraud alert services.  It's no big deal but just call the number on the back of your card.

This is NOT a scam. I thought it was after readint his site and called the number for fraud prevention on the chase site (and NOT the one they left on my voicemail). Chase did in fact think there was suspicious activity on my card. Thank goodness there was not.

Got a call from this number. Was suspicious, and called the # on the back of the card. Chase told me that this is a number from their Fraud Detection Services and they did call me. Someone somehow was using my card # in the UK and racked up $1000's of charges over the past 5 days, while the card has been in my pocket. This number is absolutely legit. Don't ignore the call, just call the # on the back of your card and have them check on it for you.

Just received a call with a messsage to call this number about an Amazon CC having "suspicious activity" We don't have caller ID so do not know what number originated the call.  Anytime someone receives a call of this nature concerning a credit card, do yourself a favor and only dial the number listed on the back of said credit card.  I was surprised that I could find no warnings on either the amazon nor the chase web sites mentioning this number.

I got a call from 800-955-9060 and was suspicious. So instead of ignoring it, I called the # on the back of my card and it turns out that they had called me and I did have fraudulent charges on my card. If you don't trust the number, that's fine. But don't just do nothing. Call the # on the back of your card and be sure!

I got a voice message on my home phone with caller ID showing number 224-222-5000. A lady asked me to call back 800-955-9060. When I login to my chase online account, one card disappeared. I didn't call this number instead I called the number on the back of my Chase card. It turned out there was a suspicious transaction two days ago.

I called the number on the back of my Chase Visa Card, instead of the number the original caller supplied, only to discover that there had been several transactions made on my account, that I had not made! Their canncelling these transactions and will be sending me confirmation documentation which I need to review, sign and return. They closed out my account and will be reissuing a new card with a new account number.

Just called number on back of Chase credit card rather than giving caller my card number.  Chase verified that 1 800 955-9060 is their fraud department. This isn't a scam.

My caller ID showed 800-280-0561. They left a message for me to call 800-955-9060. Voice attend identified the company as Chase Fraud Prevention and I talked to a rep who said my account had been flagged as having questionable transactions. Asked the usual security questions (Last 4 digits of the card, mother's maiden name, last four digits of my SS) and then asked me about the last several transactions: $9.95, $4.00, $9.99, $20.00. WHO FLAGS AN ACCOUNT FOR TRANSACTIONS UNDER $20!? It just sounded too weird. The rep says the account is just selected at random by the computer for a spot check. This made me nervous, even though the guy didn't ask for my full card number or my full social, the call was just strange enought to check it out. I called the number on the back of my Chase card, and it turns out there was record of the call and it was legit. Now if they could just lower the interest rates!

I got a text message while I was at work instructing me to call 800-955-9060 to verify recent activity.  Suspicious.  I looked up the number on Google and came to this page.  I got a mixed message, so I called the number on the back of my card when I got home.  Sure enough, the fraud department did want to talk to me.  I didn't ask them directly about the 955 number, though.
