I get phone calls every so often from this number.  When I answer, it is a legitimate Ebay call.  When I don't answer, they leave a message, with name.  The calls are always regarding a promotion, for example.   After reading other's posts, I'm wondering if someone is somehow using Ebay's phone # for scams as well, just like they do on websites.  It's always good to be cautious, of course, and obviously Ebay is not going to call and ask for any personal information.  Thanks!

Just recieved a call from this number; I didn't answer, looked it up here, and called back. It goes right to an automated message; one of the first things it says is that it's a courtesy call and no further action is required on my part.

This is retarted. Why would people do this? No one is going to fall for this scam. Even though its from eBay Inc, what dumbass would fall for it

I recieved a call today from this number and the lady told me that my ebay account had been suspended due to "wronging my customers".  I've done no such thing, and there were no messages for me on ebay.  What the heck is going on?

It's ebay...it really really really is EBAY..they called me...I called them back..it's ebay...good grief people stop being paranoid.

I'm sure it is Ebay as well.  However, the persistence and calling times make it feel like a scam.  They called me this morning 5 times between 7 and 11 a.m. then this afternoon 6 times already just between 1 and 2 p.m.  I have no intention of speaking to these rude a**holes.  When I called back to get information and to tell them to stop, it is the same recorded message saying it was just a promotion...umm then why are they calling me like an angry mother!?

This number is ebay... however, some one also spoofs this number and the ebay caller ID... when in doubt, call ebay's 1800 #

I keep getting calls from this number but dont pick up calls I dont recognize. I just googled the number and found this site. I wont be answering this call at all going forward.

Said hello 2-3 times, hung up.  They have not tried to call back since...

Got a call from this number and answered, said hello a few times and no one replied back. I hung up. Caller id showed "EBAY INC".

Doubtful. I did not pick up and he left a voice mail. Contacted eBay and it is their marketing department.

Just got a call from this number. Ebay makes sense, as I posted items this morning. Not sure why I'm being called instead of being contacted via email. I didn't answer.

Just called me left a blank 2 second voicemail. Have been buying and selling over 5 years and never received a call from ebay. They called my cell number too which was strange. Not sure what the deal is.

I spent an hour looking into this--apparently, someone from ebay is freelancing on ebay time and dime.

I received a call today from this number.  The pre-recorded message said it was from eBay and informing me of new seller availabilities. I think it's legit.

Got call saying that it was E-Bay,I would not talk but they even had my Email address,Still told them to send it to Email,, So,,Called Ebay and representative took the number and said it did not belong to them... they said that They never contact anyone by phone for information....

I agree with Moose and a couple of others who understand that some individuals are capable of calling and causing false information to be displayed on your caller id. So, even though this IS the name and number of eBay Inc., there are also individuals who are up to no good who are phoning people after obtaining their personal information somehow.

Additionally, there could be some who have used their access to the eBay calling center to access info. wrongfully and also make unauthorized phone calls from the eBay call center in Utah. Obviously, nobody should provide any personal info. to anyone calling from eBay Inc. - eBay states that they do not request any such info when they call.

this morning I also received a call from this # said representing ebay. but I called ebay, ebay said never called me. anybody who gets call from this number just report it.
