- DaveI receive calls on a regular basis from Avante USA in which they claim I owe money on a paid in full contract with Bally's Total Fitness. These folks are very tenacious; however, they apparently lack any proof on their claims. Do not speak to these people. Record the calls, times of call, and the name of the individual who attempts to call you. I'm hoping that a class-action lawsuit will be started against this company. In the meantime, contact your state's attorney general and better business bureau to file a complaint.

- BryanGot a call form the number. The absolute worst people I have ever dealt with. They called about an alleged debt from 2002. Since its 2009 and I have pefect credit I responded that I do not recall any such credit card. They jumped all over me saying I was a liar! Can you believe this?! Then they would not give me any info on the debt unitl I forced it our of them. I did the research, no debt existed.
Something should be done. I had a 22 year old threatening my credit. I have children older than she! - NataliiaKeep getting calls from this number.
- John FI got several partial voice mail msgs from 832-476-1739, so I called them back to find out what was up. It is Avante, a collection agency. When they found out they were calling a lawyer at a law firm (i.e., me), they became very skittish and told me they were looking for "Gloria." I told them no one has ever worked for me by that name. They told me she must have had my number before I did. I told them that wasn't very likely as I have had the same number since 1997. They told then told me that she had used my number in 1996 (which would be an amazing coincidence and why exactly would they be using a number that is 14 yeas old to reach someone?). I will say, however, that they have NOT called me back. You think my occupation might be the deterring factor???

- NOT HAPPYWhoever these people are, they are extremely RUDE and NASTY! Someone named Ms. Paul called asking for someone here, and I nicely said no one here knows anyone by that name...who are you exactly? She would not say and started dictating to me on the phone saying, listen lady....and first of all and don't you dare turn this around on me...I was like WTH! So I lashed back and said, YOU listen!! You called my number, don't care who you are now and how dare you care here dictating to me and being rude.

- ZachAfter seeing this number on my caller ID for the past year and a half, I finally answered. It was a recording, from Avante, talking about a past debt. I returned the call and finally after the 6th time, I finally talked to someone. It was for my ex-wife. They were pretty nice and said they would talk me off of their call roster.

- amazedI got a call today from these people. When he told me for my debt at xyz college, I was like, "excuse me"? I never attended this college. I had enrolled, went to orientation and decided it was a crock. Somehow I owed them $210 and change. I vaguely remember this school calling me EIGHT years ago regarding something like this and I told the man I never attended so I didn't owe. I never heard from them again. Here we are, eight years later and I have a debt collection agency calling me for just over $200. Ridiculous. They called my fiance first- on his cell phone. How the heck did they get my fiance's cell phone?! Apparently no one could contact me at the number or address they had on file from eight years ago which is my parents address and number which is STILL the same. It is rather sketchy that the were able to get my fiance's cell. It really is.
The guy I dealt with was actually nice. I was ripping him a new one though because I was excessively unimpressed that anyone would turn $200 over to a collection agency after eight years without trying to contact me first. It's such little money I would have taken care of it long ago. I still question whether it was valid since I never attended the school but I'd rather not hurt my credit score of such a menial amount of money. I might have had a textbook or something that was on my account since I was ready to start classes then told them I'd rather not- I don't know. The funny thing is, I asked them for proof of this allegation and Avante can't provide any. They told me I would have to contact the college and they can't guarantee they'd be able to provide it.
I say the guy from Avante was nice to me- I mean he was considering I was screaming at him.. but he had this "way" that was kind of snide.. just some things he said. Such as "well you are lucky it's only $200 and not more." They also told me that this is on my credit report and now that I paid, it will show up as a paid account. It better not be on my credit because for one- I didn't have an "account" with the college- it should have been on my credit long ago and I just bought a house so it WOULD have come up. I am going to wait a month or so and check my credit reports. I am going to be so distrought if it is indeed on my credit because my credit has always been perfect.. and if that is ruined over $200 I will be da*&ed!!- Caller: Avante USA
- AnonyI posted above about them calling regarding a $200 from a college I never attended but had enrolled in. I enrolled them unenrolled prior to the start of classes. I was out and about when they called and panicked that this would go on my credit report- just did some research and it turns out this college has CLOSED! They are calling me (and I PAID!) debt for a school that is closed??? it was only $200 but still. What do I do!??!?!

- shellyThey keep calling my place of employment. I asked for information to be sent to me on a bill I supposedly owe and that was over a month ago and I still haven't gotten the bill in the mail. What a scam. It was this Mr. Ford demanding money from me. He sounded very fishy to me

- Mary Jo LuuThis number calls my cell phone very day for the last four days.IIf they call me one more time I am going to file a complain with the Government do not call registry. They leave a message in Spanish and ask to push number one for English. I do not know what they want from me. I do not speak Spanish and I always pay my bills every month. We have already registered our home phone and our two cell phones with the Government Do Not Call Registry.

- Sharon in Florida replies to SarahSarah,
I have been getting calls on my cell phone from this Avante and my cell has limited minutes and is strickly for emergencies since my husband is in a nursing home. I have only given out the number to family and very close friends. I do not owe anybody and am sick and tired of these calls. I will also notify the Better Business Bureau in Houston. - Don (not Carlos)For 2 yrs this company has been calling my cell phone (burning my minutes) and asking for Carlos. They say they will take my number off the list, but I still keep getting calls. What is wrong with these people and how do I get them off my back? I have no debt with anyone.

- CrystalWARRRRGGHHH! I could not get these people to tell me who they were. The first woman I spoke to yelled at me because I refused to give her my number. (They called me!) The second gentleman I spoke to was rude, but didn't yell. Finally, I asked to speak to the manager who told me he wouldn't divulge any more than the name of his company or even what line of business they are in, that it was against the law, and then hung up on me. (At this point, I am frustrated, but not rude.) I called back and asked a final time the random operator to spell the name of the business and casually asked what line of business it is. Apparently she hadn't been indoctrinated. She told me they were a debt collector.
I'm annoyed that someone is using my number to evade collection (which I tend to think must be true, or why would they give a false number?). I'm annoyed with the yelling woman. I'm pissed at the lying manager.
I still didn't give my number or name. But when they called later asking for person who gave the false number, my daughter told them they had the wrong number.
If you have a debt to pay, pay it. Otherwise you get to spend alot of time talking to rude, annoying, lying, people- Caller: Avante USA
