- FloI had received a call on Thursday, 1/19/2012 at 10:27am from somebody who identified herself as working with ebay. She wanted to ask me a few questions but I told her that I am at work. Then she asked me if she can send me the informations in an e-mail and ask me to verify the address. Today I contacted ebay customer service and they said that nobody called me yesterday and advised me to sumit a report about it.
Thank you,
F.- Caller: Unknown
- chrisreceived a message from this company claiming to be ebay and that they would send me an email.ebay never calls to tell me that they are sending me an email.don't answer any email from these people.
- Caller: unbknown
- MargyOver the last 3 months they have been calling me saying that they were calling me from e-bay. When I told them to e-mail me what they want to tell me I never got the e-mail.
- Jim AAn unsolicited, unwanted, annoying telemarketing call. I think they should have an opt-in system instead of an opt-out system. I filed a complaint with the FCC do-not-call registry, as I do with EACH unwanted telephone call that is received on my unlisted, private telephone number that is there for MY convenience and not for the use of idiot telemarketers who should be put out of business and thrown in jail!
- Caller: DRAPER UT
- Call type: Telemarketer
- 12 year powersellerGot a call from this number 5 times this week in the morning did not answer no name just number
after researching number and checking phone updates and promotions in my Ebay preferences which is not checked to receive phone and not receiving any emails to my registered account or than the normal updates
Called eBay customer service they said this is not one of there numbers and records show they did not try to contact me
Called paypal customer service they said this is not one of there numbers and records show they did not try to contact me
Submitted report at both eBay and paypal on this number
Being cautious is not being Paranoid I would rather have my funds and information intact paranoid or not remember what kind of world we live in today
Bottom line although this site is a great resource make the call to eBay and paypal yourself
and ask if they did in fact try to contact you use all information available to you and be positive
that your information is safe
Then report this number to them for investigation- Caller: Unknown
- Anonym| 1 replyGot a voice mail from 801-545-1800 on 4-3-12 at 1:15 PM ET. The message left was incredibly strange, especially IF this is someone from ebay or hired by them. It was a young woman (couldn't be more than late teens or early twenties for sure) who sounded like she was either half asleep, drunk, or on drugs. Here's the message she left:
> About 5 seconds of dead silence followed by her speaking very quietly almost in a whisper (like someone who just woke up) saying something I could barely make out since she was so out of it. Sounded like she said: "Morning (as in good morning greeting)..... What are you doing?"
> Then you hear a young man talking to her off in the background, can't understand what he's saying), then she speaks again: "What?"
> Then you hear the man talking to her off in the background again, still can't understand what he's saying, followed by about 5 seconds of no talking but you can hear someone fumbling with the phone and other very slight background noises then the phone hangs up.
Sounded like the questions she was asking were not directed to me or into the phone. It very much sounded like she was talking to the man in the room that you hear in the background. It sounds as if she didn't realize the phone was even there or turned on.
One Possible Explanation:
If this is in fact a legit ebay number then my guess is they have hired at-home workers and this idiot doesn't know how to use her equipment - possibly an Internet phone and headset that was turned on by mistake or by the man to play a joke on her. And since so many people report this number has something to do with ebay I'd tend to think that's the case.
Another Possible Explanation:
Since it's now many months since the last report here (Oct 2011) it may be the phone number was once ebay's but has now changed, is no longer associated with ebay, and someone new has the number, it might now belong to some young woman, and it may have been a cell phone accidentally turned on and misdialed by someone who is new at using a cell phone.- Caller: unsure
- Death replies to AnonymNow I'm sure it was the first of my two possible explanations (an at-home worker) since I now see there have been reports after Oct 2011. For some reason I did not see these reports until after I posted my info (above).
- AnonymGot another call today from 801-545-1800 at 4:21 AM ET. This time the idiot was operating the phone properly and enabled the automated voicemail with a recording of a man telling me all about new ebay services. So I called the number back just now, with the intent to give the sleeply c*nt and her boyfriend an earful, and I was connected to a recording from "ebay account services" stating that I would get calls from time to time and if I wanted to change my contact preferences I need to go to my ebay account, BUT even if I were to do that the recording states I may still get phone calls. Oh, and since ebay is a large corporation with huge lobbying dollars in the mix most caller ID services are not able to record the incoming call (record as in make a record of it on caller ID), AND most phone servcies cannot block this number. There's a loop hole in do not call laws that allow companies like ebay to not have to follow do not call laws. ALL of this is just more reasons why EBAY SUCKS!!

- AmberJust received a call from this number on my cell phone. There was silence and then a woman with a raspy middle-aged voice said she was calling from eBay about new policies regarding the Spring promotions. She asked if I had a few minutes for her to explain them, and in a paranoid tone, I declined. Then I asked if that is the same information I receive regulary in the emails. She said she didn't know that I get in emails from eBay. Then she said since I didn't have time she would email me the information. I waited to hear if she was going to ask me for my email address, but she verified it with me because she had it infront of her. At this point I knew it was a legit call, but the first I had received from eBay since I became a casual seller in 2002. She thanked me for my time and we both hung up. It all seemed quite odd. Maybe it is a training facility??
- Caller: eBay
- lhJust received a call from this number. Caller ID said Ebay, Inc. They hung up when I answered. Just by reading the posts on here I can see that it's a scam. I love this site!!!!
- Caller: Ebay, Inc.
- AndyTHIS IS NOT EBAY.
I received my second call from them today. The first time they claimed to be from eBay, but through the course of the conversation, she asked for my userid. Any caller from eBay would already have my userid if they had my name and number. I asked why she didn't know my eBay ID if she was from eBay, and she said they are a marketing firm who has a relationship with eBay.
Today, another woman from this number called, asked for me by my first name, and then told me the call would be monitored for quality assurance. I asked politely if she actually worked for eBay or if she works for a 3rd-party company which has a relationship with eBay. She refused to answer and informed me she could not continue the call.
So I told her to go eff herself.- Caller: some

- EbayIDI recently received a phone call from them and they are NOT from EBAY, or have any relation from EBAY.
I spoke with an EBAY representative and He told me a few things,
1. He trace the call and they are from UTAH,
2. NO RELATIONS WITH EBAY
3. EBAY WILL NEVER CALL YOU, USUALLY THEY WILL CONTACT YOU THROUGH EBAY MESSAGE
4. He told me to be very caution about my account, and not to give any information out what so ever, (DUH)
Although they contacted me (8015451800 not ebay) and ask a few question about my paypal funds not being available yet, and what precautions I should take in order to get my payment available quicker, they then stated to ask me some personal question, That ebay themselves would not ask.
WHAT I DID RIGHT AWAY WAS CHANGE MY PASSWORD ON EBAY AND PAYPAL! - poohbear replies to KLit doesn't matter if your preferences are on or off, they are simply calling to inform you of information about your account. They will call from anything like an inappropriate thing you may have done on eBay, to tell you about your account, to inform you of something regarding a purchase if there's been a problem or if you are a seller my call today was about upcoming specials/discounts for top sellers. I receive calls from them frequently about my account and things going on at eBay. They also send out a magazine to their sellers. I understand the concern people, but seriously this is a legit number. Think about it...did they have to ask for your email address? That's becasue they are eBay and already had it.
- CONCERNED CITIZEN replies to royalThe call I received from this number came up on caller ID as DRAPER UT. If this is ebay, then they have an annoying & creepy way of doing business. I filed a complaint via DONOTCALL.GOV registry. I do this for every unwanted call now. If it's a person, I talk to them & try to get as much information from them as possible for my complaint. They usually hang up on me & don't call back. I always file the complaint anyway. Almost all my incoming calls now are from people I actually know !
- watchdogz replies to akashamystebay does not call or sell info, be careful new software allows calls to use ANY number and pretent to be a company to get personal info, then they sell your info, be wise and be careful
- DougWas on the phone with E-Bay, got disconnected. The girl called me back (thank goodness) from this number.... so YES, it is really E-Bay.
- Caller: E-Bay
- frananswered, and no one there ,
weird - MabuseCaller left message, claims to be from Ebay. This is probably a scam because they called my cell phone and that number is NOT anywhere on any of my Ebay information.
- Caller: claims to be Ebay
- VictoriaI could hear a phone bank in the backround. They left a message about how to sell on ebay. Pretty scammy sounding. I suspect if I picked up they would have said something else. It's out of utah. Says Draper then UT on the caller ID
- Caller: Ebay?
