- BDAI got a letter purportedly from Chase Bank giving this number for Fraud Operations. It looked legitimate at first. I called a number on the pamphlet enclosed and the real Fraud Department could find nothing on their computer. I do not have an account with Chase but have recently had some ID theft problems. They probably knew I was having problems because they caused them.
- Jon DoeCome on!!! Rather than debate the validity of the number, hasn't anyone considered the thought that it's a legit phione number, AND that some scammers may have gotten access to it whereby posing as rep from Chase? It would be very easy to do.
I'm probably one of the most cautious and vigilant people on the face of the earth. So when I got that phone call, I DI NOT call that number back but instead called the number on my card and bill, to speak with someone. They verified that they had tried to call to inquire about some possible fraudulent activity on my card. They listed the few attempted transaction in question, which all checked out with me. I had travel plans overseas and right away, that sent up a red flag with some card companies. If I didn't OK the charges, they said they would cancel my number and issue a new one in order to prevent any fraudulent activity. They DID NOT ask for my complete card number, and it was clearly Chase, because I CALLED the phone number listed on MY CARD and STATEMENT. Personally, I WANT to be contacted if they suspect fraud-that way, I can call the actual numbers to verify it and take action! - What a great post ..."It was clearly Chase, because I CALLED the phone number listed on MY CARD and STATEMENT. Thank you! - Nick| 2 repliesThe number is legit - I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed that 800.955.9060 was indeed Chase.
- acgThe number (800) 955-9060 is legitimate. I had a voicemail at my office that left a Caller ID of (480) 902-6000, with a message explaining that they were checking charges to the account and asking for a callback to (800) 955-9060. Googling the number showed plenty of sightings about what it was, so I phoned. After the usual verification questions, the girl read back to me charges in detail that my wife had made in the past couple of days, identifying the stores by name and so on, and I confirmed them. She said it was a random account check and there were no other charges. Again, they knew the transactions in detail already; it was just a confirmation, and that was that.

- sheebamost importantly,
the people that claim this is not a "scam" sound like they barely made it through High School education and seem to be extremely irritated that people claim its a scam.
those of us that KNOW THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM aren't upset about the situation and use proper grammar, etc. that's the most important clue regarding this situation.
this number psychotically called my parents home, work number, and cell phone consecutively. immediately the fuggin' unprofessional thieves asked me if i was with any other banking institutions - and i told her i would have to call her back. never did. i called chase check forgery dept. and the woman said if the fraud department of chase really calls you, 9 out of 10 times there is a note before they call or right after they call - stating that they tried to contact you.(no note on my account) she also had me speak with her supervisor who warned me DO NOT CALL BACK THIS NUMBER!
finally, i told the woman of the chase-check forgery department to google the number - she did while i was on the phone and said that chase does not claim that number to be theirs. - sorabjii thought the message telling me to call a number other than the number on my credit card seemed wrong. so i called the chase # on my card, and it turns out they put a hold on my card after they declined a perfectly legitimate charge. they said they did this because new york state (where i live) is apparently having an identity theft epidemic. well, that's what the woman i spoke with said.
to be honest it sounded like a sales call for chase's identity theft protection service, which toward the end of the call was pitched to me -- for only $7 a month.
it seems strange that they're arbitrarily declining purchases, and it's strange as well that they chose to decline a purchase with a company i've done business with on a regular basis for well over 10 years.
this was a routine charge placed on my card by an internet service provider, so i didn't have to deal with any embarrassment of having something like an in-person grocery store or restaurant purchase declined. - Wadethe number appears to be legitimate. i recently changed my address and then got a call to call the 9559060 number and was likewise suspicious. they unfortunately do not have this number listed on their contact us numbers so i just called in the number on the back of my card and asked about it. id recommend just calling that number too, no reason to doubt the person your talking to and theres too much info from people saying its a scam on this site to be sure without checking it out for yourself. at the end of the call i told them the number i was left to call and they did say that was the fraud department. i asked that they could list that info on their website but, theres probably no chance that will get passed along.
- another surferThe number is legit. But, you don't have to take anyone's word for it; just call the # on the back of your Chase card or on your Chase statements. (Note: those regular customer service folks may or may not have ready access to the "lending operations" or "fraud dept" notes but I'll bet you'll get there eventually.)
- RobFor the people that are claiming that this number is a SCAM, try calling CHASE directly with the number they provided on the back of your CC instead of being ignorant or draw up conspiracy theories. Yes, I got a msg directing me to call 8009559060. Yes I called them back, and I agree the whole system sounded WAY suspicious. After I told them I'm not going to give out my info, they instructed me to call Chase DIRECTLY instead. So I call Chase with the number on the back of my credit card and I asked for the Fraud Dept directly. Guess what, turned out that the phone number AND the calls are both LEGIT.
- Angela in TexasI believe the others that are reporting it is a valid # are very confused. There is a phone number for Chase that is very SIMILAR to this number. The VALID number (from Chase's website) is 1-800-955-8060****Note the only number that is different is the 9 - it should be an EIGHT! Kinda freaks me out that they knew exactly what kind of Chase card I had (Amazon.com VISA) AND that they had my work phone number - how the hell did they get that info????
- curious in nythe number is legit - i just called chase three(3) times and they confirmed it
- AmyI got a call saying to call this number back. I checked here to see if it was a scam because the automated person was asking for my full credit card number. I saw lots of people saying this was a scam so I just called the number on the back of my card to see. They said it was a legitimate call, but I would always just call the number on the credit card to be sure.
- Caller: Chase
- [***]every company has alot of departments. for a large bank such as chase, we would expect several different contact numbers. if you are really suspicious of the call, just dial the number at the back of your chase credit card and ask if the 800-955-9060 is legit. as far as i know it is legit. usually the agents does not release info without security measures coz in the other side of it, fraudsters pretend to be the card holder just to steal info. that's why i do not disagree with how the process works.
- Chase Card HolderHad voice mail message on my home phone to call this toll free telephone number from Chase. Called the number and it immediately asked me to enter my card number. I hung up and called the number on the back of my card. They transferred me to the Fraud Dept. and they DID call and left me a message to verify charges on my card. Everthing was fine. Good follow up on their behalf.
- EddieI received a phone call from this number yesterday (VME at work so I have no idea of the caller-id info), coincidently after Chase declined an international transaction. I phoned Chase at the number on the back of my card and it immediately dropped me into an automated system to verify the transaction.
Why would anyone EVER call any other number??? - MarkI just got a call from 1-800-955-9060 concerning possible fraud on my Chase Freedom Card.
I called the number on the back of my Chase Card and they were able to verify that the call WAS legit. But I would still suggest calling the number on the back of your card.
It appears a fraud flag is put up if you make attempt to make a large transaction from an offshore (non-us) company over the internet.- Caller: Chase Fraud
- Chase EmployeeI work for JPMorgan Chade and 800-955-9296 is a legit phone #
- AnonymousYou people are strange! This IS a VALID phone number for the Chase Fraud CREDIT CARD department. If you think this is a scam, you are mistaken.
- LindsayThis is NOT a scam. It is Chase. I got a message that there was possibly some fraudulent activity on my account and I called the number on the back of my Chase credit card. I gave them the number the 800-955-9060 number and they verified that it was Chase.
