This number IS legitimate. I received a letter in the mail saying Chase had attempted to contact me by phone regarding fraud. I had NOT received any calls from Chase (at least none that showed as Chase, Visa, or Mastercard on my caller ID), so I was initially suspicious. I get LOTS of phone calls that show as "TOLL FREE SVC" on caller ID (I don't answer those... usually an automated sales call of some sort). Nor did they leave a message on my answering machine, something you think they would have bothered to do.

So... I called 800 955 9060 (the number in the letter) and a Chase rep told me about 2 suspicious overseas charges that were indeed fraud. They also said a request for a phone number change had been made (I did NOT make any such request).

Yes, they asked for some information to confirm who I was. No, they did not ask for my entire card number or my entire SS#. They asked multiple choice questions that only I would know the answer to (address, professional licenses, etc.) to make sure I was the actual cardholder. I had them cancel my card and mail me a fraud affidavit along with a list of recent charges so I can examine them to see if there are any other fraudulent charges.

I waited 20 minutes and called the number on the back of my actual card. Chase rep confirmed the letter etc. was legit, and my account had been closed as requested, etc. Please note that your ONLINE account will still be accessible (you can log in), but you won't be able to view your online statements etc. until you get your new card and activate it by phone.

So, yes letter seemed a bit suspicious. But it's legit. If Chase would simply use correct caller ID name (something I could identify) this might have been taken care of earlier. I suppose they could have emailed me (they did not), but since there are so many email scams I probably wouldn't have responded.

This is valid. I called the number on my card and Chase confirmed it.

I called Chase. They said it was legitimate. If you are reading this DO NOT BELIEVE ME. Call them yourself via the number on the back of your card. Then berate them for having such a stupid set up.

Leaving a number on the answering machine that isn't on the back of your card and then asking you to enter in your 16-digit card number is completely stupid. It is exactly what a real scammer would do. Idiots!

Legitimate number for Chase card fraud.

Got voice message to call 800-955-9060 concerning Chase credit card fraud.

Suspicious, I called the number on the back of my card, and they confirmed that 800--955-9060 is their number. They alerted me to many small, and escalating, illegitimate charges to my card, made via the internet. My card has now been canceled and re-issued.

This is legitimate, but to feel safe, only call the number on the back of your card. They are doing their job.

I thought it was a scam as well, so I called the number on the back of my card. It is indeed the fraud line for Chase reporting fraudulent activity on my card. I wish the people who googled this number with reports that it was fraud would list their sources instead of making people paranoid (like I felt, reading this).

I received a message and called this number. It is a legitimate number from Chase. You do not have to enter your full credit card number or social security number. Just the last 4 digits, same as if you call the number on the back of your card. Although, it's a pain in the butt, this is in place to help you. I ordered computers from dell and it went through as 6 different charges, totally about $2,700. You can see why this might raise suspicion!

This is not a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Call Chase yourself and verify the number. It's the Fraud Department from Chase.

I received a message and called back to this number. The auto attendant asked me to enter the last 4 numbers of the card and told me the number can not be recognized, then the auto attendant asked to to enter the full 16 digits, asked me my mother's maiden name, finally a person came to the line and asked me more questions. After several questions, he still could not access my account and i got so suspecious about it. Then i refused to answer it any more. The questions included:
- what's your previous address (god, that's 30 years ago),
- what's the model of your car
- what's the model for another car of mine

I told the person on the phone that those questions are to weired since i didn't give out those information when i applied the card. How can they verify those information?????
Then, the person just say "i'll call you back" and rushed to hang up my call.

The next thing i did was to call the number on the back of the card. A lady answered my call. With couple standard questions, she was able to access my card and verified my previous expending.

I received an offical looking letter that said it was from Chase Fraud Operations.  I called it and it wanted me to enter the last four digits of my credit card. The recording said it could not identify the numbers and wanted me to enter the entire number.  I got suspious so I googled the number and found this site.  I did not receive a call only the letter.

Just call the number on the back of your card.  I also received the message instructing to call 800-955-9060.  I called the customer service on the card instead.  They immediately connected me to the fraud department, and someone had attempted to charge $10,000 on my card today.  So...this number is legit, but if you're not comfortable call the official #.

This is definitely NOT A SCAM.  I got a call from them today and called this number back.  After double checking the legitimacy, I Google'd the number and found this page.  I then called the # on the back of my chase card and confirmed with them that everything was legit, and it was.

Some guy on this number 0438 201 783 said dirty things in a text message to me, it might of been a random thing but still.

This was a REAL number.  You all got me paranoid, so I just called the number on the back of my card.  They did indeed close my account after I talked to the guy at 800-955-9060.

I got a call from 847-488-6000 (phone identified caller location as 'Elgin IL' ) on my cell and it went on to my voice message box since I was busy at work in a meeting. The caller had identified herself as Gerilyn and had asked to call back on 800-955-9060 regarding a suspected fraud on a Chase Visa credit card. I didn't call back that number but instead chose to use the phone number from the back of the credit card.

It was indeed confirmed that CHASE had called up and there WAS  a suspicious transaction they wanted to verify with me. And the same process followed as written by many here (canceling the existing account, new card will be issued..etc).
So looks like that WAS A LEGITIMATE CALL from CHASE fraud prevention Dept. That's just my real experience about this number.

BS, Path doc. That is fraud if I ever smelled it.  Don't you think if they know your phone number, they should know your account number?  To those of you reading this response (other than Path doc who is either too busy giving crooks access to his/her account OR is actually one of the crooks):  Never give your full account number to anyone that has solicited you for whatever reason.  If you think it may be a legitimate call, share with the representative your concern about fraud and the reason for your reluctance to give your full account number over the phone.  Ask for alternate methods for identification (you could give the last 4 digits of your account or ss#, your address, zip code, DL#, or other bits of information the cc company already has in their records as part of your account).  Legitimate customer service representatives from reputable companies will understand this issue and your concerns.  They will not require your full account number.  They will work with you.  In fact, they should thank you for your concerns...none of us (customers or legitimate companies) want to be scammed.

I got two calls from this number toeqy.  Logged on to Chase online and found one of credit cards I have linked to my userid was no longer there.  I asked if this number is legitimate through secure message center and got response in a few minites saying they placed hold on my account and giving me different 800 number to call (this number was not on website either).  So Chase did not verify 800-955-9060 as its Fraud Dept number but my card had been actually used over the internet shopping several times by someone out there.  I think this number is legitimate but Chase does not want to publish it for some reason.

THIS IS NOT A SCAM OR HOAX.  I received a call this AM from a rep at this number and it was LEGITIMATE!  Someone was trying to charge $1800 to my Chase Amazon card.  Rep cancelled my card and reissued.  I later called the number on the back of my card and they verified again that I had been contacted by their Fraud dept and the card had been cancelled and reissued.

If you are still unsure - call the number on the back of your credit and verify.

Let me start off by saying that I'm a victim of identity theft, so I've been dealing with crooks for four months trying to get this mess cleaned up. Two weeks ago I was alerted via mail  that someone had requested a change of address(successfully, I might add) on all of my Chase credit card accounts. I called the Customer Service number on the back of one of my cards and was able to straighten out the mess.  All of my cards were closed and new account numbers issued.  Today I received a call from 1-847-488-6000 asking me to call the Fraud Department at Chase at 1-800-955-9060.  After everything I've been through, there was no way in hell I was calling some random number that some random person had left on my voicemail claiming to be Chase.  I once again called the Customer Service number on the back of my credit card  and asked them to connect me with their Fraud Department.  I was able to verify that the voicemail message was legit, as is the 800-955-9060 number.  Anyone on this website claiming that this is a "scam" is probably a scammer themselves.  Hell, if I was a scammer I wouldn't want ANY of my victims to contact the fraud department at their credit card issuer either.  Think about it, people.  When in doubt, CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD.  It really is as simple as that.  As for those of you who either don't have accounts with Chase, or haven't used your card in some time, that does not mean that someone out there has not gotten a hold of your information and opened or re-opened an account using all of your personal information.  IT CAN HAPPEN...trust me.  It happened to me.

800-955-9060 is legit.  I called the number on the back of my Chase Sapphire card and they confirmed that they had tried to reach me, then transferred me to the Fraud Dept.
