Do not reply to this number! It is a SCAM!
They want to steal your credit card number!
If you are worried about charges, dial the number on the back of your credit card or use the Chase app to find out about charges.

I got a call from 800-935-9935 claiming they were the Chase Fraud department. I asked for a call back number so I could verify and they gave me 800-955-9060. I ignored this number they gave me and called the number on the back of my Chase card. The rep confirmed the fraud department did reach out to me about fraudulent charges. So it turns out the call was legit. However, always call the number on the back of your card to confirm (just in case)

As a follow up, I received a voice mail saying I had fraudulent charges and that I should call this number and provide my credit card number. When I have called Chase, they never ask for my credit card number.
I looked online and I had no fraudulent charges.

This is a NOT a fraud number. This is CHASE Fraud team's number.
They did not ask for my last 4# of SSN. They knew my address, and had verified all other transactions.

A voice mail message was left on my cell phone claiming to be from Chase fraud protection services about verifying a few suspicious account activities.  The 800-955-9060# was the number I was instructed to call with my credit card # on hand.  Interestingly, the caller mentioned my full name and the last 4 digits of the account that he was calling about, but this was not my account #.  This immediately made me suspicious.  Caller ID suggested the call originated from Texas: 972-512-5500.  I called the number on the back of my Chase card and found that although the 800 # is a legitimate INternal number that Chase uses, there were no suspicious activities on my account, and no notes attached to my account indicating anyone had attempted to call me from Chase.  Customer service then patched me through to the fraud protection department and they said the same.  They looked to see if my cell number was associated with any other accounts, and could find none.  Chase then instructed that I block the 972# in case they tried calling again.

My conclusion is that this is indeed a scam somehow.  I suspect there is a way to reroute calls that you dial from your cell phone at least temporarily, so even if the 800-955 # is legitimate, your call would be routed to a scammers number. I think it would be safest to call the number on the back of the card, and from a phone other than the one that received the initial call.

I missed this call and they left this number in a voice mail. I thought it was suspicious because when they called the number was blocked and when they read of the last 4 of the credit card number they read back the last 4 of my SSN. I called chase directly and there was fraudulent activity on my account. Just call the back of your card if your uncomfortable.

Within minutes of verifying my number with uber, I get a call saying there is suspicious activity on my card and I should call this number to get to the fraud dept. You call and it is a recording that sounds legit, asks for you to enter the last 4 of the acct # which is what usually shows up on receipts, no secret there. I entered in the 4 and it said this number is not recognized, please enter the whole account number (ha yeah right!) I hung up and googled it. Please people don't ever give your full credit card number or social security number.

The call looks like it's coming from a valid phone number but the number they ask you to call back is a fraudulent number.  You sir, have no clue.

I received a call from this number saying there was suspicious activity on my credit card and I should call them with the full credit card number.
This is so strange as I just applied for this card two days ago and have not even received the card yet to activate it.
Feels like a scam to me................................................

I also received a phone call from a "private number" that left a message saying there was suspicious activity on my account even though I had not received the cards yet. I was immediately suspicious. Turns out they called my parents house as well. I called Chase at 1800-432-3117 and got to a senior level person and they told me the account was flagged because I had applied for both of the Southwest cards. I confirmed that I had indeed applied for both cards and they confirmed the number was a real chase fraud line. I will certainly only call the number on the back of my card in the future and will monitor my activity very closely.

this number does belong to Chase Fraud Dept. . My credit card was being declined, so I called Chase Customer Service, the number on the back of the card. I verified the charges and decline taken off. I later received a letter with Chase Heading, same phone number calling about possible fraud charges. Again I called Chase Customer Service to check if letter was legitimate. It was, as was the phone #. However the customer service rep was able to check my account, did not have to call Fraud Dept. And yes, Fraud Dept., like Customer Service, will ask for your 16 digit account number.

This maybe a legitimate number. I got a voice message from 800-935-9935, asked me to call at 800-955-9060 about a fraud. I checked online https://www.chase.com/digital/resources/priva ... ty/report-fraud . found the caller number.

Anyway, I will call the number on my credit card, I did have a large purchase yesterday.

This is a LEGITIMATE Chase phone number that I called in response to a letter from Chase.  After my call, I followed-up with another call to the number on the back of the card and confirmed that my prior telephone call to Chase was on record and that they wanted to verify an actual charge which was specifically described to me.

NO! It is most definitely NOT a SCAM number. It is a legitimate number. Have you ever heard of spoofing? The bad guys can make their Caller ID come up with whatever number they want. What if they used YOUR personal phone number? Does that make your number a scam when you then call someone?

Chase will never ask for your complete Social Security number, or your complete card number with expiration and CVV. They already have that information. They may ask for the last 4 of your Social Security number or your mother's date of birth to verify you initially. They then might confirm your address by telling you what THEY have on file and ask you to confirm it. Most of the time when you get a call from them it is a robo-call asking you about suspicious charges, which they will enumerate in the message. You can either confirm or deny them -or- if you don't recognize them you will be transferred to a person. When that happened to me, they never asked me for any additional information since THEY had called me initially!

If the call doesn't proceed like I just listed above, then someone might be spoofing the number and they are the scam...NOT the legitimate Credit Fraud epartment at Chase!

"Try to be informed rather than give a knee-jerk reaction!"  Well I think you should be taking your own advice. For instance, you could start by actually reading that post, where you will find out that the post was made in 2007, which is very much evident by the date under the screen name. Now I find it a tad ridiculous that you would expect someone who posted here 11 years ago to see your reply.
Too make matters worse, you seem to have sunk your own argument that this is a real Chase number calling you since you claim that it is spoofed.
One other thing, that poster never mentioned Chase. He/she said that they claimed to be Visa, which could be issued by almost any bank or credit union in the country (and possibly in the world).
    P.S. Wasn't your post a "knee-jerk reaction"?
